If I suck at soldering, am I totally screwed?

I have always loved video games, and electronics, I have taken electronics repair classes, I have a decent understanding of PCBs. I have done basic repairs and built guitar pedals and small amps. I have always wanted to get more into console and handheld repairs, but I suck at soldering.

Soldering is fundamental and I worry that it is something I will not get better at since my soldering skills have not really got better over the course of my learning so far.

That being said I have also never really focused or tried to repair any consoles beyond like diagnosing a bad power supply, etc.

Just wondering if anyone else ever felt like they also suck at soldering and did you get better, or did it matter, like did you ever screw a pcb up royally and beyond repair trying to solder?

Cheap or free gym in the area that is NOT planet fitness?

We need to find a new gym and really do not like planet fitness, but any other option I have found in the area is crazy expensive. o2 fitness is like $80 a month.

We are not gym rats, we really just need like a treadmill, eliptical, stairclimber would be nice, a couple machines for weights would be nice.

Honestly would be just walking or running outside but holy crap I know how hot it is going to be this summer so we need somewhere inside.

Anybody got any ideas?

Creek swimming holes?

This weekend my wife and I found an amazing creek and trail over behind the botanical gardens. We trekked down the creek and it was super nice and cool, but a little shallow to fully swim or even just get waste deep.

Does anyone know of any quiet or chill creeks in the area that are public and we could possibly swim in? Does not have to be super deep but like waste deep in some spots would be nice just to chill in.

Not really into lakes/ponds, prefer moving water. A rive would be fine too but I don't know of any in the immediate area.

Just looking for spots in Chapel Hill and carrboro. We know of some spots in durham and raleigh but we want something in the neighborhood for when we don't feel like making a trek somewhere.

Feasibility of using LTE Pixelwatch and sharing a phone number with my wife, who will be using the phone it is paired to?

I want to get rid of my iphone/apple watch combo. My wife and I barely use our phones anymore but still need them for weird stuff like 2FA and authentication type notifications, some texting, some calling.

I was previously just using my apple watch as my phone, which I love but it lacks some functionality.

It doesn't make sense that we are both paying for phones if I am just using my watch, and I know pixelwatch requires a pixel phone to be paired to.

She is due for an upgrade and I was trying to figure out if I can get a pixelwatch and pair it to her phone and us both just use the same phone number.

I realize that this could probably be done but I am wondering what the limitations are. Does the phone and watch always both ring when calls and texts come through? Is there a delay in the watch getting notifications if away from the phone? Anybody else done something like this?

Anywhere sell fresh made authentic tortillas?

Just wondering if anywhere in chapel hill or Carrboro that sells fresh corn or flour tortillas for our taco nights. Like a pack of 6 or 12-ish is ideal but I can probably freeze leftovers.

What is the consensus on the best frozen fish filets for fish sandwich?

Needs to have great crunch / breading

mild not too fishy

THere are like 20 different Gorton's styles and not very clear the difference or why they have so many similar choices.

Other brands to consider?

I live in the US we have Harris teeter, lowe's, food lion, etc close. We have trader joes but their stuff goes in and out so fast I don't think it will be dependable.

Just looking for a consistently good fish filet to go to for fish sandwiches when we want them.

Quick and easy smoky taco truck style taco salsa?

I consider myself a decent cook that is trying to cook more at home and learn more, especially sauces and salsa.

There is a food truck that has an orange salsa that is so delicious, smoky and perfectly spicy, not too hot. I would like to start doing street tacos at home but I need a good sauce/salsa like this to add to the meal.

I'd really like to keep it super simple and cheap and something I can throw in a blender while I am cooking meat, in other words not a lot of ingredients and not a lot of prep time ahead of time. Sometimes we decide we want tacos on a whim, and if it is too complicated then we default to going to the taco truck but my budget is very tight right now.

Does anyone have a simple smoky taco truck style salsa they can tell me about?

Hoping I am not the only one that has a super hard time getting out of bed in the mornings. I snooze the alarm 3-4 times before my body/brain decides it might be able to start to consider getting up.

I have tried putting the alarm in the bathroom to force me to get up to turn it off, but this has historically just made me angry and even though it works sometimes I would rather not start off every day mad, LOL

It has also not stopped me from going straight back to my bed after I turn the alarm off or snooze, which is also not great as I can forget to snooze and then I fall back asleep.

We do not have curtains in the bedroom, so light is not an issue.

I have tried music, NPR, etc and none have been ideal solutions.

I would like to get into the habit of getting up as soon as my alarm goes off, this would give me time to actually shower, and walk my dog and still get to work on time. Right now I am lucky if I can just get to work on time, and most days I am late.

Anybody found a solution that works for them?

I am looking for a cheap and easy replacement for local taco truck salsa. I would like something I can make quickly and cheaply.

I am just wondering if this is decent on its own or if it could be a good base to build something on in a pinch.

Mostly I am looking for that roasted/smoky flavor that is not too too hot.

Can't honestly believe this is so hard to find in a reputable brand. Any that I find out there are wired, or some weird chinese brand that looks terrible.

All I need is for it to have a way to only have the alarm be set mon-fri and be battery powered, or rechargeable. It is going into a bathroom with no available wall outlet.

I'm also totally open to a vintage or older model if this exists from any year.

Anybody got an suggestions?

My wife and I love the taco truck. We are trying to eat cheap and also vegan right now but we loved the carne asada tacos from the truck.

I have had good portobello tacos before but only from restaurants.

The truck tacos are so simple, marinated meat, onions and cilantro. So flavorful and so juicy yet so very simple.

I have found a ton of overcomplicated portobello tacos online but I am looking for something dead simple yet packed with flavor.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recipes they want to chare that might accomplish this with portobellos?

I am thinking of using something like Kinder's Carne Asada seasoning blend, but unsure of the best way to cook this for maximum flavor and texture. Marinate? How long? Pan or oven?

Might just start my own trial and error but I thought someone might have some good ideas here!

We were finally able to take over management of our CTE programs software and Gmetrix has become a real pain. This is pretty much the universal experience from what I can tell. One of the ideas we came up with was to possibly use VMware Fusion and then set that up to run just Gmetrix for practice tests with Adobe software.

Once configured it can more easily be cloned and replicated via USB.

This is in theory, but in practice I am having issues with the network side among other things.

Is anyone else running Gmetrix in a VM and if so I was just wondering if you would share your setup.

If you are not, what are you using, iTopia? Local Servers? Make students admin? LOL

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
