What went wrong with Judge Dredd (1995)?

Question, What went wrong with Judge Dredd (1995)?

I watched the 1995 Judge Dredd and I don’t care what critics say. I love the film. Everything Is so over the top and I just love the set and productions designs and the visual effects. Stallone also, in my opinion, gives a good performance as Judge Dredd.

However, just reading the behind the scenes stories, The Production was a mess. Although I like Stallone as Dredd, I don’t think he really understood the character and probably didn’t understand the satirical nature of Dredd. The Director, Danny Cannon, apparently had a grand vision for the film, wanting it to be the “Ben-Hur of Comic Books” while also being more darker and satirical, while Stallone wanted an Action Comedy and generally, Stallone won out in the end.

Although I love Judge Dredd, I think Stallone didn’t understand the nature of the source material. He should’ve watched RoboCop to get a better understanding of the character. I also think because Stallone and the director clashed on the vision, they couldn’t come to terms with what story they wanted to do.

So, What do you think went wrong with the film?

What happened to Richard Dreyfuss after the 90s?

Question, What happened to Richard Dreyfuss after the 90s?

I was watching some of Richard Dreyfuss films lately that are not his more notable work (Stakeout, Let It Ride) and I felt they were fun that he is really good in them and has a charming presence in them.

However, It got me thinking on what happened with Dreyfuss. I feel that after the 90s, he had a real drop off in quality with his film roles and never really recovered. So I wonder what happened. Yes, I do know and read that Dreyfuss is very difficult to work with. I also that that during the early 2000s, Dreyfuss decided to semi-retired, and do other stuff, but it seems he is still trying to do Film Work.

I wonder what Joaquin Phoenix's next career move will be?

You know, I was reminded of Joaquin Phoenix recently and I that made me wonder what his next career choices will be.

I'm asking this because I'm reminded now that he dropped out from Todd Haynes's upcoming film, De Noche because he got cold feet and didn't want to do the film, despite the fact that he was the one that brought the idea to Todd Haynes.

I remember reading that it pissed a lot of people off for abandoning the film so close to production and of you believe sources, he is almost blacklisted now. Also doesn't help that Napoleon and Joker: Folie a Deux underperform.

Since Joker and Eddington, Joaquin has just been quiet and possibly laying low since then and no news on what his next film will be. I think, given what happened, Joaquin needs to make his next career move wisely.

Regardless, what do you think?

Trying to find a Episode.

I'm trying to find and remember an Episode, that I just watch recently and now I have forgotten the episode.

All I can remember is Ed Green telling Lennie that "You Are going to have to wait in Line, because I'm going to be the first" that is all I can remember.

Thoughts on Coming Down Hard?

Question, What are your thoughts on Season 15 episode, Coming Down Hard.

In the episode, McCoy charges a CEO when several people commit suicide while participating in drug trials. The trials were commissioned by that CEO and his company.

I honestly view this episode as a spiritual sequel to Gunshow, in which McCoy prosecuted the gun manufacture company after they wouldn't give him evidence to prosecute the guy who did the shooting against a group of female medical student.

I honestly think the Gunshow case on McCoy's mind when he prosecuted this case, especially when the Company's lawyer tired to exclude evidence because of Trade Secrets, and that really set McCoy off. McCoy really wanted to CEO to go to jail, but ultimately, had to offer a deal to not time serve, but will result in a Civil Action Lawsuit.

Overall, What do you think of the episode?

Do you see Casey Affleck making a comeback?

Question, Do you see Casey Affleck making a comeback doing mainstream films?

I was thinking on Casey Affleck lately and how he has mostly had a low profile since winning an Oscar for Manchester by the Sea. I honestly think it was in large part because of the 2010 allegations that came to light again, and I think Studios have been cautious to cast him.

Since Manchester, he has really done mostly Indie Films that barely gross a Million Dollars, with the exception of Oppenheimer, which was his 1st mainstream film in awhile, and it looks like it him doing only indie films won't change.

I'm just curious if Casey will ever make mainstream film or blockbusters or that he'll just stick to indie films?

Thoughts on Stalker?

Question, What are your thoughts on the Season 8, Stalker?

This is an interesting episode, especially the actions of Briscoe. So in the episode, A Woman is hospitalized after a fall, and she claims she has a stalker named Giovanni. However, the Detectives didn't believe her, especially when its reveal that she could've faked the attack attempt. Unfortunately, The Woman was stabbed to death, and thought they found who was called "Giovanni", the case was weak and evidence was thrown out, until Briscoe decided that, in his opinion, she didn't faked the attack, and the evidence was brought back in and the guy was convicted.

This Episode is such a great episode and a very gray area episode. It also feel it showed a side of Lennie that we haven't seen at this point. He tries to right the wrong of not believing the woman. However, he does so in a gray area by changing the story on what happen, or in his own terms, a "Reinterpretation of Events". McCoy decides to go with it, but Briscoe's reversal causes Van Buren and Curtis to be Furious, and Curtis had to be discredited by McCoy when it was clear he wouldn't change his story.

Ultimately, I love this episode and it makes you wonder if The Police and Prosecutions were actually right with this case.

Do you think McCoy was right to withhold evidence in Competence?

I'm revisiting Law & Order again, and I was thinking about the episode, Competence and I'm just curious with McCoy's actions with the episode.

