When life hits you with a sudden shock, it teaches you something no one else can. What’s something you’ve learned?

When life hits you with a sudden shock, it teaches you something no one else can. What’s something you’ve learned?

The day before yesterday, after giving my puppy a bath, I slipped in the bathroom and severely injured my Achilles tendon. There was heavy blood loss, and I had to be moved to the ICU immediately. Yesterday, I underwent surgery, and now I’m on complete bed rest.

It still feels unreal how life can change within 2–3 seconds. One moment everything was normal, and the next, my leg was almost torn apart. Seeing that situation in front of my mom, grandma, and sister was something I’ll never forget.

What surprised me the most was how calmly I handled everything despite the chaos. I immediately tied my leg tightly with a towel to slow the bleeding and asked my sister to arrange help while my family contacted my dad and friends to get me to the hospital quickly. Everyone around me was panicking, but somehow I stayed composed.

Being in the ICU and seeing people fighting for life around me made me realize how unpredictable and fragile life really is. It changes your perspective completely.

One thing I’ve learned from this experience: enjoy the present, don’t delay the things that matter, value good friends, earn well, and most importantly, protect your peace of mind. Staying calm and mentally strong during difficult moments matters more than we realize.

Good luck to everyone, and take care of yourselves.

Just experimenting

I want to understand the ratio based on the plant size. Is it possible to make this plant grow big, bushy, and flowery in such a small glass? What kind of fertilizer and soil mix would help me get the maximum growth here?

I did some soft pruning from the top and now I can already see new leaves forming. Planning to shape it properly next and will keep updating the progress.

Also, is it possible to graft different colored branches onto this plant? How do people usually test or understand what nutrients a plant needs, and how much grafting between different varieties is actually possible?

Today I gave a small amount of Epsom salt. During repotting I added some humic acid, and the day before yesterday I used NPK 19:19:19.

Handling overwhelming early-morning stress and real responsibility?

4 a.m. on a Sunday, and for the past 45 minutes, he’s been nonstop barking and it’s honestly overwhelming. He literally woke everyone up from sleep. I was already fed up seeing society push the same “settle down, marriage, kids” script like it’s the only path, and I don’t really see meaning in that direction right now, still wanted to test it for myself.

Lately my parents have been talking about marriage and kids, and I thought getting a dog would help me understand responsibility and patience. Instead, it just gave me a real reality check about how demanding caregiving actually is.

Narak doston 😅, test yourself before taking big decisions, good luck, be careful. Whoever has married recently, how’s life going?

Nurseries have these tiny plants in small pots but they’re packed with flowers. How do they do it? Is it fertilizers, pruning, or something more scientific like growth regulators? Would love to know the actual methods behind this.

Any experienced gardeners here?

26 now, and I feel the need to build a home for myself. The design preferences my father and I have are completely different, and I can’t continue staying in this room anymore. At the moment, I have a car, a bike, and a dog, and I work from home.

I want a house with a smart garage that can accommodate both my car and bike. I only need two rooms and a single bathroom, and two spacious halls would be sufficient. Everything should be extremely minimalistic, I don’t want any unnecessary items. I don’t even need a traditional bed; I’d prefer a floor setup with a mattress and pillows.

I’d like a large TV that can also function as a monitor, so I can use the same setup for both work and entertainment. Basic furniture like a sofa, a table, and a dining setup is enough. I also want a large tree inside the main living space.

The front should have large glass sections, and I’d like a rooftop patio as well, with partial glass coverage. Outside, I want a simple lawn with a few flowers, nothing too varied, just something that looks consistent across all seasons. The overall design and colors should be clean and minimal, with no flashy or loud elements. I’d prefer a palette limited to two or three tones, possibly including onyx.

Given all this, what do you think would be the minimum cost to build something like this? I don’t wanna burn a lot of cash, I’ve also realized that the quality of the builder matters a lot, even expensive materials can look bad if the execution isn’t good. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Since Friday’s off, it’s a long weekend - anyone up to join a trip (and split the costs a bit 😅)? I’m a bit broke, but it’s been a while since I went anywhere. Just need some fresh air and good conversations - keep it chill, nothing weird.

Edit - No lecture please, drop a dm for further discussion, I live in Jalukbari.

Anyone else go from never wanting kids to wanting to be a dad? I’m 25ish now, but seeing the world rn such pollution, chaos, uncertainty - I’ve got 0 interest bringing another generation into this mess.

Been talking to this girl for long, and she always gets mad at me for it, says I’m manipulated/negative. I shared facts and stuff that shaped my view, but she ignores it and seems in a fantasy world where she’d compromise anything just to have kids.

She’s not even settled or focused properly rn, but only talks marriage, kids, enjoy life.

Is this a red flag or am I dumb and not understanding life?

Lately had a lab now he’s 4 month, god damn it’s freaking tough🥺😄

Once freebies become the norm, how exactly do you take them back? That’s the real question nobody wants to answer. Starting them is easy, winning votes is easy, but ending that dependency later is almost impossible. The moment people get used to free benefits, any attempt to remove them turns into outrage, protests, and political suicide. Then every party is forced to offer even more just to compete. It becomes a cycle with no exit plan. Short-term gain, long-term damage. Easy promises today can become tomorrow’s burden. Once freebies start, who really has the courage to stop them later?

What an amazing ride it was. For the first time, I let her breathe the fresh hill air in the cold December breeze, with sunshine on her body. I’ll never forget the first solo trip I had back in December 2023.
