August - Itinerary check for Highlands + Skye and ideas to reschedule.

Hey everyone,
Planning a Highlands + Skye road trip and would love a quick sanity check if this is realistic or too packed.

Day 1 Arrival (short haul flight)

Arrive Edinburgh airport late afternoon

Pick up car + drive to accommodation in direction GlenCoe, under 1h drive

Day 2 Glencoe

Lost Valley hike (main highlight)

Glen Etive scenic drive + maybe some points on road

Night at Fort William

Day 3 Fort William → Skye

Glenfinnan Viaduct

Road to the Isles drive + Ferry to Skye

Day 4 Skye (north)

Old Man of Storr hike

Quiraing hike

Stop in Portree for some shopping

Day 5 Skye (south)

Elgol

Boat trip to Loch Coruisk (depend on weather)

Sligachan bridge

Day 6 Skye → Inverness

Eilean Donan Castle

Five Sisters of Kintail views

Loch Ness / Urquhart Castle

Day 7 Inverness→ Edinburgh

Cairngorms scenic drive

Queen’s View

Stop in Pitlochry

Days 7-11 Glasgow + Edinburgh

Base in Glasgow/Edinburgh

exploring cities (Old Town, chill, viewpoints, whisky/gin etc.)

On day 11 in the morning airplane, so this is only transfer day

And now my question:

Would you change something?

My thoughts are, that I should maybe cut one night from Edinburgh and give it either to Skye or Inverness to give it more calm feeling, what do you think?

Now it is like:

* 2 nights Glen Coe area

* 3 nights Skye

* 1 night Inverness

* 4 nights Edinburgh/ Glasgow

Hidden gems in Paris from locals

Hello,

I was in Paris already two times, I love this city and would go for the 3rd time soon. I already have done some things recommended on Reddit and loved them:

  1. Boat cruise on Seine

  2. Aura Invalides light show

  3. Palais GArnier tour (150th anniversary instead of recommended Mystery tour as it was not present at the time I was there)

And here is my question - do you know any other hidden or not gems, similar case as mentioned above, that you could truly recommend?

Thank you for all your input!

Is Isle of Skye really overrated? (August trip)

Hello,

I am planning to spend 7 days in two places in Highlands 3 days Glen Coe, 3 days Isle of Skye + 1 transfer day both sides from and to Edinburgh Airport.

The more I read, the more I see opinions that I should never go to Skye because it is overrated, not that beautiful, that people come back very disappointed and why should anyone go to place like his.

Do you really think the place is that overrated or should I stick to my plan and not care about these people?

I would like to mention that it will be my first trip to Scotland, I will additionally spent 4 days in Edinburgh.

Every day same story - where to report? (Car on sidewalk)

Hi,

I am done with people staying on the sidewalk every day, everywhere.

Where can I report such behaviour?

Itinerary Scotland Highlands + Edinburgh- thoughts?

Hi all!

I'm planning an 11-day road trip in Scotland and trying to keep it balanced as much as possible. I know it is going through most popular places, but they are popular for a reason I suppose .

Main focus: Glencoe + Skye, plus a bit of Highlands and Edinburgh.

I’m wondering whether it’s worth doing 1 vs 2 days in Inverness(and cut. 1 day from Skye), or if that would make things too packed. Current plan:

**Day 0** Edinburgh → pick up car late afternoon → drive to Doune **Overnight: Doune**

**Day 1** Drive to Glencoe (Lost Valley in the morning, Glen Etive) **Overnight: Fort William**

**Day 2** Fort William → Skye (Glenfinnan Viaduct for Jacobite train view, Drive via A87 (Loch Cluanie / Glen Shiel), Eilean Donan Castle) **Overnight: Isle of Skye**

Skye (3 days)

**Day 3** – North Skye (Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Kilt Rock, Fairy Glen, Portree) **Overnight: Isle of Skye**

**Day 4** – West Skye (Fairy Pools, Talisker Bay or Glenbrittle, Cuillin views) **Overnight: Isle of Skye**

**Day 5** – Flexible Skye day, Weather dependent (Option A: Elgol + coast, Option B: (re-)visit best spots + Move to INVERNESS along Loch ness) **Overnight: Inverness**

**Day 6** Inverness evening-> Glasgow (drive through Cairngorms short way, with stop at Queen's view and maybe Pitlorchy) **Overnight: Glasgow**

**Days 7-11 Glasgow**

Do you think it is viable and what could I improve?

So shortly:

Day 1+2 Glencoe -> evening trip to Skye

Day 3-5 Skye -> evening trip to Inverness

Day 6-> trip to Glasgow/Edinburgh through Cairngorms.

Day 7-11 -> Glasgow/Edinburgh

Route A82/A87 between Fort William and Bun Loyne - to skip or not to skip?

