What to do about this god awful haircut?

I asked for face framing layers starting at my chin and instead got a chin length fringe with barely any blending in with the rest of my hair. Looks ok from the side but from the front I look like I have a bob and I hate it. The section is literally all one length. How do I fix this without losing any length to my long hair?

Got the worst haircut of my life- help!!!

I asked for face framing layers starting at my chin. I thought she’d diagonal cut it, but she took a whole section and cut it!!!! I feel like it looks awful, what do I do and how do I style it? My hair is super slippery so it doesn’t really hold much

I love when this happens

I bought a pair of shoes. They were listed as the wrong size so when I received them I had to file for a refund through Depop. The seller ghosted me, so I got a full refund and a free pair of $150 shoes.

I resell said shoes. I make $150 dollars. I re-buy another pair in my size for $150. So basically, I got free shoes.

Looking for in-universe, whump Jinx-centric fics

Pleaseeeee in-universe. I despise modern AUs. I’m totally fine with romance, esp timebomb, but I’d prefer nothing weird with Silco, lux, or Caitlyn.

Looking specifically for whump or hurt/comfort, bonus pts if it focuses on jinx and vi. Not too keen on isha. Thanks!!

What haircut should I get? Fine hair!

I’ve had the same haircut for years and honestly I need a change.

I have fine, long stick straight hair. It’s to the top of my hipbone past my naval. It’s very healthy and virgin so not even curls hold, so heat styling is out of the question, making me hesitant to get any kind of layers in the back. I once had layers and oh my god it looked so thin and choppy, it took years to fix.

I’ve had a blunt cut perimeter with light face framing layers for about 4 years now. It looks nice but I need something with more oomph because I feel like my hair is starting to look… religious (if you know what I mean, lol)

Any suggestions? Help! I’d like to keep my length. No shorter than waist level. Thanks!

I am so inspired and ready to be a doctor

!!Much needed positivity post!!

I spent the last week shadowing an OBGYN hospitalist and I genuinely feel like my whole outlook on medicine has changed. I’ve shadowed before and I’ve never felt like this. I am SO excited to become a doctor.

It was incredible to see so many babies being born. I saw an emergency C section and an emergency hysterectomy and these experiences showed me first hand how amazing medical advancements are— without them both of these mothers and the babies would have died.

The doctor I shadowed was truly an incredible woman— a black woman who worked in medical device sales for a decade before deciding her life needed more purpose. She told me her life became so much more meaningful once she became a doctor, and she felt as if she was finally living up to her potential. She was so passionate in how she spoke to her patients and went out of her way to make sure I saw EVERYTHING. She moved nurses and techs out of the way to give me a front row seat in the OR. She explained everything she could to me when I had questions. You could tell she really wanted me to succeed and become a doctor. That she wanted to inspire me and share in her passion for OB.

This is in stark contrast to other doctors I have shadowed. I unfortunately had a bad experience with an egotistical Dr last month. And previously, I had a family medicine doctor tell me not to pursue medicine. That it was a soul-sucking career that requires pure sacrifice. This may be true, but this recent experience really just showed me how important passion is in medicine. I am just SO INSPIRED.

Truly an awe inspiring experience. I’m so excited to become a doctor. I just need to take the MCAT this spring, and I’ll be applying next summer! I’m so ready!

The classism is insanity

I’m a rising senior in college. I just had a premed advisor tell me that my 2500+ clinical hours are “extreme” and hours over 500 have “diminishing returns”

Like ok 💀 let me just not work. I’ll quit my job so I stop accumulating hours! I’m so afraid of adcoms judging me for working too much!

Just complete BS too because I’m not really lacking anything else in my application. I have a pub, 500 research hrs, 100 volunteer hours(yes, low, but I still squeezed the bare minimum in), 400 leadership hrs… like what?!!! How could working too much make me look bad if the other parts of my app aren’t “sacrificed”

Why the OBGYN hate?

Genuinely curious as to why it seems med students and premeds alike, in addition to actual doctors, seem to hate on the OBGYN specialty?

I was shadowing an OBGYN this week and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Definitely the most interesting specialty to me currently. I got to observe a c section and cried at how amazing it was. Also saw an emergency hysterectomy. Very tragic, but so cool!!

While observing however, I chatted with a group of med students on rotation at the hospital and they all were whining to me about how much they hated it!!!

In addition, I always see hate online too. Why is this? The OBGYNs I were observing were amazing women and all of the nurses were amazing also. Didi just luck out with a good hospital?

