I usually ride the Fullerton bus. The drivers do breaks and shift changes at the Fullerton/Pulaski stop. I used to live before that stop so I’m not used to being on the bus for a shift change unless it was an emergency one. I recently moved to just past that stop and now it seems like every time I’m on the bus the drivers do a shift change. Is there a consistent time for the shift change or am I just unlucky hitting it almost every time?

I want to note this is not me complaining by any means and the driver deserves their break after a long shift. I’m just curious! It might also help me plan my commute a bit better because sometimes the shift changes go long and I wind up late even if I’ve left early. Thank you all!

What the title says. For the past few months I’ve been getting emails with password reset links for an account I don’t remember owning (the username seems like an account I would reasonably own, but I don’t recall ever having an account under this username), but when I look up the account it doesn’t exist. I thought at first someone blocked my personal account and then tried to access some old account I forgot about, but I asked my friends to look up the account and they’re not able to find it either. From what I can tell, these are genuine emails from Instagram. Is this a bug, a weird phishing attempt, or something else I’m too naïve to think of? Is there any way to find this account?

I recently emailed a few breed clubs of breeds I’m interested in and expressed interest in seeking an adult dog. One of them got back to me with a very kind response, and as a sidebar offered membership to the club and said she could help me get sponsors.

I figure the specifics all generally vary and consist of going to meetings, attending/volunteering at shows, representing the breed at various events, etc etc. But I’m not quite sure what she meant by sponsors.

Are there any other responsibilities of a breed club member that you’re familiar with? And will they let me in without currently owning a dog of this breed yet? I just don’t want to look stupid when I reply to her email asking what the heck she’s talking about, haha.

Hello! I’m looking into getting a purebred dog for my next dog. (I’m doing research on various terriers and recently have had a great experience with an American Hairless Terrier handler at a show so I’m sort of interested in them, though not sure if I can commit to the bald of it all, haha.) My current lease says I can’t have a puppy and specifically says any dogs on the lease must be over the age of 2 as proven on official vet records. I know there are breed-specific rescues out there, but I’m aware of another option being adopting retired breeding dogs/bitches. I want to do some more research down this path as well, so here are my questions:

1. I was wondering what the general consensus was on what a fair price for this would be. I ask partly so I can begin setting money aside, but primarily so I can ensure I’m having these conversations with the right people. I wouldn’t want any of my money to go to the wrong place. I’d bet it depends on the breed, but what would you say is a fair average?
2. In my precursory research on this so far, I can mostly find discussions of adopting retired mill dogs, which outline potential behavior concerns from that environment. Totally understandable. In coming from an ethical breeding/show environment, are there any potential behavioral concerns I should expect to work through? Are these dogs better suited for single-dog home life or are they okay with a housemate?
3. How do you start these sorts of conversations? Do you generally stalk a breeder’s Facebook and wait for them to announce a retirement, or do you send a cold email letting them know you’re interested? Are there waitlists for these sorts of things or are people generally more interested in puppies? In short, what’s the etiquette here?

To all of my fellow newbies who ask how to get started and get bombarded with responses saying, “go to a show!” If you’re frustrated by that sentiment, I have to say firsthand they're right.

Yesterday I went to a show. When I was a kid my dad took me to the national AKC show in PA to spectate, so this was my first as an adult. I was hanging around the show rings when someone came to set up her things to go in. I complimented her dog and she asked if I wanted to run one in the ring. I thought she was joking, but it turns out she entered two dogs and her friend who was supposed to help handle didn’t show up. I was just a kind, trustworthy stranger and I had never done this before, but she insisted she’ll do the actual showing of each dog, we’d switch out dogs, and then when they do the group run I’d take one of them and follow her.

Another handler ended up coming over and offering their hands so I didn’t need to, but I was totally down! Just being in the right place at the right time can get you places. I saw a lot of this- handlers bringing too many dogs and not having enough people. I’m not saying if you go to a show you’ll get thrown onstage with a random dog because that‘s so silly, but if you extend kindness to other dog people in person, it seems much easier to get into the world of it.

I definitely want to go to more shows. I had a great time. I wish I had gotten this lady’s information but I had another ring I wanted to spectate at I was running a bit late to. Maybe I’ll run into her at a future show!

