My mother has shown up for a visit a week and a half early

She was supposed to be in my brother's town (2hr away from me) on the 14th for his wedding. She messaged me at 4am that she is in town for a surprise visit today. I have a statistics assignment due on sunday and a psych test on tuesday. My house is full of wedding decor. I can't pack it up yet because my car needs to go to the shop next week. My son had the flu all week. I was not prepared for her to be anywhere near my house. But my brother and nephew are with her and I'd like to see them. I could have asked for help to prepare, had I known. I'm too upset to even focus on studying now. Why are they like this

Which Style Boutonnière Looks Best?

Semi-formal/cozy autumn wedding, fairly simple and sweet ruffled bridal dress with long sleeves and high neck, no train or veil. (Please ignore the cat fur and hot glue threads, these are prototypes and the pets are helping 😂)

Looking for help finding an empire waist dress pattern!

Midi dress, v neck but not low-cut, with interesting 3/4 to long sleeves, maybe flutter or bell. Does anyone know of anything that fits? I can do some altering if I can find something close enough. Everything I am seeing is very low-cut or not empire waist!

Looking for Advice about Social Norms

My child is starting high school at a private non-profit (government tuition paid) school for "bright" ADHD and ASD kids who struggle in public school. The classes are small, 6-10 kids each. His teachers have started sending out introduction emails, basically saying what class they teach, how long they have been teaching, what they will be doing this year, and how to reach them.

Personally, I would not want to receive a bunch of emails from parents, all essentially replying, "Thanks, great, have a nice day." But I'm not a teacher, and I'm socially awkward!

Is it polite or expected to respond back to these emails, even if it's just a few lines of acknowledgment?

Has anyone been able to work and go to university while having CFS?

I'd like to take online courses and do a bachelor of science, then master in psychology. However, I have no income and tend to burn out after 6 months at a job.

I have an opportunity to work at a bookstore, which is a low exertion job, but it's a 45 minute drive away (I live in the country). I just got diagnosed CFS by a specialist clinic and will be working with their physio. Anyone have any experience or tips?

(10k) Looking for Ideas on How to Decorate These Chairs!

Plastic molded stacking chairs. Autumn theme, indoor reception. Help, I can't find any inspiration photos of this type of chair online! We had originally considered a simple bunting or a sash tied with a small sprig of flowers on the backs.

My spouse got scratched by a bat

EDIT: I finally got a hold of the public health nurse on call, and she said you absolutely need the protocol if a bat lands on you, and he will be getting the first vaccine tomorrow morning!

It landed on him, and without thinking, he grabbed it to throw it off, and it clung onto his hand, breaking the skin.

He went to emergency, the doctor gave him a tetanus shot, a prescription for antibiotics, and said no further action is necessary unless he starts having symptoms. The nurse said to call public health if they don't call him, on monday.

The pharmacist said they could order rabies vaccines, but they are expensive, and we'd have to pay for them.

Does anyone have experience with this situation? Because this doesn't seem right to me.

Old Chapel Repair

What kind of wood do you think the siding is? The group that maintains the chapel is trying to decide whether it's better to re-paint or switch to stain. It's somewhat close to the ocean, and the paint only lasts 2-3 years before it starts chipping off. The more reddish spots are where I just peeled off the paint. It comes off really easily, and big chunks fly off when it gets very windy.

My husband, who has never baked anything in his life, just told me that the ingredient measurements don't matter.

I was baking a cake, as I always do, for every birthday and every special event. He said he's seen baking shows, and they just throw in "a dash of this and a pinch of that," so he insisted that it doesn't matter if I accidentally used more flour than usual.

My toddler cried when I wouldn't give him raw bacon

When I tried to explain why we couldn't eat raw bacon, he kept screaming, "But I want it ROTTEN!"

ETA: This is American style uncured bacon. 100% needs to be cooked to be safely consumed.

Does anyone have a short haircut that kind of looks like an updo?

Kind of short all around, but with longer pieces in the front and on top?

Is it easy to style? How hard was it to find someone to do the cut?

Pictures (from online or of your cut) are appreciated.

Routine: 3B, I wash 1 - 3 times a week with either shampoo or conditioner, usually Young Living mint. Leave in more conditioner, and let it air dry. Then tousle at roots. Pineapple for sleep, satin pillowcase. Refresh when it's on the shorter side and I can't pinapple.

(10k) Has anyone found a good potluck registry website?

I have been looking for a simple website so people can list what they are bringing, and see what other people are already bringing. I've been through signing up for like 6 websites, only to find out that I have to list what I want other people to bring, on every one! I've considered a google doc, but I don't want people to have to sign up if they don't have a gmail, or learn how to use it first. I think it might be confusing for less computer-literate people.

Unexpected Bottle Dig

My partner was working construction on a new apartment building (East Coast Canada by Bay of Fundy). He noticed people were throwing a bunch of bottles they kept digging up into a box, and they were breaking as they were thrown. These were the ones he was able to rescue. The only thing I've found about them is that several seem to be pharmacy bottles.