Hello,

I am creating my Itinerary for Scotland Highlands + Skye and consider two routes:

  1. Glencoe -> Glenfinnan -> "Route to Isles" + Ferry Mallaig Armadale -> Portree (Skye)

  2. Glencoe -> Glenfinnan -> come back to Fort Williams and A82/A87 through Skye Bridge -> Portree

As after few days at the Skye I would go to Inverness/ Loch Ness area, I would skip only A82/A87 between Fort William and Bun Loyne and here is my question:

Is this part particularly scenic or is it better to take the road to the isles + ferry and forget about this part? Considering that Skye Bridge and part of the road I will take during my trip to Inverness?

Which Itinerary would you choose for Glen Coe + Skye + Glasgow

Hi all!

I'm planning an 11-day road trip in Scotland and trying to keep it balanced (not too rushed).
Main focus: Glencoe + Skye, plus a bit of Highlands and Edinburgh.

I’m wondering whether it’s worth doing 1 vs 2 days in Inverness/Highlands, or if that would make things too packed. Current plan:

Day 0 Edinburgh → pick up car late afternoon → drive to Doune Overnight: Doune

Day 1 Drive to Glencoe (Lost Valley in the morning, Glen Etive, some stops on the road) Overnight: Fort William

Day 2 Fort William → Skye (Glenfinnan Viaduct for Jacobite train view, Drive via A87 (Loch Cluanie / Glen Shiel), Eilean Donan Castle) Overnight: Isle of Skye

Skye (3 days)

Day 3 – North Skye (Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Kilt Rock, Fairy Glen, Portree) Overnight: Isle of Skye

Day 4 – West Skye (Fairy Pools, Talisker Bay or Glenbrittle, Cuillin views) Overnight: Isle of Skye

Day 5 – Flexible Skye day, Weather dependent (Option A: Elgol + coast, Option B: revisit best spots + Move to INVERNESS along Loch ness) Overnight: Inverness

Day 6 Inverness-> Glasgow (drive through Cairngorms short way, with stop at Queen's view and maybe Pitlorchy) Overnight: Glasgow

Days 7-11 Glasgow

Alternative:

1 day cut from Skye and 2 nights in Inverness, then rides around Loch Ness for Urqhuart castle, Glen Affric, Dog Falls etc.

Main question

Would you recommend:

Option A: 1 day Inverness (simpler, less driving)

Option B: 2 days Inverness (more variety, but more travel)

Trip to Scotland - Itinerary for Glen Coe + Skye + some Highlands in 7 days -> review and opinions

Hi all,

I’m planning a Scotland trip in mid-August and would really appreciate your feedback - does this itinerary make sense, or am I missing anything?

* Day 1 Arrival

Late evening arrival to Edinburgh (short flight, 2 hours), pick up the car and 1 hour drive to accommodation near Doune up to 23:00.

* Day 2 Glencoe area (early start) starting from Doune

Lost Valley (main hike ~3h) + Three Sisters -> main point, possibly around 8:00

Scenic drive down Glen Etive

Overnight in Fort William

* Day 3 Fort William → Isle of Skye

Glenfinnan Viaduct (be there at 9:30 for train at 10:50)

Scenic A87 drive (Loch Cluanie, Glen Shiel, Five Sisters of Kintail) to Skye

Eilean Donan Castle (short stop)

Sligachan Bridge (Cuillin view)

Arrival on Skye (Holbost, close to Neist Point)

* Day 4 Skye (north)

Old Man of Storr (early around 8:00, 2-3h)

Quiraing (2h hike)

Fairy Glen - optional, could be removed

Portree (food stop)

Come back to apartment

* Day 5 Skye → Inverness

Fairy Pools

Something from previous day depending on weather

Optional addition: Elgol if time/weather allow

Drive to Inverness for night

* Day 6 Loch Ness

South side of Loch Ness

Dores Beach

Urquhart Castle

coming back to Inverness acommodation

* Day 7 Inverness → Edinburgh Airport

start from Inverness

Cairngorms short ride

Queen’s View

Pitlochry (if possible and enough time)

Drive to Edinburgh Airport to left the car (overnight near airport)

Some stops are optional and will depend on time and weather, so I plan to adjust on the go.

Of course it will be adjusted during trip according to weather. It will be:

* 2 nights Glen Coe area

* 2 nights Skye

* 2 nights Highlands

What do you think:

Is anything too rushed or unrealistic?

Am I missing any “must-see” stops along these routes?

What do you think in mid-August?

Thanks a lot!

Scotland Highlands / Skye 7‑day itinerary – feedback welcome

Hi all,

I’ve put together a ~7 day Highlands + Skye road trip starting and ending in Edinburgh Airport.
Trying to balance scenic drives, short hikes, and top viewpoints without overloading the days.

Would love feedback if this makes sense or if I’m missing any must-see spots.

DAY 1 – Arrival → Fort William / Glencoe

  • Evening arrival in Edinburgh Airport and renting a car
  • Drive to Fort William / Glencoe for overnight

DAY 2 – Glen Coe (main hiking + scenic day) -> THIS IS MY MAIN DOUBT, how much is possible, what to cut if necessary?

