So, after ect I feel I am unable to watch any shows/video or play video games. Basically unable to consume mainstream media as I normally did before ect. Shows I'd normally watch without issue. I've seemingly lost interest in this which I found odd. It is not necessarily a bad thing, just very unexpected 😅

It is difficult to find other ways to spend my days now, and I get easily fatigued. BUT I actually managed to pull myself together and start cleaning my room which I haven't done in ages. I am also in the midst of changing my bed sheets after not being able to do so for almost two years (Yeah, super næsty, I know 😩) This is oddly nice. Makes up for the negative side effects such as the amnesia and cognitive impairment.

So, after ECT I wonder if a lot of the non-cognitive issues I have are from my antidepressant. It is just that I barely had any side effects prior to the ect. Could it be possible for the ect to make my body more prone to those side effects?

I just figured I'd share my experience with you guys. I was really hoping Ketamine would help me, but they stopped it halfway through and I had to go with ECT instead. I do have mild asthma if that counts. This is not to discourage people from trying, but rather to just make people aware of this being another possibility for both patients and doctors. The staff taking care of me were certainly surprised by this (Myself likewise).

As long as you do it in a therapeutic manner and are monitored and have the drug administered by medical personnel you should be safe.

The patient received Ketamine treatment today. Dose 0.5 mg/kg. Vital parameters were unremarkable before the start of treatment. During the treatment, the patient suddenly developed a severe coughing attack, accompanied by tachycardia where the pulse varied between 100 and 135/min. Ketamine treatment was paused and then terminated. The patient also experienced some shortness of breath in connection with the incident. During observation, blood pressure 108/73, pulse 100 and SpO2 95% were measured."

I reacted to the ketamine with mad coughing fits and difficulty breathing. They had to end the session because of it.

I do have mild asthma, so kinda weird how it triggered a full on asthma attack. They paused and my coughing went away and started up again when they started continuing the ketamine lol.

So no fancy experience for me 😔

The doctor will try to ask around and probably have me try again and have me use my inhaler prior to the infusion.

Is it a must to listen to something during? I really enjoy silence and was hoping earplugs to block all the noise out would be okay.

Hi, I've been offered ECT or ketamin therapy(I will know in a few days) I have titanium in my ear and I wonder if that can affect something if I was to undergo ECT?

Hi. The trintellix, ssri and snri I've tried hasn't worked at all. Like far from it, venlafaxine which I am currently on, have made me more depressed and suicidal.

I suffer from pdd.

The psychiatrist refuses to put me on wellbutrin because she says vyvanse I take fir my ADHD has the same effect.

I did a little reading and some sources say that tricyclic antidepressants are used to treat this disorder. I also read that some patients experience suicidal tendencies the first few weeks on it. So I wonder if those tendencies tend to lessen once the body gets used to the meds?

I am debating whether or not I should suggest these for my psychiatrist. I've been at the psych ward for weeks each time the dosage of venlafaxine has been increased for close monitoring due to risk of suicide. So I assume it would be possible to do the same with tricyclics.

The psychiatrist has told me that it takes longer for people with pdd to notice any positive effects on their depressive symptoms when starting a new antidepressant. I am almost at the highest dose of venlafaxine which I started taking in April this year. It has done wonders for my anxiety, but my depressive symptoms have gotten a lot worse. I know that I am not at the highest dose yet, but shouldn't I feel a little something by now if it was working?

Idk how much longer I can hold on. I have to take sedatives (1st gen antihistamines) ever 4 hours now just to get through the day without hurting myself. I am going to be admitted to the psych ward in a few days to sort things out and increase the dose. However, I am fearing that the suicidal tendencies and thoughts will be a lot worse.

I am asking the ones of you who've found an antidepressant that worked. How long did it take for your depressive symptoms to improve?

I have PDD, and I've been on venlafaxine since april. Am almost on the highest doseage. Will be upped to it next week. Anyways. It has done wonders for my anxiety, but my depression seems to have gotten worse, and I've been downright suicidal these past months. No noticeable improvement on that part whatsoever. The psychiatrist told me that it usually takes longer than "normal" for patients with PDD to notice improvements. I feel like I should have noticed something by now though.

At what point should I ask to try the next antidepressant on the list instead? The only reason I am still here is because they gave me sedatives to take whenever the thoughts of harming myself become too much. I can't imagine that is very healthy in the long run.

I am having insane vertigo spells with my eyes going left to right now. Never had that symptom before, so I'm curious to see if it is related.

The ent said they couldn't see any cholesteatoma in my outer ear when I saw them some weeks ago, but I have an MRI tomorrow which will tell me whether or not I have a cyst growing for the third time.

Ever since december ny eustachian tube has been acting up in a similar manner to what it did before the two previous cysts. I am tempted to ask for a cwd if this is the case yet again, but am also a bit wary due to my love of swimming.
