Color opinions for wheel powder coating

Ive been trying to decide what to do with the wheels on my Jeep Renegade. You can see in the original picture that the wheels are stained with this white streaking. Ive have tried everything to get it out, even take it to be detailed, and its ingrained into the metal so seems permanent.

I am looking at potentially getting the wheels powder coated and am looking for opinions on the color. I like the look of bronze wheels but dont know if they look alright like this with keeping the trim silver. The car is black. Also dont know if the center cap should be kept black or painted to match the bronze.

Edit: Other option I was considering the the bronze middles and doing the trim in black

White streaks stained onto wheels

Had this car since 2019. Over the years all of the wheels started to look like this. They used to be the color of the plastic center cap in the middle. The streaks seem to be stained from not the metal. They don’t have any texture, no roughness or anything. I’ve tried different wheel specific cleaners, regular soap and water. Nothing even takes it off a little. Any idea what it is or what could remove it?

Anwhere to see an Indian Giant Squirrel in US?

Couldn’t find anything on Google but was wondering if there was anywhere in the US, I’m in Ohio so preferably somewhat close to that, that you could see an Indian Giant Squirrel. My mom absolutely adores all her squirrels and I would love to be able to show her one

Can Truenas override das sleep timer?

Planning on trying out Truenas for the first time since I am running out of space on my current 2 bay Nas. I am planning on using an Orico 9758C3 5 bay das that I picked up for a good price along with a mini pc I already have.

Apparently the Orico has a built in sleep timer that will power down all the drives after 20 minutes of no activity. I don’t want this to happen since I will be using it in my plex server that is used daily. Will Truenas built in power options override that das sleep timer and keep the drives powered on?

Price and increase way higher than expected

Did I miss something in the announcement? I thought it was up to $6 per line? This is a 4 line plan and it went up nearly $50

Cannot make up my mind on a new setup

SETUP

This is going to be long but I want to make sure I give all the information. I want to upgrade my NAS setup but I genuinely cannot make a decision. I have been thinking about this for months and am just struggling to decide which is the right choice.

My Uses: Plex server, photo storage, and general backups.

Current Setup: Synology DS220+ / 2x WD Red 8tb in Raid 1 for redundancy. Everything on this raid is also backed up to another 8tb WD Red attached externally.

Ive been using this setup for about 4 years now and its been great. Has worked flawlessly the whole time. Only reason im looking to upgrade is im running out of space. I could switch my raid type but I do like having the redundancy drive on top of my external backup.

HDDs Available: 3x WD Red 8tb, 3x Toshiba MG08 16tb

The 3 WDs will be moved into whatever new setup I go with. I just picked up the 3 16tb Toshibas to open up more options for me (and because they were a pretty decent price).

Other Currently Owned Equipment: Orico 9758C3 5 Bay DAS, Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q (i7 6700t, 16gb DDR4 2666, 1tb nvme).

OPTIONS

Through all the research ive done I see 3 viable choice for the new setup.

  1. Synology 425+

Pros: Familiarity with the OS, Very stable system thats been around forever

Cons: Dated hardware, Synology removing features (most can be reactivated with a script)

  1. Ugreen DXP4800 Plus

Pros: Much better hardware than Synology (better cpu, more default ram, 10gbe port)

Cons: Mostly just growing pains stuff with a newer unit. OS isnt as stable or full featured as DSM yet, No native Plex Server app (has to be done through docker), no guarantee they can stick around and compete in the long run so worries about it being abandoned and not receiving updates.

  1. Make my own NAS setup

Pros: More control over hardware and software choices, probably lots of other stuff I dont know

Cons: More hardware to keep track of, not as clean of a setup as just a prebuilt NAS, would have to completely learn a new OS (have never used anything like unraid, truenas, etc), would most likely have to buy a new mini PC as I think the 6700t would be showing its age for Plex at this point.

HDD SETUP

What my initial thought was with any of these options was to set up the 3 WD Red 8tb in a Raid zero to maximize space and speed from them. I would also have one of the 16tb Toshibas in there with scheduled backups from the 24tb raid 0 to it. I would then use one of the other 16tb the same way I am now as a separate external backup in an enclosure attached to the NAS. The third 16tb would likely just be kept as a spare in case of a drive failure in the future.

All the important stuff (photos and other backed up documents are also stored on a cloud subscription too). The rest is just media files for plex which wouldnt be too hard to replace if I ever needed to.

Sorry again for the wall of text I just wanted to be thorough.

