I think the Spain immigrant-wave is a psyop orchestrated the far-right in companionship with Marocco.

As I see it there's two alternatives, either this happened spontaneously, despite there being no major war in that region, or someone had a lot to gain for it to happen this way.

How come we've heard nothing about 40 000(!!) people gathering to bumrush one specific area all at the same time. Marocco isn't a failed state, infact it is one of the far most stable ones in the region, why would they allow all these people to gather?

It reminds me of how Erdogan constantly threatened to just open all the refugee-camps. In 2015 during the refugee-crisis Europe took in 1+ million, but Turkey had over 2(!) million refugees. Erdogan constantly used this as a cudgel to gain leverage.

To me, this seems like something of the same sort.

So, it got me thinking, who would gain from showing a metaphorical, and literal, wave of refugees swarming into Europe? The far-right. I mean even leftists are going "Yeah fuck this" and I don't blame them, part of me also feels that way.

But if the refugee-crisis, when the entire middle-east was on fire, arab spring, ISIS, two countries collapsing, etc. didn't have us see anything even remotely close to this (closest I can think of is Lesbos).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_European_migrant_crisis I mean look, back then, as Libya itself was crashing into shit, there were only 10 000 crossing into Spain. Why the fuck would there suddenly be 40 000+ people crossing now? They're not black either so can't explain it with them coming from south-Saharan wars.

I might be wrong, it might just have been a refugee-camp of Libyans who got fed up and all tried a leap of faith... But I'm still skeptical until I hear more information. Meanwhile, literally every European country is having this as headline news.

Request: Mute idle-animations

Look Arcane is awesome and she's adoreable with her cat

But when doing stuff ingame menus, or working on something on the off-screen from the game, it is grating hearing the same mewing over and over and over.

And don't any of you catlovers pretend your cat can't annoy the fuck out of you by mewing endlessly

EDIT: To clarify I meant an option to mute

Playing HoMaM7, at first I thought it was so janky because it was supposed to be a mobile game they just eventually ported to PC, but then I saw it was released in 2015. What happened?

Look, I'm not here to shit on the dev's. I've never been a rabid fan but I've played every HoMaM. Grew up with hotseating 2 and 3. At 5 I felt the magic started getting lost so I stopt following it.

Barely remember 6 and I didn't even know 7 existed until a week ago... I'm beginning to understand why.

What happened? Why is it so... Subpar? Like, no hate, but it feels like a beta if even that. Also holy shit the bugs, I've community-patched it and it still keeps fucking up the audio and graphics, ingame market and AI, etc.

How is the graphics, immersion and atmosphere (as well as visual clarity, I constantly miss resources even when I'm spamming ALT to highlight them) all worse than even 5? I recall at least the towns were amazing in 5 and 6, here they're a static picture and they look more flat than 3.

The skilltree is some of the worst balanced malarky I've seen. You have gamebreaking shit like magic, the exponential growth of the "Wisdom" skill is possible the most overall gamebreaking thing in any HOM. For those who don't know, it gives 4+ spellpower, and 4+ for every other school of magic that also picks it... Which mean's 12 total if you pick a second, and 24(!) if you pick all three. Whereas other skills give a whooping 2+ of defence or offence, sometimes even 4. And this isn't some lategame HOM3 spellcasting, this is accessable at lvl12, second mission.

Pardon the rant, just had to vent my thoughts a bit. Not even upset, I had no real expectations and got it for free.

Honestly as time goes by HOM4 that I kind of disliked at the time has really grown on me because its stories were the best (tho a bit heavy on text) out of any HOM. I really hope they have some good writing in the new prequal.

There are moments where there's some beauty and you feel a tad of that HOM magic. But, honestly, they're like holes in a clouded sky where once it passes you just feel the cold even worse.

Factory-events on maps with non-final factory-spaces (base lvls not accessible due to future content) should give you a (chooseable) temporary "event factory-area" where you can import it to your base if you want later.

I know some people love the factory/factoria stuff. I get it somewhat because I love it in games like say Dwarf-fortress where I feel there's a face and story to it. Endfield rarely does this sadly, but using the factory to beat back blobs was a great example of giving a "face" and agency to it.