I just placed an order with White Whale and checked out with Google Pay. Google Pay autofilled my billing address as my shipping address which is NOT the right one. I couldn’t find a spot to cancel my order or change the address. I filled out the contact form on their website right away- are they pretty responsive? Or are they an “all sales are final” type of shop? I’m sooo stressed over this haha

It’s my dog’s birthday and Fi gave us a nice birthday card in the app. It wrote out a poem that was pretty specific about my dog, including her coat texture and a pun about her name. At the end a little watermark popped up, “powered by ChatGPT.” I‘m not a fan of AI so I didn’t like it that much. In a world where Chewy commissions artists to send out random pet portraits just out of kindness, I think Fi’s use of AI here is kind of lazy. Has your dog gotten one? What are your thoughts on it?

I just joined SoFi mostly to be able to open a savings account to put a set amount of each paycheck away for rent each month so I am not tempted to use my full paycheck when it hits my main bank account. I was having trouble with opening a savings account with my main bank because it’s a regional bank which I have since moved away from the region it’s homed in and I can’t open a savings account without visiting a branch and, well, you get the picture.

My question is this: my job gives us small bonuses every few weeks based on revenue made divided amongst the in-house team that day, usually anywhere from $5-60, and they come separately to our regular biweekly paychecks. If I set my direct deposit to send $600 from each paycheck to my savings account but I only earn $10 from one of these bonuses, will that cause issue, or will SoFi treat that as just depositing 100% of the check? Totally fine by me if it deposits all of the check to the account, I just want to make sure I’m not causing any bugs with the system with my current payment setup. Thanks!

I got the 3+ for 6 months free as a promotional gift from my job and I think I may keep it past the first 6 months, but I’m still overall undecided. I could be swayed either way. I think the statistics are interesting but ultimately we live in an apartment in a gated community and she’s always chipped and wearing a collar, so I feel confident we’ll be fine without the tracking. But that’s not a discussion for this post.

My main problem is it seems to rub a bit harshly on my bully mix’s neck. I’ve never needed to be concerned about irritation from a collar before, as we’ve just used standard clip or buckle collars from PetCo with no issue. I’ve noticed her Fi is a bit wider than collars we’ve tried before (she’s a bully/shih tzu mix so she’s 30lbs and about 20 inches tall, so I tend to pick out thinner collars for her) so I wonder if she’s just not used to the width or if it’s something with the material being more abrasive.

I know Fi has the page on their website with Fi-compatible dealers and I was looking through them- they’re all so expensive compared to the odd $20 PetCo collar, especially if I’m not sure if I want to keep it past our first 6 months (we’re around month 2). I was wondering if anyone had any favorites from their website, or knew of any hidden gems not on their website. The $40+ range I’ve seen from most of their featured shops is a little steep, but if you can give me a good enough review I’ll fork it over! Ultimately I just want her to be comfortable, and her current situation is clunky and abrasive. All suggestions welcome!

My partner and I recently bought some slimes from Pilot Slimes and I’m SO antsy about it. Years and years ago I bought some slimes from someone (I think Slime OG but I can’t remember) so this will be my first time sliming in a long time, and my partner’s first time sliming ever. After we ordered I learned Pilot Slimes has a pretty slow processing time (totally fine, no rush, totally understand small business needs) but I’m just so excited! Any suggestions for shops that ship quicker for next time? Or any suggestions for store-bought brands that hold up to the real thing? We’re pretty close to SlooMoo, how do their slimes hold up? We’re new here and we’re ready to slime!!!

My dog (2, F, spayed) has recently started this behavior where whenever she gets over-tired, she starts licking mine or my partner’s legs. If we tell her no, she chooses to mount our legs. She doesn’t ever do this in the daytime, only when she is ready to sleep. Also she is really shy about mounting so if we look at her weird she stops and stares at us awkwardly. Does anyone else’s dog do this? Is she telling me it’s time for bed or is she telling me she’s overstimulated? I want her to feel comfy!

Hi all, I semi-recently made a post in r/ShowDogs asking how to get started and mentioned in the comments I was interested in Teddy Roosevelt Terriers (AKA Type B Rat Terriers). A lot of commenters suggested I reach out to some Rat Terrier owners/handlers in my area to make connections, so I’ve come to here to attempt to do that. I would love to learn more about ratties and hopefully connect with the people that love them, especially those of you in the Chicagoland area! If anyone has any recommendations of other groups to try reaching out to (especially Facebook) or shows/meetups to attend, I’m open to hearing them! I’m looking to get out to a show this summer to spectate but I’m not really sure where to start and I don’t drive so it has to align with my partner‘s schedule, as he has a car.

For a little bit of context about me and what I’m looking for specifically: I currently have a mixed-breed girl who I love and who got me excited about terriers (she’s an American Bully/Shih Tzu mix, but before getting the DNA test I thought she was a JRT mix because of her wirey coat and drivey attitude), but in the next few years after having a bit of money saved up would love to get into conformation and other sports. I don’t have a license right now so that’s the big thing holding me back, but many have suggested starting with a smaller breed with low grooming needs in order to get my head in the game.

