Cousins baby already walking

I’m feeling some type of way right now. My cousins baby is 10.5 months and my boy just turned a year yesterday. My cousin sent me a video today of her son walking and told me he had started walking this past weekend after my son’s bday party. My boy has taken a total of 4 steps in the past 2 days. I know I shouldn’t feel any type of way about this because all babys are different but I can’t help but be in my feelings. Now I’m anxious for my boy to start walking, when at first, I was so chill about him not walking yet.

Just came here to vent. Wondering if any other parents have been in the same boat as me. 🐣

Anyone get a reaction like this from mosquitoes??

I feel like the older I get the worse the bites get? I’m in AZ. Monsoon season sucks but it’ll rain for a few hours one day and it brings out tons of mosquitoes. I can’t even walk outside without them eating me alive. Is it a specific species that gives me this reaction? Because not all my bites look like this. I checked my entire bedroom and living room furniture for bedbugs, nothing. It doesn’t look or feel like a spider bite either.

When did you switch from formula to milk?

Hi everyone. My baby is going to be 1 on the 18th 🥹

Did you start weaning your baby off of formula after they turned a year? Before they turned a year? I was thinking of starting now but I’m not sure. I plan on asking is pediatrician at his one year appointment.

Kind advice appreciated, thank you.

Why isn’t the new leaf popping out yet?

Hi everyone. I got this ruby in May, waited a month or so before repotting so it could acclimate to its new environment. Used a chunky soil mix and removed the nursery mesh from its root ball. I repotted it 2 weeks ago and still nothin! This new growth that looks like it’s about to pop out a new leaf has been like this for about a month. It’s gotten taller but, that’s it.

I also had propagated 5 little guys from a burgundy that I had and potted those into soil the same day and it’s already popping out new growth!

Meh. They get a good amount of sun all day. Am I doing something wrong? Are ruby’s stubborn? 🪴

Breaks?

A family member of mine just started working at Raytheon and during their training period they were getting (2) 15 minute paid breaks with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Training is over. A supervisor in their area mentioned that paid breaks are 10 minutes not 15. And that they’ve seen people let go due to taking breaks longer than 10 minutes.

My relative doesn’t know I’m asking Reddit this. I just want to know if it is true that paid breaks are only 10 minutes not 15?

(They are hourly not salary)

Teeth 🦷

OK, so I am a new mom. I have an 11 month old. Cousins and friends of mine always tell me about their kids and their dentist visits. I wouldn’t say they’re traumatizing me, but I will say that the stories freak me out. The thought of taking my son to the dentist scares me because of what their kids go through. They have cavities, they need to get fillings or have to get root canals and they have caps on their teeth. I’m wondering if that’s a parenting issue / mistakes that they made with the kids or if it’s genetics or I don’t know, but I’m trying to do everything in my power to prevent my son from having any of those things. I don’t have cavities. I’ve never had cavities but his dad on the other hand had cavities as a kid and I think a little bit as an adult. But yeah, if anybody can just give me some advice on what to do and what not do to prevent my son from having fillings and cavities and all that fun stuff. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

(I used speak to text on this so i apologize 😭)

Kind advice is appreciated.

Miss my old boobs

I wasn’t top heavy before getting pregnant and having my son. I had small lil boobs and I loved them. I never ever had to wear a bra. Fast forward to now……I have to wear a sports bra in the house. Actually I don’t even own a real bra. I’ve been wearing sports bras since after giving birth and I’m 11 months postpartum. I miss my small lil boobs so much. I know I’ll never get them back even with weight loss. I especially hate when my phone pops up old cute pics reminding me of what I once was lol

I know I’m know alone in this I just wanna say to anyone that can relate… I feel you girl. I feel you.

Moisturizing your neck?

What are your thoughts on moisturizing your neck?

Can you recommend any good neck creams? Does it need to be specifically for the neck or will regular moisturizer work? Sigh. I’m late to this party.

Never again

First time mom here. With a beautiful 11 month old baby boy.

I also have 9.5 year old long haired german shepherd. I’d always joke that he was my “first born” my “son” my “child”. When people would ask “do you have kids?” I’d reply “yes he has 4 legs” and I always thought it was so funny.

Anyways, fast forward to now, I still love him with all my heart.. but I fear this will be the last dog, the last animal I’ll ever own. Up until I had my son, I never noticed the dog hair everywhere, the dirt being tracked in the house, the barking, the whining, the genital grooming, having to pick up his poop outside + dealing with all the flies from his pee areas. Never phased me.

Now? It drives. Me. Insane.

I look at him and get so sad and apologize to him for interrupting his life with our baby. I tell him how sorry I am that he can’t come in our room and sleep on our bed or couches anymore. I tell him I’m sorry for not letting him in our living room anymore because that’s the babys sanctuary.

He’s just a dog doing dog things. And all the dog things he does unfortunately gets under my skin.

I told my boyfriend that we’ll never be getting an other animal in the house and he’s okay with it but I can also tell he is sad about it.

In the far far very far future once our dog is no longer here, I will be broken and I hate myself for saying this but I’ll feel somewhat of a weight being lifted off my shoulders.

Breaks my heart, all of this.

On a happy note, the baby absolutely adores our dog. The dog just simply exists and the baby laughs like crazy when he’s around haha

That is all. 🐾

Swimming!

Hi! Today I took my son to his first swim lesson! He absolutely loved it!