I know there's a lot of people like me, but I'm entirely fine with the factoria being in the game. I build a little over the bare minimum and when the area is maxed I look up optimized blueprints.

Wuling did a great job in that it forced you to progressively build upon your factory, which made it more engaging and piecemeal for a person such as myself.

But the event was a clusterfuck in this. My bases, plural, were more fucked than the luggage-transport-belts of New York airport. Which was somewhat fun, ripping out entire chains just to create enough to get the medal and cry in pain when you realized you can't reach Trimmed.

The problem is AFTER the event. Xanarite lines all over the fucking place, was just so much chaos I've put it off until the entire area unlocks again. Hell, why even fix it, already maxed everything.

So, my suggestion:

When a factory-event happens, give the player the choice where they can build on BOTH their own current base, but also a temporary area that after the events de-activates all the machinery there but you can still copy-paste it with blueprint (or just drag it) to your main base.

This way the ultra-maxers can still integrate it to their mainbase, whilst people like me can set up all the temp-stuff in an orderly fashion where I won't be left confused as to why all the Gourd-producers had turned into something else and I wasn't even sure which had been gourd at all.

This way, both people who like the old system can enjoy that and people who aren't minmaxing the factory can do it this new way.

I know you're listening Hyphogryph you copied my last suggestion verbatim about making the cooking-event an actual chef-competition instead of a stall against a gray wall.

Is there any site that is like Etsy was 5 years ago before AI/bots?

https://preview.redd.it/rd0katumah8h1.png?width=1904&format=png&auto=webp&s=20a3a8e3a0b836697ebf0700582c0cbec4a081fe

I was looking through pages upon pages of pipes, literally at page 60 now, and I've noticed there's the same dead-internet-theory that gripped ebay 15 years ago and amazon 10 years ago.

Now, it's here, on Etsy.

The pipe on the left is handmade from 1 whole piece of expensive wood, I've looked up the shop's location and I didn't see them selling their products under any other account.

Same with the pipe on the far right, hand-carved (but might be using a machine-tool, still you can't 3D-carve that material because it is too brittle)

The pipe in the middle is just a lathed piece of wood, glued into a stairway-fence's topball, with the same cap as the bottom one.

Guess the prices? At 198€ is the far right. Bottom is 15€, far left is 145€.

And, the middle one, which is literally just a generic baseline apart from the painted blue, the runes, the norse-crow sticker worth 0.5€ and the bracelet-decals at the stem... 199€. Now, here's the kicker, the middle one has the most positive 5star reviews. (The far-right is a unique piece but they have standard models aswell that are of insane quality with lower rating)

Now I am in no way even a layman wood-worker, but I've done it 4 hours weekly for over 4 years, I could literally make the middle one within 1-2 hours if even that and the raw material is laughable. Talking less than 15€. Yes, there are still people who smoke cornpipes, hell I have when my stem broke, but you know what you are getting.

TLDR: There is now way the middle one can both outsell AND get more rated here. You would have to searched for "pipe", sorted for most expensive, scrolled past the even more insane pipes than my two examples, and after seeing all of them picking that one. "Maybe it has a great keyword?" Ofcourse it does, "Norse" etc. but there are literally *thousands* of "Norse"/"Viking"/"Odin" pipes.

So, ofcourse, like Ebay, and Amazon, and soon the entire internet, bots/AI are just creating more and more accounts to sell more and more of their shit, inflating the price of quality so it becomes diffuse so that smaller actors just get drowned out.

Don't get me started on the amount of fake AI shit in previews and thumbnails.

------------

So, I understand that Etsy might not be a big enough actor to change this trajectory... But, are there any alternatives? Is there some site where they vet shops and seller to make sure it isn't just the same mass-produced shit masquerading as something it is not? Don't get me wrong, I love cheap shit when it is honest. Never found the sunglasses I wanted here so I bought 5 different pairs from China for 50€.