In the episode, McCoy decided he was going to withheld a statement that would help the defense, reasoning that he is not compelled to, which gets him into hot water with Schiff, The Defendant's Lawyer, & The Disciplinary Hearing on the matter.

In my opinion, I thought McCoy pulled a fast one, like he was still a Lawyer Student, and that he thought he was clever in doing so, in order to not affect his case, and I think he got rightfully called out by everyone, Schiff, The Judge, who essentially told him he wasn't that clever, and the evidence was allowed in.

Do you think they'll released his unmade scripts to the public?

Question, Do you think they'll released his unmade scripts to the public?

His scripts for Unrecorded Night, Dream of the Bovine, Snootworld, Venus Descending, Antelope Don't Run No More, The Metamorphosis, Woodcutters from Fiery Ships.

I really want to know that Lynch had plan for his unmade final project that he was going to do for Netflix before Netflix canned it. It just pains me that Lynch never got to make it.

I'm also curious with his other unmade script, like Venus Descending (Which was basically about Marilyn Monroe), Snootworld (Apparently his Harry Potter), Dream of the Bovine (A Project he wanted Marlon Brando to star), and the others mentioned above.

All in All, Do you think they'll released his unmade scripts to the public?

Do you think the Young Avengers will be in Secret Wars?

Question, Do you honestly think the Young Avengers will be in Secret Wars?

I ask because I've read rumors that The Young Avengers will be the focus on Secret Wars with a few advisors and mutants that will go against Doom, but I'm trying to figure out how the logic on how that will happen.

  1. Doomsday Trailer has finally been released, and it doesn't seem like they are focusing on the new characters (and no, I don't think they're hiding them, if Marvel wanted to announce them, they would've announce them).

  2. I remember reading about the rumors on The Kang Dynasty and from what I read, The Young Avengers would've had a bigger role in that film as well as Secret Wars but after Majors was fired and Downey Jr was hired, it looks their role was reduced, but yet that are still are going to have a bigger role in Secret Wars.

  3. Everything I seen from Marvel recently is that they are in Panic Mode. The reconfigured The Kang Dynasty into Doomsday. They brought back Robert Downey Jr, they brought back Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, they brought in the Old School X-Men. So you're telling me Feige master plan for Secret Wars is to let the new characters take over then their recent decisions doesn't correlate with it, Okay.

For the record, I would be interested in a Young Avengers film, but I think Feige waited too long and now I don't think The General Public remember the characters and logically, It doesn't make sense for Feige to introduce them in Secret Wars, given their decisions on Doomsday.

I could be wrong about my conclusions, but what do you think

Matt Dillon Turned Down Roles

Roles Matt Dillon turned down or was considered

1980: The Blue Lagoon (Role: Michael Reynolds) (Actor who got it: Christopher Atkins) (Reason: He actually won the role after beating out hundreds of boys, but turned it down due to the Nudity)

1980: Dressed To Kill (Role: Peter Miller) (Actor who got it: Keith Gordon) (Reason: He was in contention for the role)

1989: Do The Right Thing (Role: Pino) (Actor who got it: Jon Turturro) (Reason: Matt was approached for the role, but turned it down on the advice of his agent)

1990: The Godfather: Part III (Role: Vincent Mancini) (Actor who got it: Andy Garcia) (Reason: Dillon was considered and screen tested for the role of Vincent)

1991: JFK (Role: Willie O’Keefe) (Actor who got it: Kevin Bacon) (Reason: He was considered for the role)

1994: Pulp Fiction (Role: Vincent Vega/Butch Coolidge) (Actor who got it: John Travolta/Bruce Willis) (Reason: Tarantino very much wanted Matt Dillon to play Butch Coolidge and was confident that he would take the role. However, Matt was sure on taking the role, and apparently he wanted to play Vincent instead. After going nowhere with Matt, Tarantino decided to cast someone else)

2000: Miss Congeniality (Role: Eric Matthews) (Actor who got it: Benjamin Bratt) (Reason: Matt Dillon came close on getting the part, but instead the Producers went with Benjamin Bratt)

2001: Novocaine (Role: Frank Sangster) (Actor who got it: Steve Martin) (Reason: He was the 1st choice for the role, but he turned it down)

2008: Cadillac Records (Role: Leonard Glass) (Actor who got it: Adrien Brody) (Reason: Matt was up for the role but had to leave due to Scheduling Conflicts)

2009: Tetro (Role: Tetro) (Actor who got it: Vincent Gallo) (Reason: Dillon was Coppola's 2st choice for the role, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts)

2024: Megalopolis (Role: Anton Smith) (Actor who got it: No One) (Reason: Back when Coppola was trying to get Megalopolis off the ground. Matt Dillon was offered the role of a West Point Cadet who goes AWOL during the filming of Rumble Fish (1983))

I love Matt Dillon as an actor and I think he is a very underrated actor in my opinion who shines in any film he is in. However, I do wish that Matt Dillon was in more mainstream films or films in general, but I do know from interviews that he really didn’t like the glamour of Hollywood, so I can respect him for that.

“I remember sometimes thinking people thought of me this way or that. But I did not want to be considered a star. I always just wanted to be considered an actor.”- Matt Dillon

Of the films mentioned above, I think he made a big mistake on passing Pulp Fiction and I think he would’ve been great in the film as either Vincent or Butch. I also think, if he got the job for Godfather, he would’ve been good as well.
