Houston Montrose, why are the lights so bright?

I’ve been going to all of the Houston studios for a while, and I never remember there being yellow lights that stayed on the entire class.

I asked the coach about it after the class and she said that the studio is older so it doesn’t get that dark. She then asked if I go to Post Oak, to which I said yes, I go to all the locations. She responded that post oak was “actually too dark.” I don’t remember Montrose being so bright. What gives?

I do usually go to post oak or the heights, but the AC situation at post oak is unacceptable right now. And the heights is much further for me during rush hour (25-30 minutes instead of 10). And Rice Village has no parking. 😂 😫

Same Bacon, One Month Later (Oscar Meyer Thick Cut)

Spoiler, these were both shitty, just in different ways. In July, I started taking pictures of my usual bacon brand because I noticed that the pieces were getting fattier, thinner, and honestly seemed like scrap meat. They spoiled very quickly as well. The pieces in both photos are from packs that I just opened.

Something that’s important to know is that I am a very regimented person, and I cook my bacon the same way every time: in the microwave for four minutes on a paper plate (don’t judge me). By this point, one piece will be cooked, so I remove it and I continue to add on 30 seconds until all of the rest of the pieces are cooked. Even with this shitty bacon fro July, that system still worked.

However, I just opened a pack of bacon today, and it’s clear that while the bacon seems to be of higher quality, there’s nothing thick cut about it. I put it in the microwave for my usual four minutes, and all of the pieces burnt to a literal crisp. They were inedible. There’s also a significantly higher ratio of fat on each piece.

I’m not an expert on the end and out of what makes meat high-quality or not, but this is a pretty clear indicator that it went from good, to shitty, to a pure rip off. The pieces don’t even fill up the same plate that I’ve been using this whole time. I usually have to maneuver the four pieces to fit them on the plate, and I very clearly could fit a fifth piece on the plate from this month.

So to summarize, the bacon went from good quality and thick, to poor quality and thin in thickness, to better quality but thin in both width and thickness.

Low-CNS Fatigue Program?

I am on a major weight loss journey, so I primarily focus on diet and cardio. I also take heated classes.

I’m looking for a great 3 day a week program that hits all of the fundamentals, ideally with an upper, lower, full body structure. Since I eat in a significant deficit (while still hitting my protein + carb goals), I know that I won’t grow much muscle, so my primary focus is maintaining the muscle mass that I do have, while not being so tired that I can’t do my cardio. I’m comfortable with all gym equipment.

I am currently on Ascend but it’s too hard to balance it with my calorie deficit and my cardio. I will have to circle back once I’m eating in maintenance/a slight surplus because I love it.

I am not looking for fat loss or diet tips as I have a dietician and doctor. I am only asking for Ladder program recommendations.

Thanks!

Houston, what’s the Lululemon prize?

I’m first on the waitlist for one of the Lululemon classes but I’m tired and trying to see if it’s worth going anyway lol.

Extremely Repetitive Meals - Houston Tx

I feel like they severely cut back the meals in preparation of Thanksgiving last year, and they e never returned to the same level of option options.

Every week it's the same thing. Mexican beef chili, chicken Shawarma, and 30 types of chicken curry that almost all taste the same.

The biggest hit has been to the “sides” menu. I used to be able to get a whole buffalo chicken wings, crispy chicken schnitzel to add on top of my pastas, the hungry vaquero meal which came with steak, enchilada, beans and rice (now the only sell the enchillada/beans/rice version).

I paused my subscription and every week, | log onto the app to try to build a cart and I just can't make myself pay for these meals. It feels like they have really cheapened their model focus on rice + meat or pasta + meat wherever possible, and have lost the creativity in the process. Quite frankly, it feels like they are just selling struggle meals with fancy names at high prices at this point. It feels more like a cafeteria than a food service that I actually want to patronize. Is it just me?

Teachers that program strength moves consecutively instead of circuits?

Are there any instructors that tend to program class to perform a move, rest, perform a move, rest, then move on to a different move, as opposed to doing one move, then another, then another, then repeating that as a circuit? I hope that makes sense lol. I like to finish one move before moving into another instead of supersets or circuits.

Unpopular opinion…

At a luxury gym, I should not have to allow anyone to work in with me between my sets. I agree with every rule here except for that one. If I wanted to share equipment, I would go to EOS for $25. What’s the point in wiping down my equipment and putting my towels down if someone’s gonna sit their sweaty ass on it between my sets anyway? I don’t even like people asking me how many sets I have left when I have my headphones in at a gym that costs $300 a month. I know I will be downvoted for this but I don’t care.

Nurri tastes different?

I got my first box of the coffee flavor and vanilla flavor two months ago and I was hooked. I got it from Costco so I had enough to last for a while. I just re-purchased it and, to me, the coffee flavored no longer taste like coffee at all. It kinda just tastes like water and sucralose with maybe a little milk? I’m not someone that avoids or does not like sucralose, but it does not taste the same to me, and I can’t figure out if I’ve just gotten tired of sucralose, or if something has changed. Anyone else?