Made the mistake of chugging coffee prior to shadowing 😜😜💕💕

Real story. Typing this on the toilet as I pray to god I make it out of here.

I had to be at the hospital by 745am. 1 hr drive. Ok. I need some coffee to survive because I’m running on barely any sleep. I make it to the hospital 10 minutes before I’m supposed to meet the doctor. But… I have to poop. SO BAD. So I park my car as fast as possible and SPRINT thru the visitor entrance. Past the front desk (the receptionist gave me a crazy look) found the nearest restroom and I’ve been sitting here since. I’m supposed to meet the doctor right now. It’s 745am. But I can’t move from the toilet. Helppppppo

How to approach "scattered" extracurriculars in applications?

I have a few experiences that I did in undergrad that are kind of scattered and random and I'm not sure if this will reflect badly on me when I apply.

  • I was an anatomy and physiology SI leader (basically a group tutor who led review sessions) my Junior fall. Probably 150 hrs. I had to quit because it was a crushing amount of work and started to impact my grades, but I really enjoyed it.
  • I also was a gen bio TA for one semester sophomore year. Upcoming in my senior spring, I will be an anatomy lab TA. Probably 100 hours combined, 50 hrs each from these experiences.
  • I have 500 hrs of research doing it for a semester with my professor and then cintinued to do an internship with him over the summer between my sophomore and junior years. I got a pub out of it which was awesome, but I honestly really hated the research and ended up quitting becausxe I couldn;t balance my professors extremely high expectations with everything else going on in my life. On top of this, I typically work 20 hrs a week during a semester to just afford school so it wasn't really conducive to continue.

Will this reflect badly on my application? I have other long-term commitments on my application so it's not as if all of my experiences are scattered, just these. For example, I have 2300 hours as a nursing home CNA, and will have over 200 hours from being a bio and organic chemistry tutor throughout my junior and senior years.

Thanks!

My 90 year old resident jams out to muse

I work at a nursing home. I was doing my rounds, and all of a sudden I hear Hush blasting from down the hallway. I go to investigate because what 80 year old is going to be listening to Muse, and I find my 90 year old resident watching women’s WWE, which was using Hush as a theme song.

He said he thought the song was great. Absolutely cracked me up. I guess maybe WWW using Hush as a theme song would explain why Hush is the top song from TWS on Spotify currently.

Full 2 assist hall feels like psychological torture

Overdramatic title but Jesus Christ I can’t even handle it anymore

I always end up being put on this hall where every resident except 2 people (yes, 2) are A2 assist. So they’re a mechanical lift and then A2 for changes too (except a few) My facility is super strict so we absolutely have to follow the A2 rule.

This hall feels like torture when you’re working with someone who’s slow. I wish I could just do it myself because I can get someone lifted into bed and changed in under 5 minutes if I have help with a transfer immediately, but some people I work with take upwards of 10 minutes just to change a wet brief! Like what is going on?

I also have a very annoying coworker who always is conversing with the residents and over explaining herself and what she’s doing. Like lady, I totally get it, but these people get their briefs changed 10 times a day you don’t need to explain that you’re going to roll them or wipe them in a certain place you just say “can I change your brief” and then DO IT.

I need a break from this job it makes me so mad and I’m turning into a bitter angry person at work because I’m perpetually pissed off at how slow everyone works.

How do I get this guy to take a hint? I feel like a fish out of water!!

Hi everyone. Here's some background: I am a 21 YO college girl who is very head over heels for my 19-year-old M coworker. We go to the same college but met this summer at work when I trained him. I trained him for weeks, and we really get along great. I've never felt like this around a guy before. We're always laughing, talking, sharing personal stories and opinions of things. He is always calling us the work "dream team," and we share fist bumps and other cute things at work. We even take our breaks together and just sit and talk the whole time, it's really great. He is ridiculously handsome and has a great personality, and you can probably tell from reading this that I have developed a pretty major crush on him. And I've never been in a relationship before, so I have no idea what to do!

My main question is this: how do I continue this relationship outside of work? I want him to take the hint to see that I like him. I don't want to have to ask him out, but I might have to, because I can't really tell if he is interested in me or not. And now he's going out of town for a few weeks, so I don't get to see him in person for 2 weeks.

I asked him (very ballsy for me) for his Snapchat, and he smiled and said sure and gave it to me. It was sweet. This was two days ago. Since then, I've initiated 2 conversations about work. They both were pretty brief, but he is receptive to the conversation and actually asks questions; it's not the normal "that sucks" or "that's cool"... you know what I mean.