I need all the tips and tricks I can get when it comes to swimming with babies! He’ll be 11 months in 5 days.

I waited until arriving to put on his swim diaper, since it doesn’t absorb anything, if he peed on the way there it’d leak everywhere, right? did I do that right?

I put sunscreen on him when we got there, should I do it before leaving the house?

Do I rinse him off there in the showers? Or is it ok to wash him when I get back home? (It’s about 6-8 minutes away)

Do I need to use soap when rinsing him after the pool? I feel like a bath with soap everyday would dry him out?

I was waddling around with his diaper bag with all of our things and my crocs were so slippery. He’s a big boy, 28lbs, so carrying him around is tough! Let alone all wet!

Since I don’t live far from the pool, I just put him in the car seat with his swim diaper and trunks and crossed my fingers he didn’t pee. Washed him with soap and water when we got home.

Cherish your village.

It’s just me, my boyfriend and our 10 month old baby boy. I’m a sahm. My bf helps as much as he can when he’s home and at night and on the weekends.

I know people who have a village to help the them with their baby/ babies and I hate to admit how jealous, how envious I am of them.

I wish mine or my boyfriend’s parents were present in our son’s life. We are both only children (his brother passed away in 2020) and don’t have siblings to call on.

Sometimes I just wish my mom or dad were there. There to baby sit once in a blue moon. There to show love to our boy.

I get so sad watching videos on YouTube of grandparents being the best grandparents in the world for their children and grandchildren.

😔😏

So to those who have a village to call on? Cherish them. 🤍

Landman

I became way too invested in Landman and now I’m so pissed because now I have to wait for season 3. Why do I do this to myself 😩

I loved watching this show so much.

The only thing I didn’t care too much for was Ariana’s acting. Other than that it was great.

Anyone else annoyed they have to wait for season 3? lol

Advice. Am I too old now?

I’ve been wanting to do brows (micro blading, nano brows and shaping), lashes and nails for my entire 20s. Life got in the way and I was never able to even venture into any of it. I’m 32 about to be 33 in October.

I have an almost 1 year old now. And now I feel even further from attempting to become anything anymore. That’s all I want to do. I’ve only ever worked customer service, management, retail and with the public my entire life.

If you’re still reading this (sorry for not getting to the point) my question is: is it too late for me to try?

Kind advice is appreciated. Thank you 🤍

I am simply, exhausted.

Moms, do you ever just get that eye twitch like “I’m about to go crazy” when your bf/husband tells you they’re tired?

I’m a sahm and dude.. This shit can get very exhausting being clocked in 24/7. Yes, my bf helps here and there but 9 times out of 10 I’m the one feeding, changing, bathing and waking up at all hours of the night with the baby. (Etc)

I try to justify it by telling myself “he pays all the bills, he’s renovating our house, takes the trash out, picks up the dog poop and has to go to work…”

I am so grateful to get to stay home with my baby. But sometimes I just wanna sleep a solid 7-8 hours with no interruptions. I feel like that’s just an unattainable dream and that I’ll never sleep again. The lack of sleep is aging me.

Shoe size after pregnancy?

I’m 5’3 and I used to wear size 8.5 in women’s. After pregnancy I’m now a size 9.5.

Upset because all the shoes I’ve ever had no longer fit me. Also very uncomfortable with the fact that I’m only 5’3 with such large feet. When I was a size 8.5 I was already pretty self conscious because I felt that my height didn’t match my foot size. I guess being bullied when I was younger didn’t help either.

Anyone else experience a permanent change in foot size? 😔😩

Renting??

Renting??

Hi I’m helping my cousin find a place to rent for $1350. She’s looking for 2/3 bed 1 bath. Preferably AC. On site or in unit laundry. She’s open to apartments but would prefer house/condo/townhome.

Was looking on Zillow and can’t find shit. Is there anywhere else to look to find a place besides Zillow??

What are her chances on finding something that she’s looking for with the rent she’s able to pay?? Sigh.. housing sucks these days. I remember getting a cute little 1bed 1 bath townhome with small yard for $500 in 2018. That same place is at 900/1000.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thank you.

Ficus Elastica Burgundy questions 🪴

Hi guys! One of my propagation plants has new growth on the top and on the bottom! I tried to take good pics I hope you can see what I’m talking about! Is this normal? What does it mean? It’s just wild to me lol (first 3 pics)

And an other one of my propagated plants has lots of roots and I’m wondering how long I have to wait before potting into soil?? Also it’s a pretty long stem of roots! I’d say about 8” long?? (Last pic)

This is my first time propagating. Please forgive me lol 🤍🪴 advice is appreciated. Thank you!

To repot or not to repot

Hi! I cut back my ficus elastica (burgundy I believe) about a month ago. The original pot it was in fell over and broke so I repotted it. I used a mix of soil, perlite and orchid bark. Soaked it through and it has fungus gnats now.

I’ve had the plant since 2020 and it’s never had gnats. I’m very sad about it. I’ve been letting it dry out and haven’t watered it since repotting. Someone said that gnats “hitched a ride” in the new soil.

I was going to make bti “tea” by soaking mosquito bits in water then use that when I water it again. Wondering if it’s worth trying to do all of that or if I should just get new soil mix and repot.

It has SO much new growth that I don’t want to mess it up. Anyway. Sorry rambling. Any suggestions are appreciated 🪴
