Work gun clone
I do FOF training about once every other month. Had an extra Colt laying around, so I figured I’d clone my work gun to train with. Next training is in a few weeks, excited to break it in.

Had an extra Colt AR laying around that I wasn’t using. I do FOF training every few months, so figured I’d dedicate a rifle to just that. Have a UTM bolt (somewhere, still looking for it) and a Simunition bolt on order.
May add an Aimpoint on here eventually, but this works well for what I use it for.
Added a Rhino Rack to the Forester, going to be adding some tie downs to carry some tools and camping supplies. Like the look of it, and the wind noise has been minimal so far at speeds up to 75mph.
I'm looking at installing a Starlink Mini on my roof rack, and am wondering how people are wiring power to lights or Starlinks.
On my older vehicles, I've drilled into the roof, but don't want to do that just yet. Current thought is to run it down the B pillar and secure it with butyl tape, it will be powered by a power station in the rear.
Any other suggestions?
20% front, 5% rear. Perfect for storing camping gear while still being able to see out at night.
Been backpacking and car camping for the past week, have a few more nights. Eno jungle hammock had the support bar snap in half when I sat in it last night. Didn’t jump in, and only weigh 150. I’ll be emailing their support when I get home.
Back to ground camping for the next few days I guess.
I’ve been backpacking and car camping for the past week, just wanted to post this and say how much it’s improved the cargo management for the Jeep.
Not to say it was bad before, but this product or similar will definitely improve how you can haul stuff around, providing it’s not too tall.
Still got a few more days to go - hope this helped someone!
Just got a new pack and chair, going to be testing it out with the doggo on an 8-day backpacking trip in the Smokies over the 4th holiday. The full pack itself weighs around 25lbs without food and water, and just over 34lbs with.
Looking to do an overnight backpacking trip with my dog over the 4th of July weekend. Curious on where the best places to source water is? Typically go with a 3L bladder and a 48oz Nalgene.
Finally replaced my old military surplus pack with a proper pack. Got a Nemo Persist 45L from their pro site for a decent price, excited to break it in over the July 4th weekend.
Photos of my power station install in case anyone else is looking to do something similar. It powers a hotspot and Starlink when I'm camping, and can charge my laptop and cell phone if I need to as well.
I ran the cables from the battery and through the hole where the clutch cable goes on the manual Jeeps. From there, I routed it through the floor trim, under the back seat, and to the trunk. It works well and is easily accessible.
Got away for a few days to try out this hammock before I go backpacking for a week next month. So far, so good. Excited to see how it holds up in weather as well.
Have a 2024 JLU that I use for camping and the occasional disaster response.
Connectivity is important when I’m doing the latter, so I have a FirstNet HPUE hotspot and a Starlink Mini set up to provide internet. Both are powered off of an Anker C2000 that is hooked up to an alternator charger. Just changed where the hotspot is, so forgive the lack of loom and organization.
When camping, I’ll use one or the other to knock out some homework, and watch the occasional movie. It works well so far, and the Anker has juice for days.

I'm looking at replacing my old HT1250 that I've been using for GMRS, and am looking at the MOTOTRBO line. I am curious if upgrading from the XPR6550 to the R7, or the XPR7550e will give me any tangible benefit. Or is the juice not with the squeeze, and just get the XPR6550?