But in between these conversations, it's kind of turned into normal Snapchat behavior. We just send pics back and forth a few times a day. He usually responds pretty quickly if I do- it seems he's mirroring my response times. If I respond quickly, he does. If I wait a few hours, he does.

So here's my question: WHAT DO I DO? How do I get him to take the hint? I've NEVER had something like this happen with a guy I actually like. I have his Snapchat; now what? I don't want it to turn into the perpetual death spiral of just snapping back and forth and nothing ever happening. But since I've initiated the last 2 conversations, I want to wait for him to text me something.

Also, for some more context: when he sends me pictures, its always of his face, which I know is a good sign. it's nothing like the uninterested half-face pictures, or a random pic of wherever they are. I know that using Snapchat is kind of immature, but I know he uses it a lot so I thought asking for his snap might be more natural for him than asking for his number; and now I'm stuck in this predicament and kind of just wish I had asked for his number.

Any advice, guys? I'm a total virgin; I've never had a talking stage with any man, so I'm really unsure what to do. Should I just start random conversations? How do I flirt with him? How do I get him to take a hint? Thanks!

I was framed

One of my coworkers reported morning shift for leaving BM on someone last night. I had nothing to do with any of it.

I came in today for my PM shift and the whole morning shift was being extremely hostile and raising their voice at me, saying that “someone” reported them and blah blah blah and making up lies to get them in trouble. Turns out I find out the all think that it’s ME, and one of the morning ladies has been telling everyone to watch out for me because I’m a “lying snitch who just wants to get people in trouble”

I told them that it wasn’t me, but I have a feeling they don’t believe me. I’m kind of at a loss because now I have a group of people who supposedly hate me. I’ve been wanting to pick up AMs but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t because I don’t want to be involved in any drama.

Have no idea why or how they think that it’s me… it’s just great that I’m the new target! One of these ladies is crazy and apparently I’ve gotta “watch me back” now because she’s going to try to “report me back”… like ok… I didn’t even report you!!!

I don’t have the patience anymore (vent)

I work in a facility that’s extremely busy and has a super heavy workload. I am so burnt out and I’ve only been here for 5 months, CNA of 3 years total.

My assignment is a 1:8.5 ratio, however, most of the are hoyers and full dependence. Basically everyone but a staggering 4 people are 2 assist on a hall of 17. Do you know how fucking insane this drives me especially when you’re working with a slow person. And no, I’m not fucking hoyering or helping an A2 by myself.

Some residents are nice, but the rest of the residents are demanding assholes that yell at you if you misunderstand them or don’t do what they want immediately

I literally can’t do it anymore, I have no fucking patience for these people. My residents are annoying as hell, asking for small things like “you need to move this towel to the right” and “help me fold this stack of 20 kleenex” and “I want to go outside” for the 3RD TIME DURING MY SHIFT AND ITS A HOYER WHO DEMANDS TO BE PUT BACK IN BED BETWEEN EVERY TIME THEY GO OUTSIDE

I’m nice to the residents who are pleasant, but the ones who are rude, demanding, and irrational drive me up the wall and I find myself being short with them. Not rude- I would never treat someone badly. But I still feel bad being short. But can I deal with this bullshit rn when I’m working with a slow ass motherfucker and I have 10 call lights and 6 people to put to bed? ALL 2 ASSIST? EVERYONE ON MY HALL IS 2 ASSIST. NO I FUCKING CANNOT ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET RIGHT NOW OLD LADY

FUCK ME

Are people actually changing pts every 2 hrs?

I’m m talking about in the nursing home. I just can’t imagine how this would be possible.

My facility doesn’t do rounds- on 2nd shift we change pts once when they get up for dinner and once when we lay them down for bed.

We hardly even squeeze our breaks in and we’re running around like chickens with our heads cut off. My hall I work is 17 pts to 2 aides which isn’t the worst ratio but we have 12 full dependent hoyers. 12. Including a hoyer pt who insists on getting up and being laid down 3 times a shift.

How are people doing rounds????? Absolutely insane. We don’t even have a toileting schedule. I’ve worked places where we’ve had one but this new place I’m at just trashed theirs because no one was ever making the schedule…

I’m afraid that this may be inauthentic/that I’m getting scammed

This girl is a new seller and has sold a few vintage coach bags. No reviews yet. I sent an offer and she said can you do 170 and I said I’d think about it, then she sent this. The gift card feels so strange… idk, what do yall think?
