Which is the best UK football podcast out of these ?

The Overlap

The Rest Is Football

The Good , The Bad and the Football

I personally used to love the overlap but now think it’s just the Gary Neville show and “do you know something”, used to hate The Rest is Football but the Netflix coverage was brilliant. Cant abide Paddy so can’t comment on the latter

I’d rather have a trash watch with a beautiful name, than a great watch with a shit one…..hello San Martin

I got into an argument with a randomer on here as to why I’d buy a Longines over a San Martin, erm, because Longines is one of the sexiest brand names out there, and the best value in horology right now.

It got me thinking that maybe I don’t care about movements and history, it’s the name. I’d never buy a San Martin despite the many, MANY advocates of it ( who all have poor taste and can’t afford a real watch like Rolex which San Martin blatantly copies which is why you buy San Martins in the first place )

I mean the name is horrendous, San Martin aka Saint Martin, and this is a Chinese brand?, the name sounds like a forgotten F1 track or a Spanish plumber you’ve called out to fix your pipes, don’t care if it was better than a Patek, never buying one.

Then again if a watch said Patek Philippe on the front and was a Chinese shitter, I’d buy it, because of the name. As I say, I’d rather have a good name and trash watch than a great watch with a shitty name like San Martin.

At least this is a hot take I just don’t think anyone here can handle the heat and the honesty I bring to these forums, or the intelligence. Could be worse though, San martin are bad but I could own a Christopher Ward and make myself lower on the ranking ….

Every Grand Seiko owner

The watch is better than any watch ever made because of the polishing! The polishing !

The reality is this, it’s a basic Seiko covered in Pledge, minus the nice lemon smell

Best watch for £300 ?

I have a few really nice watches but been looking at having something in the £300 range I can stick on whenever I went and not have to worry about scratches or bumps.

Ideally watches that you feel are good quality, good specs and look good

All Seiko watches are overpriced trash

I have tried, and tried and TRIED to get onboard with Seiko. Not a single watch they have ever released does anything for me.

I purchased a Seiko 5 years ago, bracelet was shockingly bad like it was made from cardboard, watch was thicker than a UFO, I’ve also tried on more expensive models ,the GMT that everyone raves on about and tries to compare to Rolex by calling it the “blueberry”, again , horrendous bracelet, bezel felt like it would come off at any stage.

Now I know people will question my choices but I have friends who have spent money on the ones that are over 1k and again, the quality of bracelet has improved but overall they are still appalling, and there are so many options to choose from at the 1k range.

Seiko have also now put their prices up! Before I suppose you couldn’t complain but now, you absolutely can, seems like Seiko standards have gone backwards and prices have gone up, not to mention the hilarious amount of returns they have to deal with.

Then we get to grand seiko, a level above. All you peasants can have a Seiko for a fair amount of money, but if you want the best we have to offer, we will sell you a boring looking watch for 7k instead.

Both brands can go in the bin

Going on sale at 10k

Highest one I’ve seen sold for now is about 20 grand. I think it’s ridiculous bullshit. Rumours going round they won’t be releasing any more and that they will be impossible to find, experts predicting it could be sold for more than the nautilus in a years time.

99.99999999% of watches are shite

Went through a phase of wanting to get as many watches as possible, I didn’t do that but I ordered more than I should have. Now I’ve snapped out the crazy phase, the only watch out of my collection I love is my Longines, Rolex doesn’t even get any wear anymore and all my other watches I resent with a vengeance, but I don’t even wear my Longines much now ( I’m in the UK and people who wear watches in what will be 35 degree weather next week ) are animals

NO watch is comfortable in that heat , and I sweat my bollocks off just standing up and can’t even take the watch off as my wrist is drenched, no idea how people wear watches in those conditions.

To clarify, all watches are shite really, and the majority just buy them to impress other men they don’t even know in return for compliments, masculinity or even to get laid, and what’s even more absurd, get this……..that Rolex you have, does exactly the same as what a Longines does, or a Timex, or a shitty Casio with Mickey Mouse on

Also, YouTubers of late have been putting out “ affordable watches that make you look rich” which further confirms my point, you want a watch to look rich and better than you are , and one youtuber posted the new HydroConquest, a 2k watch that’s apparently “affordable” ….fuck off

That barker and Jack guy who says omega isn’t luxury can go to shite as well. It’s all bollocks.

Cheers !

No issues all my life, now multiple dentists recommending different treatments

Apologies for long post but helps to explain. I visit a dentist which is family run. Now I understand teeth change over time but I’m religious with cleaning, flossing etc and I look after them.

