Won My First Game! Science victory With Rome!

After perpetually restarting over and over again to try and get a better start I finally won my first game on Prince difficulty going for science. It was pretty cool, I was going for a Dom win initially but switched gears after I realized that would involve me shipping my entire army over to the other continent and I didn't feel like doing all that lol.

I feel a little stagnant now that I've seen the victory screen, Rome is the only civ I know so science/domination are really the only two win cons I've gone for, what are you suggestions for what I should try next. New maps? Different Civs? Higher difficulty?

New Player Struggling With Long Term Goals

I feel like I keep getting to like turn 150 or so and restart because I don’t really know what to do and I feel like I have more of a grasp on the early game with tile yields and such.

I’m playing a lot of Rome so I should play aggressive but feel like I get penalized for starting wars and half the time the AI cities locations sucks so it doesn’t even feel worth it. I want to build up science but if my campus is less than +3 I feel like I’m doing something wrong - tbh that goes for districts in general I feel like I refuse to place them because I’m not getting maximum benefit and then screw myself in the long run.

This is my first civ game ever so any advice is welcome. Thanks!

How much do you actually invest in science/culture/faith when you’re NOT going for that victory type?

Newer player here - barely made it out of the classical era so far. Was wondering how much I need to invest in religions if I’m not going for a faith build. I keep seeing the options to build holy sites and stuff like that but haven’t been because I’m focusing on other stuff.

I’m playing Rome so I’ve been going for more of a domination win.

One Kingdom/City Builder to Recommend a Newbie - What's Your Pick?

To be clear - I'm not necessarily looking for a beginner friendly game, just looking for the best of the best. I got $70 and an itch to finally get into this genre. The two I'm looking at right now are Planet Zoo and Civ 6, although Planet Zoo looks way different than what I've played so far and might just be a different thing altogether. I tried Age of Empires 2 and loved it, but I'm looking for something more long-term. I want to build a kingdom from the ground up and watch it grow, rather than play through mission chapters. What I loved in AoE2 was building up defenses, growing an army, and delegating tasks to villagers - looking for a game that leans into that as an ongoing thing rather than playing missions that drop you in different scenarios. What are your top picks?

[VOD REQUEST] [GM3] I Need Some Help Seeing What Went Wrong in This Game

User: ElTrAiN03 queuing with HENRYLOGAN07 and Fin4dawin

Platform: Console

Game Code: 106381111732

This was one of those games where it genuinely felt like there was nothing my team could do. It would be really cool if one of you guys could watch the game and just give me a general idea of what my team could have done better. Any notes or advice you guys have would be much appreciated, thanks.

Dive Mains Think They're the Main Characters

I swear to god these sub-40 IQ Neanderthals' will be the first ones to tell you that you suck because your character is easy and theirs is 'hard.'

Dive isn't hard. It's genuinely as easy as heal botting - if not easier. Wait for your team to walk up, soft engage, bait cooldowns, hard engage, repeat. Dive mains will make it seem like it's the hardest thing in the world and that the characters they play should be broken because they're "harder to play." PUH-lease.

You guys sit in a corner until nobody is paying attention and get a pick off a support who wasn't looking at you. That is deadass the core gameplay loop of a dive hero, and they have the audacity to act like it takes more than 2 braincells.

What dive mains really mean when they say "dive is hard" is "playing into your counters is hard." BP mains will act like they're the most counterable hero in the game due to the fact that the Thing simply exists. They'll play into their counters and lose and talk shit on the balancing or they'll win and act like they just had to crawl the Normandy Beach on D-day to get the W, when in reality, you're just playing into your counters so you're having a hard time getting value. If I play Iron Man against a Hela/Punisher I'm going to get destroyed, the same way if you play BP into Thing/Peni you're going to get smoked.

Rant over. And before ya'll hit the comments asking for rank and how I don't play dive I'm a flex player and my peak is C2, about to hit C1 this season. Argue with a wall.

