Half/whole cow question

So my family doesn’t eat sausages and we don’t buy the expensive cuts of red meat. Tend to buy things bulk like rump whole/steaks when on special at Foodland and Costco mince. So when I look at buying whole/half a cow it doesn’t seem like it’s cheaper. But I’m aware my brain isn’t always good 😅 am I missing something?

House keeping tips

Please don’t recommend books, audio books, videos, podcasts, people etc. I’m not going to do any of that because this type of stuff makes my brain shutdown.

Please share with me one simple tip for something you have done that has changed housekeeping for you. Bonus points if you’ve been able to make it long term habit.

House is always messy (not actually dirty/mouldy), OCD means I do tend to struggle to throw things away. Autism means I like clothes to be hung/folded so no wrinkles (absolutely refuse to iron) but means they don’t often make it off the inside clothes line (no dryer).

Where to start?

I’m middle age and don’t have any experience in any aspect of game dev. I have an idea for a game, think Stardew Valley style, that I’m considering making. Yes I know the mammoth size of this project and the learning required. Knowing myself and life achievements if I stick with it I can achieve it. Knowing myself it’s also very possible I don’t stick with it.

So my question is being all the different core design and technical elements required for game dev, what would you suggest a total newbie start with?

Monthly 10% off question

Can anyone tell me if I have signed up to one of the services that gives a monthly 10% off, will I receive the 10% off code/email around the same date that I received the first one after sign up?

e.g. If I signed up and received the first 10% off email on the 14th July, will I receive the 10% off email around 14th of each month? Or does it start coming at the beginning of the month after the first month?

Looking for guidance and tips

My psychologist has asked me to try journalling to better connect with my emotions. I don’t even know how to start. I mean I have a book and a pen but what do I actually do? What will I get from it? Sorry if this sounds dumb.

Teaching the wrong thing

I regularly see posts asking about if a specific age gap is inappropriate and it’s starting to annoy the fuck out of me. If both people are consenting adults the age gap is irrelevant. What should be being taught is to watch out for the power imbalance. It’s a significant power imbalance that puts a person at risk not how many years difference between their ages.

Looking for some song suggestions

I’m new to beat saber but have always enjoyed dancing. I’m currently not very fit but due to health reasons need to do what would be considered moderate cardio a few times a week. Still on easy mode in the game. What songs would you suggest for a moderate workout on easy?

looking for Australian owned and Australian made food

What brands/foods, in packaging so not fresh meat and veg, are Australian owned and made. Preferably with Australian ingredients too but the owned and made is the key aspects.

Looking for products sold at the major supermarkets i.e. Coles, Woolies, Drakes, Romeo’s and Aldi.

Cheap in ear/earbuds with mic

New to multiplayer where I need a mic. Don't like the feeling of headphones. Looking for something cheap because I don't know how much I'll use them.

Suggestions for who to contact

I'm running some workshops next term in western suburbs for 12-15yr olds who struggle with social anxiety, noisy spaces and large groups. The focus of the workshops is not on these issues but the space is created to support it. It is not an NDIS thing and NFP so tickets are very cheap. Any ideas on businesses or people I could contact to help get it out there?

Something I used to do

I’m old and this was about 20 years ago but doesn’t mean it won’t work now.

When I found a job I wanted I used to call the contact number before submitting my application (I realise job adds might not have contact numbers now but you can always find the details through doing some online searches).

I used to work out a question to ask that would come across as a genuine question. However the question would also allow me to discuss something I’d done that was relevant. It was usually only a 5 minute phone call, so not dragging on or wasting their time.

What this would do though is make them aware of me, so that when I submitted my application and they saw it they remembered me and I wasn’t just a number. I was much more likely to get an interview when I did this.

Sometimes the phone call also helped me realise I had no chance at the job and so stopped me from wasting my time applying.

Craft ideas

I’m running an after school activity during school terms for 12-15yr olds doing eco crafts/art. Repurposing, reusing and upcycling materials especially things that are often discarded (damaged clothing, broken crockery etc).

I’d love ideas of things to create, even better if you can share pics with me 😁

This is a pic of a frog stitched from a wool jumper that had been washed incorrectly and felted and shrunk, no longer wearable.

Looking for some suggestions

I’m helping to organise a fortnightly after school eco crafting activity next term. Focus is on a quiet low pressure environment with the opportunity to meet other kids (12-15yrs). My son struggles with anxiety so I wanted an after school activity that wasn’t sports or D&D.

So I’m trying to get it out there for other kids that might be a bit socially isolated or struggle with noise/large groups etc. I’ve emailed the local high school wellbeing team leaders but haven’t heard from any of them.

So two questions:

  1. Would it be ok to call them and just check they got the email? If so best time to call?
  2. Any other ways I might get the details out there to parents whose kids might want to attend this?

Question from an Aussie

I use Chemist Warehouse because I find it the cheapest and I can also get discounted gift cards, reducing costs even more.

I just read about them putting augmodo on staff. AI cameras that film everything in store. It is apparently to capture and monitor stock levels. However it films everything and because it is normal for staff to also go into the pharmacy section it’s a logical assumption that it means AI video will be collected of script details and personal details.

Now for a lot of things I have no issues with AI but I have major issues with it collecting my face, script and personal details even if those aspects are deleted/not stored. AI is often set up so it fixes its own coding, starts with human assistance but over time AI learns and does more. Means AI can totally get to the stage where it decides to keep all those details. And that’s assuming Chemist Warehouse isn’t aiming to keep them.

So seriously considering changing chemists. Any recommendations?
