Rereading Under the Oak Tree for the 5th time, and I still have one question…

I’m rereading Under the Oak Tree for the fifth time, and I STILL can’t get over the fact that Riftan never told Maxi that he used to work at the Duke’s blacksmith workshop when he was a child.

Like… WHY 😭

Why did he never tell her that the memory of her and that little dog was one of the things that gave him comfort during that time? Or that he had loved her since they were children?

I understand that Riftan has a severe inability to communicate his feelings 😂, but this is one thing I desperately wish he had told her.

Imagine Maxi finding out that the person she thought barely noticed her, as a child had actually been holding onto those memories all along. 😭

Antrag auf Gleichstellung – Hilfe bei Begründung (GdB 30, ADHS & Autismus)

Hallo zusammen,

Danke euch

Concern about voluntary restructuring program in German engineering company -how does it work?

Hi everyone,

My company (around 2,000 employees, engineering Germany) just announced a voluntary redundancy program as part of a restructuring.

Management says it’s voluntary and that not all departments are affected, but things are still quite unclear internally.

I’m trying to understand how these programs usually work in practice in Germany, especially in companies like ours.

A few specific questions I’m wondering about:

  • In companies of this size, how many people typically leave in these voluntary programs (percentage-wise)?
  • Is it usually evenly distributed across departments, or do some teams get hit much harder than others?
  • I am single, no kids, one of the youngest in the team but I have disability. How am I going to be affected?
  • What typically happens if not enough people volunteer—does it often escalate into forced layoffs, or do companies usually manage to meet targets voluntarily?

My direct manager mentioned that our department is likely not affected, but I’m trying to understand how reliable that kind of information usually is at this stage.

Would really appreciate any insights from people who’ve been through similar restructuring processes in German industrial/engineering companies.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Gdb 30%, Has anyone experience with the filling an appeal (Wiederspruch)?

Hi everyone,

I recently received my GdB decision and I was given only GdB 30. I have an autism diagnosis and ADHD, and I also have keratoconus in both eyes (my right eye is especially problematic).

I also submitted a detailed report from my doctor (almost 16 pages describing my difficulties), but it seems like it did not have much impact on the decision.

For me, the level of limitation feels much higher than what GdB 30 reflects. My main difficulties are:

  • problems with social communication and interactions
  • significant stress and difficulties in the workplace
  • problems with sensory overload, adapting to changes, and managing everyday situations
  • additional challenges because of my vision problems

I am considering filing an appeal (Widerspruch) and I wanted to ask:

Has anyone here with autism + ADHD (and maybe additional vision problems like keratoconus) appealed a GdB 30 decision and successfully received a higher GdB (for example 50)?

What did you focus on in your appeal? Did a detailed description of your daily limitations help, or were additional medical reports more important?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you 🙏

Führerscheinstelle requested medical report for “mental health issues” – is this normal/legal?

Hi everyone,

I applied for a Class B driving license in Germany recently (first application). After submitting my application and having a short interaction with the office, I received a letter from the Führerscheinstelle asking for a medical certificate from my doctor.

The letter says that they have “indications of significant psychological/mental health issues” (“starken psychisch-mentalen Problemen”) and therefore I need to provide a medical report by a certain deadline.

The report must include:

  • diagnosis
  • medication
  • course of illness
  • and whether my fitness to drive is affected (Fahreignung)

Here is my concern:
I never stated anything like “severe mental health problems” in any form. During a conversation, I only mentioned that I was in the process of being assessed for ADHD and autism, which I believe is very different from having “severe psychological problems.”

Now I feel like this has been misinterpreted and escalated in an exaggerated way. I am also a bit uncomfortable because I take antidepressants, and I am worried about how much medical detail will be shared.

My questions:

  1. Is it normal for the Führerscheinstelle to request such a report based on this kind of information?
  2. Can they really make this assumption without a formal diagnosis or evidence?
  3. How detailed does the doctor report usually have to be regarding medication and mental health history?
  4. Should I be concerned about long-term consequences (e.g. future applications or records)?

