Why am I genuinely feeling emotional?
Was this in the original game?...dude this hit me like a truck

While seasons 2 and 3 are better, season 1 had this, and it’s a shame we didn’t see it much afterwards.
Specifically ones where Kris talks. I know it’s not exactly accurate but I feel like doing some dramatic stuff if
He’s become a bit of a meme in my friend group, and I honestly love that. He’s just such a chill, lovable guy with so much personality.
And yes, him and Zepla (Comicraptor) are still together, and always will be in my heart <3
Overall, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who still remembers my bird boi :>

I’m aware that the show was an American-Canadian co production, with most of the writers and storyboard artists being from WGBH in Boston, but the voice actors and animation were mostly produced in Toronto if I’m correct.
But also, the concept of the show itself mostly originated from Canada, so it’s fair to say it’s my favourite Canadian cartoon, right? Idk
What hurts even more is that despite Edd and Molly begging her not to drag herself down further and accept help, their attempts were ultimately in vain.
"You deserve a good life"
Fuck, man...
I LOVE THIS SHES SO CUUUUTEEEEE
Though the skirt was a pain in the arse
Back in 2022, Chikn Nuggit, a usually lighthearted and silly series, would begin giving hints at a much grander and heavy storyline coming to fruition with the introduction of Bezel, and later the revelation that Chikn Nuggit is in fact, a demigod. This arc changed how a lot of fans, including myself, saw the show. For better or for worse.
To make things clear, the lore arc is a complicated subject for me, as I don’t think it’s a bad idea on paper. The execution on the other hand, is where things get messy.
The buildup to it all was…interesting to say the least. Bezel showed up in 2022, who was already a drastic change in terms of character design, and we would later learn about who Chikn really is thanks FF and Iscream.
For the next few months, Chikn slowly starts being taunted by Bezel’s presence, and we see more of Bezel’s foreshadowing of the apocalypse, blah blah blah. After a while, it just kind of stops. We later learn that this is actually because of Chikn trying to keep things as normal as possible. I’m not sure why he seemed so curious about it in the first place then.
The arc kind of goes quiet for a while, and stays that way until Cheezborger and Cofi get together.
This marks a major turning point in the dynamic between Chikn and Chee. It dawns on Chikn that everyone seems to have a duo that they’re a part of. Chee used to be his closest other, but now Cofi seems to have taken that place from him. He’s at first happy for Chee, but slowly starts to realize how much she’s prioritizing her love life over any of her friendships, including him.
I will say, I think this was a genius move. The twist of Chikn starting Armageddon wasn’t just random, but a very severe change in his life that took a massive toll on his mental state.
As the episodes go on, Chikn’s loneliness gets worse and worse, realizing how empty his life feels without Chee by his side. Bezel takes advantage of Chikn’s poor mental state, and finally reminds him of how much he is truly capable of. Chikn, out of morbid curiosity, imagines Cheezborger suddenly wanting to play with him…and she does. Chikn is absolutely terrified, and it doesn’t take long for him to slowly go insane from confusion and stress.
Now, before I continue, I’d like to give my own thoughts here:
I think the SETUP of the lore was actually very well done. While at the time, waiting for the story to actually continue was pretty exhausting, because there were periods where almost nothing lore related really happened, and the jokes in the episodes weren’t really that funny.
However, looking back, I think the slow buildup in the background made it a lot more intriguing. It’s this looming event in the show that we know is going to happen, but we can’t expect anytime soon, so the best we can do is ignore it. But every now and then, getting a reminder is important. That one episode where Sody hangs a drawing on Slushi’s fridge is probably the only episode of the show that genuinely scared me.
However, I think the buildup towards the climax, specifically during the time when Sody Pop lashed out at Chikn after finding out his powers weren’t real, really left you on the edge of your seat, making you wonder where Chikn was gonna go after all this.
But, in my opinion, the crowning achievement of the lore arc, and the greatest moment in the entire story, has to be this episode:

This episode is, to put it simply, brilliant. Not a single word is spoken, but you can understand the tension and horror of the situation perfectly. This is Chikn’s last cry for help before he falls into a pit of despair, fully embracing his Demigod nature, and by the time Chee finally realizes that something is wrong…she’s too late.
So, in my opinion, this is where things start to fall apart. Chikn is now fully embracing his Demigod of chaos form, and Armageddon has officially begun. But what went wrong?
Well, first of all…almost immediately, when Chee and Slushi (Cofi is gone for some reason) confront fwench fwy about this…the dialogue and voice acting are just a mess.
Chee sounds like she’s trying to be nervous about this, but doesn’t want to wake anyone up. Slushi sounds completely indifferent to the situation. The way she says “Was something bad supposed to happen?” Sounds more like she’s talking to a child than actually being worried about the implication.
I know Chee and Slushi’s VAs aren’t professional voice actors, but still, the lack of genuine emotion coming from them is extremely frustrating. I’ll give Vivian credit, at least she’s *kind of* trying, but come on, raise your voice, man!
But the worst part? FWENCH FWY.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Fwenchie, but they were just…infuriating here.
You’d think that considering how nervous they were about not messing Chikn up, Fwench Fwy would be completely panicked about this…but they act like it’s not a big deal and that everything is under control. I know Fwench fwy has to be the bigger person for everyone, but they don’t even show a SLIGHT bit of concern for Chikn or what was going on. Like, you had ONE JOB MY GUY. You were supposed to look after him, and yet you completely ignored him when he was having a nervous breakdown!
Things only get weirder..and longer. The world gets more corrupted and broken, Bezel turns into a bear (deserved) and they eventually trap Chikn inside of a bubble to keep him contained while he’s in this state.
Eventually, after not doing anything for ages, Chee finally suggests to go inside and talk to Chikn herself. This is arguably where the most divisive part of the arc starts.
Cheezborger confronts Chikn by calmly telling him that she’s his best friend and that he doesn’t have to be like this. As Chikn grows more aggressive, she becomes very impatient and even tells him “shut up! Stop acting like this!”
Despite the fact that Chee insists on “knowing” Chikn, there isn’t much of a sign of the connection these two had prior to the arc. In fact, Chee just assumes it’s Chikn simply “wanting to be something else” with Chikn not even giving any signs that he’s genuinely upset with her for something. If Chikn’s jealousy is the reason for all this, this scene doesn’t really make it obvious.
If you ask me, the demigod arc should’ve been Chikn masking himself. He doesn’t think he has any sort of true purpose in life after growing distant from Chee, so he embraces it, thinking it’s all he has, when deep down, he is hurting from his loneliness.
Chee should realize this pretty quickly, and ask him, “Wait…is that was this is all about?” THEN Chikn would open up.
However, in the final few episodes, Chikn accidentally puts Chee into a brief sleep, before they escape the barrier. It’s here when in canon Chikn tells Chee about his feelings of jealousy.
This is where one of my biggest issues comes in. Chikn tells her all this in a very…judgemental, and insincere way. He sounds like he strongly believes he is in the right, without really considering he could be wrong.
Rather than “what you did was not nice. You should not have done that.” Chikn should’ve instead spoke more from his heart. “Since you started dating Cofi, I’ve just felt so alone. I’m really happy for you, but…I miss you. I miss being with you. I know you have a relationship now..but….whenever you’d constantly reject my offers to go hang out with her…deep down…It really hurt.”
Obviously I’m not the best scriptwriter, but my point is that Chikn sounds like she owed him something for what she did, when in my opinion, he should’ve talked to her honestly, without trying to justify himself.
To summarize, while I know Chikn Nuggit is a positive show, it tends to be so positive that it ignores an aspect of empathy that comes with kindness. Chikn felt jealous, and that’s something people can relate to. You don’t have to sugarcoat it to make him look better, not to mention they didn’t really lean into just how important Chee was to Chikn and the story of their friendship as a whole, which made the final resolution feel unearned, and they didn't lean into Chikn's emotional state enough for his feelings to look genuine. It’s why I really hated the idea that Chikn and his demigod form are two separate entities, it really defeats the whole point of Chikn’s form being an emotional response.
I've always had these thoughts and I figured through what's going on right now, I should make something related to it. Despite my problems with the show and the direction it has taken, I should state that I still love the characters and the world Kyra Kupetsky has created, and I will always be grateful for the friends I've made because of this show.
thank you for coming to my TED talk lol.
I was contemplating whether or not to give him lashes but he’s adorable either way
I put this together during a magma session
So, I’ve watched Come and See. But a war based film that I’ve also heard about is Schindler’s List, directed by Spielberg himself. My parents always told me “beautiful movie, never watching it again.”
They mention how that movie will break your heart and completely destroy you, and after seeing Come and See, which already left me incredibly shaken…is Schindler’s list any worse in terms of being disturbing or upsetting? I know that’s a subjective question, but I’ve heard so much about Schindler being horrific and sad and I’m mainly curious if it’s a movie that I could handle if I watched the other.
EDIT:
Thanks for the input. I should definitely watch SL at some point in my life.
Sorry, episode 5 was amazing but it really messed me up 😭
The new episode comes out the day I get home from vacation, I’m so excited
Considering the direction Martin wants the series to go in, a part of me feels like he’s not gonna push it that far, although I did have this idea for how it would go down:
Rosemary’s death could possibly cut between her actual graphic death and sudden clips of Bon dancing with Sha, or something else similar. Idk I thought it was a cool idea
Since I’m at a lake rn I thought it’d be a good time to post these cute doodles I made a while back :>
Thanks to SeamstressStitches for making the transparent image for me
I can name a few:
- In the episode where Chee is too scared to confess to Cofi, her burger colours are messed up.
- Multiple episodes contain Chee’s colours being swapped.
- Slushi’s Hair tuft is missing during her close up in her VERY FIRST APPEARANCE
- Fwench Fwy had eyeliner in one episode.
- probably the most famous example, In the episode where Sody asks Chikn for a pop, his white streaks on his eyes are missing while he’s doing his little jig.
Any others you guys have seen?
