Onions smell weird when cooking in my crock pot. What is wrong here?

Any time a slow cooker recipe calls for onions, they come out smelling horrible, almost nausea-inducing for me. I've found that if I put them on the bottom where liquid can cover them, there's no "off" smell.

If I cook onions on the stove, no issues whatsoever.

I don't know if this is a weird olfactory issue for me, or if anyone else experiences weird results when cooking something specific. Has anyone else had this happen?

Thank you in advance!

How to clean behind gross oven before I get a new one?

Hi everyone! I unfortunately had a mouse problem this past winter, and they made a home behind my gas oven. I've gotten rid of the mice, but refuse to use this oven anymore because it stinks every time I turn it on. I've cleaned the inside and the sides I can get to, but it's disgusting.

It's one of those cheap Hotpoint things that was in the house when I moved in so no problems ripping it out.

I'm worried about causing a gas leak if I pull it away from the wall to clean, but if I wait until delivery people bring me a new oven, I won't have enough time to REALLY CLEAN.

Can someone give me some tips or a know of a good video about safely moving my gas oven to clean?

Thank you in advance!

Zephyr squash (or any squash really) recipes?

I accidentally planted zephyr squash when I thought I was planting lemon cucumbers in my garden. I'm not a huge squash fan, but as I discovered last night, these are actually quite tasty (almost a teensy bit sweet) right off the vine when picked around 4".

I've made stuffed zucchini boats before so looking for recipes or ideas outside of that particular option. Has anyone grown and used these in recipes? Can I still make pickles, or does squash not work well for that?

Thanks in advance!

If you were a Beluga whale going to a very important business meeting, which would be the better aquatic animal to wear as a tie? An octopus or a squid? Or is there a better option?

Ignore any differences in living environment like deep water vs. shallow water and temperature needed to survive. In this hypothetical situation, pretend all of these animals could survive in the same place.

My theory is that the squid physically looks like a tie, but the octopus could be useful as a translator/assistant because they are very smart.

Is there a way to add what kind of dog I have in my account?

I need to take my elderly pitbull to the vet for a check-up, and my car was recently totaled, so I'll need to take an Uber (I will be using Uber Pet, which is in my area). I know not everyone likes dogs, and people can be VERY hesitant to get near a pittie so I want a potential driver to know what kind of dog I will have with me the day of the trip.

Is there a way to add details about my dog so potential drivers can opt in or out to drive us?

Looking for fun people to do stuff with? SoFA Trivia 5/13 @ 7pm

I posted a bit ago about being a woman in my 40's looking for people to hang out with. Lots of people seemed interested, so I will be at SoFA Market's Trivia night on 5/13. It starts at 7 pm, ends at 8 pm. (387 S 1st St San Jose CA 95113)

This will be good if you want to get out for a bit, but have other responsibilities, like children or you're just a shut-in like me who can only handle human contact for brief periods of time.

If you want to hang out AFTER trivia is done, we can do that too.

How to find me: I'll put this little skeleton on whatever table I'm at, but I also look like this ^(in ^MaraLago ^makeup)

Additional information because apparently it needs to be said

I am not looking for a booty call, snuggle partner, date, boyfriend or anything romantic/sexual. I am a fat, middle aged woman. I can not stop you from lusting over my hideous flubby body, but please stop sending me dm's asking if I'm single and what I look like.

Hi everyone! I'm Jen, and I'm the 44/f that posted a few months ago about wanting to find people to do stuff with near light rail or CalTrain.

Previous post:

I'm done with school (finally!) and I was hoping people might want to still hang out. Things I enjoy that maybe you enjoy too?

  • I like trivia, food, mini golf, I can bowl, play billiards (although not well), gardening, beer, board games (wouldn't mind learning D&D!)

  • I'm good in big groups, tell funny stories (usually) and it would be great to find people to shoot the breeze with at some random activity for a few hours during the week.

  • Avid gardener and usually grow too many veggies, so you might make a friend who also makes jam and has tomatoes.

I'm a big nerd and hopefully so are you. Lets be friends. :)
