I think for most people it began around the PSX era because of the higher level of audio music and voice (but that’s more so cinematic). Obviously some crazy great ones on SNES but they were always rented out at blockbuster 🙃

Lufia II near the end game. No spoilers. It’s an “OKAY” game. The 99 level dungeon is great but this game is a bit very in depth. Story not great. Puzzles insane hard. Goood lord I hope I have reached the mandatory minimum. Of 300 characters.
The app is 5 gigs data and preventing necessary like apps from updating (banking, Uber/lyft)

Doesn’t help after 3-4 days it’s bloated again
Battles constantly time out.
Connects battles to people halfway across the world no matter what time of day.
I have zero connectivity issues as we have multiple people who work from home
No one is managing this app. I just want to play. I have to either delete it or change my entire lifestyle because it doesn’t work.

Overwrite others saves?
Beg parents to pay late fees so you could complete game?
Beg parents to just buy it because your save file was too valuable and you couldn’t wait until birthday present time?
Some games like RPGs just seemed impossible to rent. I never ever saw FF4 or FF6 available because or this. Extremely lucky I got super Metroid to rent with a friend a few times. Never got Chrono or Earthbound rentals…
Most other consoles took much longer for their greatest hits releases. Granted that was also a new thing at the time that all consoles had just started doing. Maybe this was a last ditch effort to give the console life as it only existed… 18 months or something??? So it had a lower barrier for entry?
...and it makes me feel sick to my stomach.
Edit: You cannot tell me it was not absolutely awesome being able to CUSTOM ORDER any pizza you wanted and then its on the buffet for everyone!
I played the hell out of this demo and EVERY single person I played it with loved it too! Multiplayer CHAOS! I think it timed out halfway through a second round or something like that so we would have to spend like 3 minutes reloading this entire disc every time. I REALLY REALLY wanted a multi-tap so we could play 4 (5?) people at a time. Not all dreams come true. Still had... a blast!

I forgot the mayo and Dijon but it still worked
I should have kept cheese cold and off the hot meat in the pan so it would properly blister in the oven and not slide/melt off
