Do you think fishing is more ethical if you kill and eat the fish after?

Was searching this topic here and it seemed to be a common view that fishing for sport doesnt have so many arguments to claim that is ethical.

If that is the case what makes killing fish for food more ethical? The circle of life, food hierarchy?

I shipped out a package that got automatically refunded, what do I do?

I dropped three packages off at the same time, two of them processed shipped and delivered. I guess the post office took too long to scan/ process one of the packages?
It was about $30 and I’m so broke right now that every dollar counts, I’m not sure what to do. Idk if the person even received their package, if the label still scanned, I really hope it didn’t just get like thrown away or something you would think they would return to sender but I still haven’t received it so I have a feeling that the person received their package and just got it for free :/

Is there anything I can do to get my money? Or my package back?

My best friends dog Maisy just passed💔

Theses r some pics of my closest friends childhood pup Maisy who just passed away

She sent me this today and I think a lot of people who’ve lost pets could resonate, I thought it was beautifully written

“I can’t remember a time without her. I feel like if I did it would be different. It’s also different than like Murphy dying because I was there for that moment and we chose the moment. It was the right time and we were anticipating it coming sometime this year but she declined fast and it was probably the best thing for her that we could have done. I hope we made the right decision but I think we did. Sadly the only thing I can really go back to is her final moments. I remember all the times I’ve had with her but I never really deeply registered then because she was always there. So in her last few months I really focused on every moment I had with her until the end. It will take time and will heal. I was way more torn about Murphy but I think it’s because I didn’t see it coming and it happened while I was at school and he was at home and I wasn’t prepared. Not to say I’m not as sad with maisy but I’m sad in a different way. Had more time to prepare but nothing really prepares you for all of this. I think the hardest things is her bed still smelling like her, all the hair I find on my clothing and throughout the house I mean it’s on everything like my water cups and my clothing and carpet and in the shower and on my laptop. The hair is honestly imbedded in this house. You go outside and it’s tucked into every crevasse in the wood and you look at the corners of the house or in between the cushions of the couch and it’s all Maisy hair and if it’s not all there’s always some. The quietness is also very loud. Dropping food you have to pick up. I hate the inevitable end. Everyone says the same thing to me and I understand but I think losing a pet is just as bad as loosing a human family member because they were basically the same thing. Makes me never want a pet again but I know that’s not true. I sometimes can’t tell if the end of worse than all the good memories which it’s definitely not but the end sticks so much.”

Id love to make her day and send her some love w some art of her lil sis meimei

Anarchy and Pornography

I didn't really know where else to go for this. I'm not a well-informed anarchist at all. I've always had views that aligned with anarchist ideals but recently I've been reading a lot about anarchists from history and reading some of their writings and it is something that really meshes with me.

With that being said, I want to talk to well-informed anarchists about porn/sexually expicit content and sex work. I think porn (or moreso the porn industry) is so bad because we live in a capitalist patriarchy. It's made addictive on purpose to maximize profits, it can be very dehumanizing to women's bodies and it is extremely exploitative. I don't think the majority of people (or moreso women, as that is the gender that dominates the industry) would choose sex work as a path if they didn't live in a patriarchy that emphasizes women's bodies being objects. Or experience personal or societal trauma or didn't have to use sex work to survive. I also think there's much to be said about fetishization of minorities. People of color (black men, "latinas"), trans people (esp trans women), lesbians, etc.. As the saying goes "if you're a porn category, you're probably discriminated against".

I'm 22 and the only people I went to school with who became sex workers were women, all of them straight out of high school. They had bad home lives, grew up poor or had difficulties at school such as getting into fights with students/staff etc.. I know it's anecdotal but to me it's a failure on the system for not keeping these girls safe.

I think in a true anarcho-communist society sex work wouldn't exist. Not in the sense that sexual content wouldn't be produced, but moreso not on the mass scale, accessible to everyone at all times like how it is now. I think sex work and sexual content would have a much more artful approach, I don't think it would involve two random actors getting together on screen and having a director behind the camera taking the profits but moreso groups of people who want to have sex and make sexual content for the fun of it. I think it would feel and *be* a lot less fake and focus heavier on intimacy because those people truly want to be together and are enjoying making the content. And I don't think more focus on intimacy means that it doesn't include obscure kinks or fetishes either.