I need to board my dog on Thursday so I wanted to wait until Thursday morning to charge it while she was boarding because they’re not allowed to wear personal collars in group play anyway. Will we make it? 👀 Got the notification Monday at 7 PM and I hope it’ll last until Thursday at 6 AM at least!

Hello. I work in the dog industry. A few months ago I was bit by a dog, the bite got infected, and I needed to open a workers’ comp case for it. I went to the approved clinic, did three follow up visits, and the infection healed and drained after soaking it and taking antibiotics as prescribed.

The antibiotics they gave me caused a yeast infection. The next week I would be going to my PCP (which would be cheaper with my own insurance than opening a separate case at this urgent care), so I asked the provider if I would be able to put it on this case or if I could wait a week to see my regular doctor for it for less money than a test at this (out of network) urgent care would be for me. The nurse was honest with me and said she didn’t think so and she would have to talk to the PA who was treating me. She spoke with the PA who then made a phone call (I could hear her talking on the phone outside my door). After about 20 minutes of waiting, the PA came in and confirmed to me we could do it on this case as a yeast infection is a common symptom of the antibiotics they prescribed and so technically it was related to the initial infection.

Flash forward to today, I just got a bill in the mail from them. Is there anything I can do at this point? I’ve reached out to my claim adjuster (who is on vacation currently I guess) and to the billing department of the urgent care (though it’s hard because I work weekdays during business hours and so I can never speak to a human being, only leave voicemails). I want to make sure I’m taking the appropriate steps.

Unrelated to this bill but CVS also did not know how to process a WC claim either time I went so I paid for both if the medications I was prescribed out of pocket. So that’s cool. Overall really annoying for something that could happen again given the field I’m in so I want to make sure I’m prepared for the future.

I just got my first internet bill. At the beginning of the month I had trouble setting up my internet so I needed to wait a few days for a technician to come set up my internet for me. It turns out I was being silly and was using the wrong port. I apparently had one port that was painted over by the landlord, and one port (hidden behind my moving boxes, oops) that was the correct one. I went internetless for a week because I was silly. Totally on me. They sent a technician out for me and explicitly told me it would not cost extra. The technician arrived on his scheduled day, was there for literally five minutes while he found the right port, plugged in the router, and had me finish the setup on my app on my phone. I woke up this morning to pay my bill and was hit with a $100 technician charge. The agent was able to waive it immediately but is this normal? And why did they tell me it would be free In the original chats?

I’ve been out of this game for 2 years, I stopped because my partner, who I used to play with a lot, had issues with his Deluxe membership so he was no longer interested in playing and we just moved on to other things. We’re trying to get back into it so I restarted my Deluxe Membership- I purchased the reoccurring monthly option while in-game. I got a confirmation email from the Ganz eStore. It didn’t show up immediately so I figured I’d have to log back out and in again. We were planning on going to the beach anyway so I logged out and didn’t open it again until I got back. I just logged in now and tried to buy something from the W-Shop with the Deluxe logo on it. The popup telling me to purchase the membership came up and realized I I wasn’t able to interact with any of the Deluxe features. I just emailed Ganz for support but it’s just past the time of their support offices closing for the day so I won’t get any official input until tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips/similar experiences/want to vent in the meantime? Is Ganz usually pretty responsive with things like this?

Also, side question: when I have my Deluxe membership activated, will they consider my account a “full” account since I sent them money? Or is that just specifically for adopting a pet within the last year?

I know it’s a self-paced thing but I have heard of people needing to purchase extensions. I enrolled because I work a full-time job and a part-time job and didn’t have time for classes. I’m currently struggling a bit with motivation, but trying to get back on track because when I started in April, I finished one section of a course a day, now it’s more like one section a week. A lot of people ask about how quickly you can finish but I want to know how slowly I can finish without being punished for taking too long? What is the ideal pacing? My track is the Vet Tech AS.

I can’t drive. It was a dream of mine as a kid to do conformation and now that I’m an adult with money and free will I’d love to get into the sport. I’ve read all of the AKC articles and dozens of Reddit threads and social media posts with tips and advice and I feel like I have a solid foundation of knowledge on it- as much as I can get through just reading, of course. That being said, it seems that currently my biggest hurdle is I can’t drive. Is this something I should figure out before even looking at a breed, or are there ways to make it work without a vehicle? Feel free to crush my dreams a bit here, I may need a reality check! Also, open to any newbie tips if you have them!