I’ve been at this dentist for about 6 years now and visits in 6 month increments, it’s usually the same guy, mid 50s I think, I’m always in and out, never once had any issues nor been advised for any treatments. In fact I think I’m in and out too fast at times.

His son joined the clinic years ago though and since he has, I mainly now see him, but the first time I saw him, he told me my back teeth and especially my wisdom tooth needed filling, urgently. I had no x rays or evidence of this, but I stupidly agreed to it and he filled my back wisdom tooth. 6 months after I see him again, the tooth near the wisdom tooth was also now showing decay, and he filled the side of it. I’m especially suspicious at this point and can only go on what’s been told but I definitely needed to ask more questions. After that I see the old guy,no issues whatsoever.

Then I see him again, “oh your right back wisdom tooth is showing decay now and needs filling” I refused. I was then told that it would get larger, possibly get worse, but I said no and they said “they would monitor it”

6 months after , I have him again, he then gives me an x ray and I’m thinking “ oh boy here we go, wonder what he’s going to find here” , comes out to tell me my x rays are all fine? … yet 6 months prior I had a cavity and decay?

I then have my next appointment and I see a woman I’ve never seen before, who’s absurdly thorough, who then gives me another x ray, sits me down and shows me a slide where she spots a tiny dot on one of my front teeth, she tells me “that’s a cavity”, but honestly it’s a minuscule dot to the point it can’t be seen unless you look up close. I’m told options and I refuse, I think she was hinting I have work done on it, but they would again “monitor it”, I at least liked her because she did sit me down and actively tried to explain what the x ray showed ,however because of my past experience I’m hesitant because I’m not a dentist and don’t know if the slide I’m looking at is genuinely showing issues or the dentist trying to get work out of me, but she wasn’t pushy at all with treatments and very understanding, so I really liked her, there was ZERO mention of any cavity or decay on the wisdom tooth …interesting

I then see the younger guy just last week and again, “that wisdom tooth definitely needs looking at”, then says “ normally we’d pull it but as I can see the decay I can just fill it and I can do that now for you “, didn’t really offer me an x ray or anything to look at, just him saying it needed sorting. I said no and he said it will end up hurting and cause me pain, but then said it was decaying 2 years ago and I’d have issues, and I haven’t.

So I have a dentist who I see who never says anything is wrong

A dentist who seemingly finds everything wrong and encourages treatments with no real backup as to why

And a lady I saw once who for me was the best and at least offered me advice, but 2/3 are giving me different opinions, different issues. I’ve got a cavity in my front tooth and my other teeth are fine, yet the other dentist doesn’t s I’ve got a decayed back wisdom tooth but my others are fine?

What do I do in this situation? Would you suggest I get hold of my records? I feel like I don’t really get much assurance as when I visit, I’m wondering “what will they find today” and then I see the old guy and it’s nothing, then I go back and see the younger guy thinking everything will be fine and I have issues, there’s no real consistency?

Can anyone clarify something ?

This joke we all say about “should have let the AD bang your wife and you’d have got a better watch”, does that actually happen where guys basically pawn off their wives just to get a piece of metal?

If so I’m definitely going to be an AD …

Swatch staff wearing gloves for the plastic Swatch x Audemars

I’ve heard most stores are doing this now due to “value perception” and that due to market prices it now has a resale value of 2 grand, but a video I saw on Instagram from a guy who purchased one said the guy in the swatch store who sold it him said that it would probably double in price month on month and there is a chance these will sell for more than a real AP Royal Oak on sites like ebay due to incredible demand.

Swatch need to be more responsible for this shower of shite release

I’ve posted numerous videos today of the worldwide craziness that is the new Swatch x AP release. Now you can’t control morons like this, but you can come up with preventive measures to control things better because it’s not beyond the realms of possibility someone gets killed in situations like this, I’ve seen people get punched, kicked and ganged up on , and all over a piece of fucking plastic that says AP on because it makes you like you’re one of the AP bros.

Next time something like this releases, just do it like Timex where you pre order it and they make as many as have been ordered plus x amount on top. Then it completely destroys any chances of scalpers who are now charging 2k plus with some listings going up to 10k on eBay, and it stops people camping overnight only to be told they can’t get one because they have run out, or get punched or flattened by the hundreds or in some cases thousands of people pushing to get in.

I’m a watch lover first and foremost but this release obviously shows immense popularity but it’s also one of the most fucking embarrassing things I’ve ever witnessed to see people behave like this over something so mindnumbingly trivial and non essential.

If people do this over a watch what happens when people need food of it goes scarce?