Any advice or experience would be appreciated

Thoughts on "people in love" by Claire Daverley

It has been a week since this book was published, and I haven’t seen much discussion about it online yet. I’d really love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it!

I’m about halfway through at the moment. I have to admit I was really looking forward to this book, since I loved Talking at Night.

However, so far I’ve been a bit disappointed because the beginning felt quite slow and, at times, boring. I also struggled to understand certain plot choices, >!for example, why Bren didn’t communicate for 12 years. Was the author intentionally using miscommunication as a recurring theme, like in Talking at Night, where the main characters also fail to properly communicate for years?!<

>!From chapter 9 onwards, when it’s revealed that Freya was the one who didn’t pass Bren’s message to Nora, the idea of waiting 12 years without moving on felt a bit unrealistic to me.!<

That said, I do appreciate how the author portrayed Robin and the way she reflects regret and emotional consequences in adulthood.

Would love to hear other people’s interpretations, especially if you found meaning in the long silence/miscommunication themes.

High Society: where to start with LN after chapter 65 of manhwa?

I am in chapter 65 of manhwa and wanna start right after the novel. Where shall I start?

I can not stand high society!

I started reading High Society because someone recommended it to me when I asked for something similar to Betrayal of Dignity, but honestly I don’t really get the female lead anymore.

At the beginning she felt like someone who at least cared about herself and had boundaries, but later she became so passive? Especially after the nightclub scene with Cesar. It feels like she just accepts whatever he wants and adapts herself around him even when he humiliates or pressures her.

And the more I read, the less the comparison to Damien makes sense to me. Damien was manipulative and toxic too, but I never felt like the story completely erased Chloe’s sense of self the way this one does. Cesar just feels degrading most of the time rather than complex.

Am I missing something in the character writing or is this a common frustration people have with this manhwa? would it get better?

E-Visa for iranian passport

Hi everyone,I'm an Iranian passport holder trying to get the Cambodia tourist e-Visa through the official site (evisa.gov.kh). I have already uploaded:

  • Passport scan
  • Hotel reservation (from tour agency, with my full name + dates + hotel details)
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket
  • Bank statement for the last 3 months (PDF with my name on it)

I renamed all files to very simple English names (bank.pdf, hotel.pdf, ticket.pdf) as suggested by many people. But no matter what I do, the system keeps giving errors when uploading documents or after submission. I contacted their support email multiple times and they just send the same generic reply.Questions:

  1. Has anyone with an Iranian passport successfully got the e-Visa recently (2026)?
  2. Did you face the same upload/file name issues? How did you solve it?
  3. Is Visa on Arrival working fine for Iranians right now at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport?

Any recent experience would be really helpful. Thank you!

Going directly to Vietnam's embassy in Germany with invitation letter from travel agency after failing to get e-visa and VOA

Has anyone recently applied for a Vietnam tourist visa with an Iranian passport through the Vietnamese Embassy in Berlin?

My e-Visa application has been stuck for weeks, and I was told that for embassy processing I may need an approval letter from Vietnam Immigration. However, a travel agency informed me that due to current administrative regulations, approval letters for Iranian passport holders are currently very difficult or not being issued directly.

The agency can still provide me with:

  • an invitation letter
  • stamped travel itinerary
  • tour confirmation

I live outside Berlin, so going there would take time and money. Before I travel to the embassy, I wanted to ask:

Has anyone successfully received a tourist visa in a similar situation without an immigration approval letter but with supporting documents from a tour agency?

Is it worth going to the embassy in person, or will they most likely reject the application immediately without the immigration approval letter?

My trip starts in about two weeks, so I’m trying to decide quickly.

Thanks a lot for any advice or recent experiences.

Hi everyone,

I applied for a Vietnam e-visa on April 22, but my application keeps showing a message saying “please complete the all the empty part of the form.” The problem is that I’ve already filled everything out completely (and double-checked multiple times), so I’m not sure what exactly is missing or wrong.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What could this message actually mean?

Also, how long does it usually take to receive the e-visa? My flight is on May 25, and I’m starting to get a bit worried.

For context, I hold an Iranian passport.

I’d really appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks!
