Why underprivileged castes are more interested and fighting for keeping reservation.. instead of ending discrimanation ?
It has been 70+ years since independence and reservation reform.
And still there is discrimanation based on caste.
Generally any activist would want to end this discrimanation and would dream of a day without discrimanation.
The main objective of any person should is facing discrimanation would be to end the discrimanation as soon as posible.
Women faced discrimanation and fought against it and feminism only aim is to end gender discrimanation. And we could reasonably day they succeed
The dusky people also faced discrimanation and fought against it and dreamt of a day where people of different races are treated equally. And we could reasonably day they have succeeded.
But in india. It seems the underprivileged don't want to end caste discrimanation as soon as possible. Instead they seem to be more interested in reserve and various benefits.
If ending discrimanation was main objective them we could try various reforms and abolish one that don't work and create new one and try new reforms analyze and turn every stone till a day comes when all castes people are treated equally and respectly.
But what it seems that more people are interested in keeping the reservation. And not interested in ending discrimanation. And they are fight and arguing with the only aim of keeping the reservation alive at any cost.
Their focal of interest seems to be reserved rather than ending reservation.
To the point if some gives them a choice
- End discrimanation
Or
- Keep reservation
They would choose reservation. And happily live being discrimanated.
From last 70 years. Any unions are not doing activism to end discrimanation.
And instead celebrating reservation and fighting and arguing to keep it alive.