Dredge: DLC Won't Download

I've been playing Dredge for the first time without knowing much about the game at all, I clicked on the DLC tab and saw there was a complete edition in the Microsoft store.

I bought it and when I try to download it, it keeps giving me an error and tells me to retry. Anybody else run into this issue or know how to fix it?

What's your best advice for someone trying to climb out of GM?

To the players who made it out of the absolute fucking trenches that is GM elo, what finally clicked for you? What are some of the biggest differences you see in Celestial?

Widow Mains are Insufferable

"Wahh my character was reworked wahhh. She sucks now she's f tier wahhh."

*A week later*

"Uh guys she's actually pretty good"

"Uh guys they're playing her in pro play"

"Wait guys maybe the rework was actually good"

Yeah? Do you think maybe shutting the fuck up until the rework is released might be a good idea? Like I get speculating off of trailers or live events based on what we're shown, we're all excited for the new updates, but it's been 9 seasons and the majority of the community still doesn't understand that we won't know what works/what doesn't until people can PLAY IT.

I think it especially irked me with Widow mains because if you've scrolled their sub in the past week or so it's just complaining and shitting on anyone enjoying the character. And they keep moving the goal post it's infuriating. Like now that it's out that Widow is actually viable in the video game, it was 'never about her being bad, her gameplay is just boring.' Yea okay, buddy. Tell that to the 80 million "SHE'S F TIER NOW" doom-posts flooding the sub since the announcement.

All 4 of them need to collectively just stfu, especially when it comes to balancing. If ya'll had it your way there'd be a one-tap headshot sniper in the game and it would genuinely be the most cancerous season of all time.

Why Did Mohiam Ask the Baron to Spare Paul and Jessica in Pt. 1?

In Pt. 2 it's revealed that >!she counseled the Emperor to wipe out House Atreides because Paul is essentially too dangerous,!< so why would she ask the Baron to spare Paul and Jessica because they are 'under the BG's protection?' Am I missing something or was this just an oversight?

Wedding in Treviso end of April 2027, then maybe a week in Rome? First time to Italy and need some advice!

My (23M) girlfriend's (23F) friends are having their wedding at the end of April next year in Treviso, we've never been to Italy and wanted to make the most of it so we were wanting to stay for an extra week (May 1st - 7th) but are trying to decide what to do/where to stay.

At first we wanted to make the most out of being so close to Venice, but then thought we might want to stay in Rome and spend some time down there and in Naples since they don't look very far apart.

Again, I know next to nothing about traveling in general, it is not very often I leave my hometown - let alone the country - so I'm sorry if I'm coming off as extremely naive here. Any advice would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Kojima Built the Exact Community the Game is About

I missed out when the game initially released in 2019, unfortunately I bought into the "it's a walking simulator" propaganda and had zero interest in trying it. Jump forward 7 years, it's 2026, and I am in a single player drought after KCD2. That game was phenomenal and any other single player I was playing at the time didn't even come close.

Tried Ghost of Yotei, meh. Nothing against it, just didn't hook me.

With all the GTA6 hype I thought I'd replay RDR2, didn't stick.

Another hardcore run in Subnautica? Gave up halfway.

At this point I'm just looking for something different. I was a little burnt out on the standard RPG formula and needed something fresh.

Lo and behold, this absolute masterpiece of a game.

I played a little of MGS5 when it came out when I was really little, I don't remember much and I don't think I got far past the tutorial - so this game essentially acts as my introduction to Kojima. I'll never doubt him again. I haven't even beaten it yet and I can say with full confidence this is one of my favorite games of all time. The visuals, the sound design, the themes, the story, the characters, the way Kojima breaks the fourth wall while still firmly keeping you grounded in the world, it's just pure genius, man. I love traversing the world, delivering my little packages, treating the entire map as one big puzzle and finding new and better ways to get from point A to point B, it's genuinely one of the best gameplay loops I've ever experienced.

