In like Fight Club, Drive, and Nightcrawler, and I noticed a huge trend with how they film the city at night. Everything has this deep steel blue, cyan, or cool neon lighting everywhere especially in the shadows and street shots.they also make use of yellow street lights

Is there a name for this aesthetic I’ve been seeing since 2022?

In 10 years I can see these type of videos being remembered as the 2016 filter pictures.why is it that 2022 is considered a winter and night coded year.

do you think the amazing world of gumball will be remembered as a uniquely 2010s cartoon

I'd actually put Gumball, Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe in slightly different categories of “2010s-ness.” And interestingly, I think Gumball may age into being an even stronger time capsule than some other 2010s cartoons. Its creators intentionally combined lots of different visual styles, but the result accidentally captured the design sensibilities of its period.

A lot of the character designs have that weird clipart/corporateart look that was everywhere around that time: really clean shapes, bright colours, simple silhouettes, etc. The show also mixes 2D characters with 3D environments, photographs, CGI objects and all kinds of other styles in a way that feels very specific to the era.

The lighting and 3D models especially remind me of PS3/early PS4-era games. There’s this slightly glossy digital look to everything that doesn't quite feel like modern animation anymore, but also doesn't have the visual qualities of older cartoons.

Even the humour feels very 2010s to me. It has a lot of the chaotic, internet-influenced comedy that was becoming common through YouTube, memes, gaming culture, Tumblr, etc.

I wonder if, years from now, someone will see a random frame of Gumball and immediately think of it as uniquely 2010s animation.

Why does England produce fewer players in the top five leagues than other European countries of a similar size?

Why does England produce fewer players in the top five leagues than other European countries of a similar size? Also, I find it crazy how Spain and Italy have so many players; they both have relatively high median age and low birth rates, which you would think would lead to smaller player pool (source [https://fbref.com/en/comps/Big5/nations/Big-5-European-Leagues-Nationalities\](https://fbref.com/en/comps/Big5/nations/Big-5-European-Leagues-Nationalities) )

Why so much performative city hate in the uk ?

Am the only one who’s annoyed by this country hate bonner for city’s and it country side worship, whenever I see people in the media try to explain why people are moving to cities it’s always jobs or for community never the city it self or the architecture in the city.not to mention this anti urbanism mindset has lead to development in this country becoming expensive and time consuming.

Should I go to uni for architecture after I just got cooked by my A levels?

am currently a level tests rn yesterday it OCR A level chem paper 1, and today it was Edexcel Maths Paper 1. I did terribly on both (most likely below 50% on both). On past papers for both subjects, I would usually get 70% (granted, I found them shit). My uni offer for architecture was CDD(at Plymouth) (I got a B in art ) after this tho am not even sure if I want to do architecture now. When I went to a uni open day, I was shocked to see you didn't have to do much drawing (I wanted to do a career that centred art but also wanted a decently paying back-up job in case I can't be a comic book artist ). i thought I could get a BBB or ABB to get into a different uni, but that's out of the window