  • Black Rock Cottage
  • Three Sisters viewpoint
  • Lost Valley hike (1.5–2h)
  • Meeting of Three Waters
  • Buachaille Etive Mòr (roadside stop)
  • Glen Etive drive → Loch Etive (end of road)
  • Skyfall waterfall
  • Return to Fort William

DAY 3 – Glenfinnan → drive to Skye

  • Glenfinnan Viaduct (timed with train if possible)
  • Loch Shiel
  • Loch Eilt (quick stop)
  • Road to the Isles (A830 scenic drive)
  • Eilean Donan Castle
  • Drive onto Skye (overnight)

DAY 4 – Skye (north & east highlights)

  • Old Man of Storr (1.5–2h)
  • Kilt Rock (quick stop)
  • Quiraing (short ridge walk)
  • Brother’s Point (probably to be removed)
  • Fairy Glen (optional)
  • Portree (overnight)

DAY 5 – Skye (south & west + sunset)

  • Sligachan Bridge (quick stop)
  • Fairy Pools (1.5–2h walk)
  • Glenbrittle Beach
  • Scenic drive through interior Skye
  • Neist Point (sunset)
  • Overnight near Fort Augustus

DAY 6 – Loch Ness → Inverness

  • Fort Augustus
  • Drive along Loch Ness
  • Falls of Foyers (short hike)
  • Suidhe Viewpoint
  • Glen Affric (if time allows)
  • Urquhart Castle
  • Inverness (overnight)

DAY 7 – Cairngorms → Edinburgh -> ALSO QUITE PACKED, if Glen Lyon not removed.

  • Inverness start
  • Aviemore (short stop)
  • Cairngorms scenic drive (A9)
  • House of Bruar (break/lunch)
  • Pitlochry
  • Glen Lyon (To be removed also?)
  • Queen’s View (final stop)
  • Return to Edinburgh Airport

What do you think about this itinerary? Then I will have like 4 days of calm visiting of Edinburgh, do you think it is viable? Anything missing or what should I skip, because I think it's packed, but not every day.

Citizen Silver Leaf - new strap according to recommendations

Some time ago I asked you for the strap options, I asked you for ideas of the strap to Citizen Silver Leaf, one of most popular recommendations was dark blue and here it is!

So I want to deliver for others for the future. Also waiting for grey strap as it was recommended.

Citizen Silver Lead NB1060-12L -> best strap options and ideas, photos welcome

Hello, I recently received my Citizen Nb1060 12L aka Silver leaf.

I found the attached strap annoying (weird mechanism to clasp it on wrist) so I decided to order other, but now I think that it the new strap does not fit well.

What would be your suggestions for the strap for this watch? What straps do you use for your Silver Leafs? I welcome any comments, ideas and most importantly PHOTOS!

Watch has specific 19mm strap, so it reduces number of options, thanks

Which blue dial do you prefer [Citizen vs Orient]

Hello,

I would like to make my collection smaller and leave only one blue dial (I am sad but I have to keep it under control).

Which one do you find more beautiful and I should keep.? What are your thoughts?

Most reliable cordless vacuum cleaner with

Hello,

My last two cordless dry-wet cleaners went dead quite quickly (Dreame H12 Dual and Rowenta X-Clean 10) and it is so annoying because I was left for few weeks without a vacuum at all and everything had to be done manually - I hate that.

Now I would like something good and most importantly reliable, not something that will die in few months.

Here is my question:

What cordless vacuum cleaner brands would you consider most reliable? I know that corded could be better but for me comfort is more important. Could be separately wet and dry or both in one.

Country: Switzerland

Budget : up to around 500 Euro

Floor: tiles and wood

[Frederique constant] Which Moneta Moonphase is the most beautiful?

Hello,

I am considering to buy Frederique Constant Moneta moonphase watch, but I am not sure which color version to choose.

Do you have them and if so, which version do you consider most eye-catching in person?

Do you think they are worth the price?

Alpharo model 1 - any photos or videos and how do you like it?

Hello,

I'm eyeing the Alpharo Model 1, but there are few or fast any materials regarding this watch. I like the design, so maybe you could share some videos or photos of the watch if you have. I am especially interested in blue and white versions.

Also your review of the watch would be great

Fun activities in Switzerland - ideas + where to find them?

Hello,

I like to do some local, interesting stuff in Switzerland, but somehow I often cannot find these things myself. USually it is like that, I speak with someone i.e. at work and I realize that something interesting is happening nearby, last examples I found are:

- Spargelfest (asparagus festival) - huge party, all about asparagus as in the name

- Treberwurst degustation - local sausage cooked on wine, pretty interesting.

So my question is - do you know any other interesting events that are worth trying and how do you find them? Thank you!

Hello, I am going to El Clasico and would like to support team as much as possible. As for now I know club Anthem and Un dia de Partit (my favorite!)

What other chants do you suggest to learn, only most popular ones, as it is not possible to learn them all. What would be your top3 to learn beside the two I already know.