Seller app completely broke my messenger notifications

If you haven’t seen there is a new app for selling on Marketplace called Seller. It has messenger essentially built into it. While I had the app installed testing it all my notifications for new messages now came from the Seller app.

After a few days of trying it out I decided to remove it until they fix some problems. The issue is that now I just get no notifications at all for new messages.

I’ve checked my notification settings in both the Messenger app and my iPhones settings. Everything is turned on like it should be. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, I’ve restated my phone. Nothing seems to fix it and I’m not sure what else I can even try. I sent in a report through the messenger app but I don’t know if that will do anything.

Help finding more info in this detector

Picked this up today at a flea market cause the guy had it for seemingly very cheap. Tested it out and it seems to be working fine and is in very good shape. Tried doing some research into it but am struggling to find much. Seems like it’s potentially more for like industrial or construction use instead of personal use?

When I google it I mainly only get links to the manual which I already have and the link to the one guy trying to sell one on eBay for what seems like an astronomical price to me.

Just mainly looking to see if this is something I could use or if I’d be better off selling it and getting something more meant for personal use.

Can anyone identify what these are?

Seller claims they are 12 and 16tb Elements Desktop external hard drives. Unless I’m missing something or just not seeing the picture correctly these are barely taller than the ac adapters so no way they can be hard drives. I tried looking up desktop SSDs too but that came up with nothing. Google lens search gave me no helpful results either.

Is this setup correct for best transfer speeds from one computer?

https://preview.redd.it/d7l9flk26hah1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=3017f28c7e77c992de906f169dae0013288a8d6f

Hi everyone, just wanted to make sure this setup would be correct to ensure im getting the fastest possible transfer speeds from my desktop to my NAS. The vast majority of my transfers come from this PC so

Current setup: DS220+, everything is just connected to the switch since the DS220+ only has 1GbE ports anyways.

New Setup: DXP4800 Plus, PC connected directly to the NAS via 10GbE card to the NAS 10GbE port. I would also connect the switch to the 2.5GbE ports on both the PC and the NAS so they both still have their internet connection. I already own everything in the diagram except the 10GbE card for the PC.

  1. Would this setup work as im expecting?

  2. Is this the best way to do it or would it be better to just get a switch that has 10GbE ports? (that would still require me buying the 10GbE card for the PC)

  3. Would this maintain the ability for other devices to access the NAS via the network as it normally does?

Stop “review older listings” & “relist items” pop ups?

Every time I open my active listings page on the app it pops up these two things. Is there any way to stop it from happening?

If I tap review on the review older listings one it tells me the don’t have any listings older than a month so I don’t know why it keeps saying it.

As for the relist items one it just shows me a bunch of items that I already marked as sold through marketplace and reviewed the buyers. Why would I want to realist items I already sold? I don’t know if it would stop if I deleted all the old sold listings but there’s are hundreds of them so that would be a pain to have to go through and delete them all

TS-216g as a simple NAS for my mom?

Just looking for a very simple NAS setup for my Mom. It will pretty much only be used for file/photo storage. It seems like this option would fit what im looking for and I have to opportunity to pick one up for a very good price. I have never used QNAP products before so I just want to make sure im not missing anything.

Planned setup is 2 2TB drives set up in raid 1. Will be more than enough space for her and she wants the maximum file protection so I figured having the drives mirrored for her is the best bet. She also has everything backed up to a separate external ssd.

I have talked to her multiple times about cloud storage options but she is fully against it no matter how secure I tell her it is. I just want her to have this as another backup option so everything isnt in one spot.

Used 4 bay options are all more expensive than a new DS425+?

Im looking to move to a 4 bay from my DS220+. The DS425+ is $415 to buy brand new right now. I was looking for some potentially cheaper used options but both the 920+ and the 423+ are more expensive used than the 425 is new. I cant find a 920 under $500 and the 423+ seems basically impossible to find anywhere.

Is there something im missing about the 425+ that makes it that much worse than its predecessors? Both the older options have the same processor but both lack 2.5GbE. I know there was the initial problem with the hard drive restrictions that have since been rolled back.

I assume there has to be some other drawbacks to the new one to be causing this but when I try and research all I find is people talking about the proprietary hard drive issue which is outdated.

Edit: I found a thread discussing the removal of hardware transcoding on the 25 models. I guess this is probably the main issue. I dont really use transcoding right now but would like to keep it as an option in the future. I guess my best option is paying up for a 920+ then? Or should I just be looking into other brands?

They have seemingly disappeared from the fried appz section and I can only find them in the premium sampler now. Have they been discontinued?
