What keeps you playing a survivors-like? 5-minute player research survey

Hey everyone! I’m conducting a short survey about what players enjoy, dislike, and look for in survivors-likes, bullet heavens, and action roguelites.

It covers upgrades, run structure, progression, playable characters, bosses, and the things that make people either start another run or quit playing.

It should take approximately 5 minutes. Responses are anonymous unless you voluntarily leave contact information for possible future research or playtesting.

Thanks to anyone willing to share their perspective!

Puzzle game fans: what makes a puzzle feel fair versus frustrating?

I released my first puzzle game on Steam this week and one of the things I worried about most during development was making puzzles feel challenging without feeling unfair.

For those of you who regularly play puzzle games:

  • What makes you stick with a puzzle?
  • What makes you quit?
  • What are some common puzzle design mistakes you see?

For context, this is the game I released:

I'm primarily looking for design feedback and discussion, any thoughts or advice is appreciated! :)

Researching Cozy Game Players (3-5 Minute Survey)

Hi everyone,

I'm conducting research on what players enjoy, dislike, and look for in cozy games.

The goal is to better understand player motivations, favorite progression systems, collection mechanics, common frustrations, and what keeps players engaged long-term.

The survey takes approximately 3-5 minutes to complete:

I'm hoping to gather feedback from players of games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Fields of Mistria, Dredge, Dave the Diver, and other cozy or collection-focused games.

Once enough responses come in, I plan to analyze the results and identify common themes around what players value most in the genre.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

After 6 months of development, my puzzle platformer launches in 10 days. Here’s the latest trailer.

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on my first commercial game over the last 6 months and wanted to share it here.

Where Stones Sleep is a single-screen puzzle platformer focused on experimentation, discovery, and hand-crafted puzzles. The goal was to teach mechanics through play rather than lengthy tutorials and create those satisfying “aha!” moments when a solution clicks.

The game launches on Steam on June 22, and I’d love to hear what puzzle game fans think of the trailer.

I've spent the last 6 months building a relaxing puzzle platformer focused on experimentation instead of combat or time pressure. Launching June 22.