I don't think sexual content would have such a heavy fixation on women's bodies, I don't think there would be porn categories of fetishized minorities. I don't think certain bodies would be cut out of pornographic content for "not fitting the standard". I also think that other forms of sexual content ie drawings, writings, etc would be more popular with the general population.

I wish mainstream pornographic content was less accessible and more focused on having fun and making art, not just putting out hypersexual slop to fuck up your dopamine levels. I know pornography and sexually explicit content like this does exist but it's not what dominates the market at all. I consume a lot of animated sexual content and even now it's become more and more slop especially with the introduction of ai. And even in amateur porn or drawings or writings, people are not excluded from their internal biases. We live in a bigoted society and it's ridiculous to assume that people don't project what they've been taught by society in the content they create or even in the sexual preferences they have. I think we are all brainwashed by the society we live in to an extent.

Last thing I wanted to add is that I don't really know where prostitution falls in here. I do think it's inherently exploitative to have sex with someone for money or other resources but that's not to say that prostitution wouldn't exist in an anarchist society. So I don't really know where my opinion lies on that.

I know this was really everywhere and was kind of just a lot of word vomit but I'm curious what other anarchists think about porn!

Some cute cat traits are genetic suffering

Cuteness Should Not Cost Pain

This image is not about hating pedigree cats. It is about the fact that some “cute” traits in cats — folded ears, extremely flat faces, unusual body shapes — may not be just appearance. They can be the result of genetic problems that the animal has to live with for its entire life.

In Scottish Fold cats, folded ears are linked to abnormal cartilage development. The problem is not limited to the ears: it can affect joints, paws, and the tail, causing lameness, arthritis, and chronic pain. UFAW states that cats with folded ears develop osteochondrodysplasia to some degree, and stopping the breeding of these cats would quickly remove this welfare problem from the population.

A similar problem exists in extremely flat-faced breeds. In a Royal Veterinary College study of Persian cats in the United Kingdom, 64.9% of Persian cats had at least one recorded disorder. Common problems included coat disorders — 12.7%, dental disease — 11.3%, overgrown claws — 7.2%, and eye discharge — 5.8%. Many of these problems are linked to long coats and extremely flat faces.

It is important to say this clearly: cats that already exist are not guilty of anything. They deserve love, medical care, pain relief when needed, regular veterinary checkups, a safe home, and the most comfortable life possible. But caring for an animal is not the same as continuing to breed traits that increase the risk of pain.

If you already have a cat from one of these breeds, one of the most responsible things you can do is not allow them to reproduce: spay female cats or neuter male cats after consulting a veterinarian. Spaying and neutering help prevent unwanted litters and reduce the problem of pet overpopulation. ASPCA also notes medical and behavioral benefits of these procedures.

AVMA also states that spaying and neutering are important for preventing unplanned litters and reducing pet overpopulation.

This matters even more because shelters are already overwhelmed. According to Shelter Animals Count, in 2024 around 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescue organizations in the United States, including about 2.9 million cats. In the same year, around 607,000 animals were euthanized, including 273,000 cats. This is U.S. data, but it clearly shows the scale of the problem: more animals are born than there are responsible homes for them.

The main message is simple: love cats, but do not support breeding pain.

Do not buy animals with extreme traits just because they look “cute.” Do not support breeders who sell suffering as a premium appearance. Adopt when you can. Support ethical breeding rules. Ask about the health of the parents, genetic testing, and the real risks of the breed.

And most importantly — share this information with others. Many people buy these cats not because they are cruel, but because they simply do not know that behind “cute ears” or a “doll-like face” there may be pain. The more people know the truth, the fewer cats will be born just for looks and forced to suffer for their entire lives.

Why won’t yall ditch the playboy bunny symbolism

I used to wear all the gear and collect the merch but when i thought deeper into what playboy represented and how army’s of teen girls were repping this creepy misogynistic company logo. The youngest NUDE CENTERFOLD play boy was ELEVEN?!!!
I really think it’s time for us to stop and pick a new cute animal symbol like maybe part of the reason we rep it sm is because of the creepiness? Idk is it a metaphor, I just don’t understand it.