But what I loved about Etsy was how it felt like it was genuinely someone making something unique and that I as a buyer could help them in their craft. I'll never forget a depressed girl who msg'd me after the sale to tell me how she was crying her eyes out just because I bought 120€ of stuff from her tiny shop.

It does warm my heart that there are still good minor actors, where I can look up their shop (like the one on the left) and they're genuinely not some "60 years of tradition"-overpriced shit or some big corp. But a relatively new business really selling insane craftsmanship for absurdly good prices. [No affiliation btw it just made me so happy that they weren't fake]

Thanks if you read this far, pardon the rant I haven't slept for 40 hours and I've been looking through pipe-stuff for 4 hours.

If yer just skipping down here, topic-head is the simple question I want answered.

Anyone who've tested a windproof after pipe-drilling it?

I like to walk the Fjälls here, basically mountains grounded down to giant hills. Being so smooth, trees don't even live ontop of them because the wind just kills them most of the time.

So I was wondering if a windproof would be a good idea, but I saw people testing it and I realized that the wind-shield would basically be scuffed from the drill. So, is all the "windproof" in just the windshield or does it have a larger payload-delivery etc?

Thanks!

No way to remote delete buildings? Zipline stuck on mountain-top.

Someone graciously did the jump-bug and put a zipline ontop of that steep mountain in the Marker-Zone area. Only I deleted theirs, put up mine, but had forgotten to bring the smaller conduit, so I stupidly teleported to get one... Forgetting I had no way to get back up (since I don't own the characters needed for the jump-bug).

Now, my own zipline will block that spot so that I'll never see another person's up there, whilst I myself can't reach it.

So, is there really no way to remote-delete buildings?

Also if any mod/dev ever reads this plz never remove the climb-/jump-bugs they're great and just about the only fun thing to do inbetween events.

Question: Why caving? (Why not climbing, etc.)

I want to start off by saying I do not blame nor damn anyone for their fulfillment. I got that "explorer"-gene myself wherein when movies or media ask "...Would YOU dare to be the lone astronaut sent out to---" and I just interrupt with "Yes fucking send me to unknown reaches I want to map them and see what has never been seen. I'll die alone and happy".

Add to that I know that there's genes involved where some people have less of the "fear" response and far more of the dopamine-response, which is why there's a lot of people who will do insane shit with seemingly no fear. Not to demean those who DO feel fear and overcome it. But just to give an example that yeah some people get the highs and I get that.

So, TLDR why caves? I mean I tried to give an example but it is banned text in this sub it's such a dead horse.

I've scuba-dove in "safe" caves, I get that beauty. Hmm now writing this I guess it's something like that, wanting to see something beautiful and thinking the risk is minimal?

Still, out of all the "exploration" or "climbing the hill" 'sports' caving seems so risky. I get reaching the top of a mountain gazing across the horizon, I get getting into a cave barely ten humans have set foot in, but I have less understanding for the people risking their lives for the cave. If that makes sense.

Brilliat-Savarin (no affiliation) is a sensation.

First let me legally state I have no affiliation, no promo, nothing. It was just at sale at my local supermarket and then it blew my mind for its pricetag.

Now I've tasted around 20 burratas, and they all do taste more of "fresh milk", but the texture and softness of Brilliat made me for the first time ever write a topic like this.

It's a bit sour, it isn't at all near my favourite type of cheese. But for what it does? The whole "brie" side of cheeses? Godamn. Highly recommend it at least once. It's like the softest butter you've ever tasted.

Anyway I'm unsober so pardon if I break custom here

Back in the day reddit seemed to always link towards active and trending topics. You'd get there 1-6 hours into the discourse

For some reason nowdays it keeps giving me topics where the entire conversation-space is 1-6 DAYS old.

Sorting with "New" just makes me get random new posts where half are stillborn, shitposts, botposts or so new (sub 30minutes) that you can't tell if it is even worth engaging because maybe no one will even see it. I mean I still post in such things from time to time, not being a slave to the algorithm and all that.

But TLDR I miss the feeling of connection, debate and actual discourse that the old reddit-system had. Is there any app to get back that feed?

Thanks