But somehow there was an even better surprise waiting for me after trying the game - you guys!

I've made several posts in this sub asking for help, a discussion post to talk about something I've been thinking about, some photos I've taken, and you guys are just some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of speaking to on the internet. There is a noticeable difference between this community and others - especially in the gaming world - and I just think that's a really beautiful thing. Especially knowing the entire theme of the game is to connect people and help each other, I just love love love this game and the people who feel as passionate about it as I do.

Hope you're having a good one, fellow Porters, keep on keepin' on.

[DS1] 5 Starring All Locations

So I think I might have messed up:

In the Eastern Region I five-starred each prepper as I connected them and I feel like that was easier because my orders were all kind of right next to each other or at least in somewhat of a linear path which helped with inventory management and taking on multiple orders at once.

Once I got to the Central Region I was really invested in the story and really wanted the zip-lines so I started focusing more on the main orders and now I have the Mountain Area, the Southern Lake Knot City Area, the central part of the map near the Elder and the Distro Center, all going in different directions. Not only is it making it harder to take on a bunch of orders to different places at once, inventory management is almost impossible since I have built a bunch of ziplines but can't take all my cargo with me - just the stuff I need to make the current delivery I'm about to do.

For example when I'm making a delivery to the Elder I'd drive my truck with all my cargo to my zipline near the Distro Center, put all the cargo I'm delivering to the Elder on my back, zipline up there and make the delivery, zipline back to the truck, and keep on keepin' on.

The issue I'm running into now is the cargo in my truck is despawning when I zipline over to my destination. What are your suggestions?

edit: postboxes at the start of my ziplines! My god I am dumb! Thank you guys

[DS1] How Many Of You Played With Online Features Off? What Was Your Experience?

Hello Fellow Porters!

I am on my first playthrough of DS1 and am loving the hell out of it, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the visuals, the soundtrack, all of it is phenomenal.

I love building structures and sort of turning the map into your own little playground you can traverse any way you want, but with the way the online features work I feel like I very rarely have to bring things like ladders, anchors, materials if I need to build a bridge, etc. because 9/10 there will already be something there.

I've started imagining what it would be like to have to rely on structures only you have built and it sounds like a lot of fun, but wanted to know how it affected things like sharing cargo or building roads.

If it matters at all I am early in chapter 3, just got to the central region and am working on rebuilding some roads.

edit: after speaking to a lot of you I've decided I'll be shutting off the online features. While it does give a sense of reconnection and goes hand in hand with the theme of the game, I feel from a gameplay perspective they aren't much more than an inconvenience, personally. Either literally (why is this bridge here??) or figuratively (damn I shouldn't have even brought my ladders/PCC the path has been paved for me already.)

Thank you guys for your input, and if anybody is asking themselves the same question - give it a shot! You can always turn 'em back on :)

Keep on keepin' on

YouTube Recommendations?

Hello fellow Porters! I'm late to the game but I'm currently on my first playthrough of DS1 and absolutely loving it, I wanted to know what are your guys' favorite YouTube content for this game? I'm looking for the DS equivalent to the Senile Squibbles collection for Skyrim. It doesn't have to be in any way similar to that sort of content I just mean I always watch those when replaying Skyrim cause they're fun and it's just kinda what you do lol. It can be playthroughs, skits, theories, reviews, whatever. What do you guys suggest?

Best Way to Play The Games?

This might be sort of a dumb question but how would you recommend playing the games for somebody who has never played Resident Evil, I'm currently playing on GeForceNow so my options are limited, the games available are:

RE2 (Remake)

RE3 (Remake)

RE4 (Remake)

RE7

RE Village

RE Requiem

So right off the bat playing from start to finish isn't really an option considering there are some missed titles, so with my options here how would you go about it? Start at 2 and on? Start with the first person games? They're on sale now so I figured now was a good time to jump in.
