PIA is a stupid corporate sponsorship

David is a sellout for accepting this sponsorship. You can completely own your entire networking stack rather than passing your traffic off to some random server that will result in increased CAPTCHAs. Save your money. Own your data. Increase your privacy. Tell the FCC to fuck themselves. Verify that there are no logs by showing law enforcement an SSH session. Retire sooner.

Bring hacktivism into the anti-Trump movement

We need to bring about Les Mis-style change to these corrupt grifters. I feel that any successful civil disobedience movement needs to be very large scale in order to be successful. Gandhi marched across India. I feel that, and much political science literature agrees, we need a multi-pronged approach to bring down these hoodlums. Given that I am an engineer by day, I would like to lead a hacktivist movement. We need to stop the steal of our taxes, so I propose large scale DDoS attacks on Robinhood and Truth Social (private companies, private servers, nothing illegal). I want to make sure that fatass scumbag cannot access his the stock trades or promote any more, and by stealing our taxes from a DOJ slush fund. Clearly yesterday's Senate hearing was just political buzzwords, and we have to take matters into our own hands.

But, if I am going to invest the time in doing this, it will stick. Such an attack will require a lot of interested people. Your IP address will be protected, nobody will be able to see it. I may also work on a few other things to make this cyberattack as painful as possible for the large corporations that are pillaging America.

Oh and don't ban me because I'll just go to a platform with less stringent content moderation like 4chan. It is important that we stick together and rid this government of corruption urgently. If you disagree, go back and watch Les Mis.

Trump and senior admin officials + Robinhood

We know that a lot of people use Signal, so using retail apps is clearly commonplace for this government. In today's presser, Vance said that Trump trades the stocks that he advertises on Truth Social on Robinhood. Can anyone confirm that this is in fact irrefutably true?

If so, I would like to stop the steal of our taxes with a DDoS attack on Robinhood servers. That my friends, is the proper way to fight the administration of grifters. If they want to be corrupt idiots, then they will pay for knowing absolutely nothing about how the Internet works.

Schitt's Creek spinoff idea

We all know that unfortunately, there will be no Schitt's Creek reboot. But, what if there was a spinoff featuring Roland, Jocelyn, Mutt, and Roland Jr? Maybe Patrick takes Moira's place on council due to the new season of Sunrise Bay? What other ideas do you have for the Schitt Family spin off?

I created my own VPN. AMA.

I have my own WireGuard VPN with servers in Australia, US, Canada, Russia, UK, Germany, and Japan. I have a Bash script running that, assuming criteria are met to verify the server is idle, pings each server and picks the one with the lowest latency. It is completely hands off, unless I want to review a logfile. Feel free to ask any questions you have!

Advertisements for Private Internet Access

Please just know that if you use a commercial VPN, your Internet traffic still goes through whatever data center wherever you have it set. You will likely still see a rise in anti-bot verification checks. Remember that the only way to have truly private Internet access is to WireGuard from server to server. Servers that you can name, servers that you trust, servers that you own. What is the advantage to doing this? We can all fight bad actors and bots and spam on the Internet, together. Best of all, all of this is free. Nobody should ever advertise a VPN to you. Too bad Lina Khan is on a break from power.

COVID-19 and Careers

Really narrow question, but a few years ago, this article was published and I am wondering what the medium-range implications of graduating into the pandemic are. I know that there was a similar question yesterday, but specifically, how do you feel that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your career? Do you think you would be farther ahead now?

Alexis' type

Amazing how Alexis went from wanting to marry a homelessy-looking bearded guy like Mutt to dating Artie Camden. She would have never been with Artie during her jetsetting days on the Sultan's yacht.

Thoughts on Hetzner?

The American Internet is dead. Completely enshittified beyond the point of no return. I also forget I have large torrents running, and my ISP bitches and moans when I accidentally turn off my VPN. Is Hetzner still notorious for hosting shady Internet activity? If so, I will just tunnel my torrenting client to a Hetzner VPS since the Germans are cool about it.

My other thought is a Russian VPS. Yes, Russia should have never invaded Ukraine. But global geopolitics is a shitshow anyway, and I would rather support average Russians that have nothing to do with the war. Sure, if the US government finds out what I'm doing, I'll probably share a flat with Edward Snowden. But good luck breaking my full stack without a subpoena. And the fifth amendment means I don't have to comply.

The Trump administration reboot doesn't contain any DPRK meetings. I wanna see Chairman Kim waddle out to meet Marco Rubio. Invite Kim to Washington. First guest in the ballroom. Joint address to Congress. Americans really aren't so bad. At least we don't eat grass and bugs.

I just spent 2:26:26 on the phone with Spectrum. The world record is 10 hours. Only 25% of the way there. Apparently I live in a high-split neighborhood where you cannot use Spectrum-approved hardware (modem). So I remain stuck with a $100/mo Internet bill for my HFC network and my dedicated fiber line if I want dual ISP setup for failover instances. Not to mention the customer service reps called Linux "Line-x," accused me of putting them on hold figuratively, saying paradoxes like "I don't have the ability to wait 20 minutes for you to think of questions" while at minute 120, and were most flippant and annoyed with me. Anyway, would it be nice to have a cooperative/nonprofit option for cable or fiber Internet access.

These two are the most incredible technologies on the modern Internet. The Web is finally free and open again, just as Tim Berners-Lee intended it so many decades ago at CERN. People are finally taking the Web back from corporations, and it is amazing to see. Tailscale is going to be the biggest tech company in the world by the next decade, and the GTA will overtake the Bay Area as the world's tech capital.

I am looking to reduce my subscriptions, and I am looking for someone who is has a cloud hosting business who wants to sell me a dinky Ubuntu container for $5-10USD per month. Ideally, I'd be able to ssh in to run a web server and networking configs. Thanks!

Honestly, I'm fine with someone who has a spare PC lying around and wants some cash for connecting an Ethernet cable to it.

I am in the process of a massive data dump into Immich, and I am noticing that Immich + Jellyfin != a very good combination for server health. The server has crashed twice in as many days with 8GB.
