Why wasn't Rigby fired at the end of Temp Check?

Why wasn't Rigby fired at Temp Check?

I know the real reason is that the show would never allow Rigby to get fired. But in Temp Check, he was a real ass, also hiring someone to do his job and pay him the shaves of his paycheck and it's miracle that he didn't lose the respect of everyone near the end of the episode.

Todd Field's unrealized projects

Here are Todd Field's unrealized projects.

Revolutionary Road- In 2002, Todd Field sought to direct an adaptation of the novel, Revolutionary Road as a follow up to his film, In The Bedroom. At the time, the rights for the book were held by Patrick O’Neale’s estate. O’Neale’s widow agreed to give Field permission under the condition that he shoot from her husband's script. Field, who wanted to write it himself, respectfully declined. Ultimately, an adaptation of the novel was made in 2008 with Sam Mendes directing and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Time Between Trains- In July 2003, DreamWorks Pictures optioned the rights to Gene Smith’s non-fiction novel, American Gothic with Todd Field directing and Scott Smith writing the script. The Film was to be about Edwin Booth, the brother of Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth.

Field himself spent more than a year doing research for Time Between Trains. Speaking to Los Angeles Times in 2007, Todd Field stated that the film would’ve spanned 5 decades and 5 major cities, recreated in meticulous detail, requiring a massive budget. Despite a rumored production start in 2004, the film was ultimately cancelled because Michael DeLuca left DreamWorks and new leadership did not want to finance an expensive period epic. “How can you get someone to put $50 million-$80 million on a movie that has no explosions?" Field told The Hollywood Reporter. "I can't argue with that. It was partly my own naivete saying, I can make whatever I want to make."

Back Roads- In October 2003, it was reported by Variety that Field was developing to direct an Adaptation of Back Roads by Tawni O’Dell. Ethan Gross and Paul Todisco were on board as screenwriters. Field was determined to direct the project by 2004, and was considering it as one of six possibilities to be his next film at the time.

Scripted by H.G Bissinger, the project is believed to have been adapted from Bissenger's 2001 Vanity Fair article "A Darker Shade of Rose".

Eastside Westside- Another Field project in development at Standard Film Company that year was a script called Eastside Westside by What Maisie Knew screenwriters Nancy Doyne and Carroll Cartwright. In addition to directing, Field was to have produced alongside William Teitler and Charles Weinstock.

For God and Country- During the awards season for 2006's Little Children, Field told Variety that his next movie would be "an original script, but I really don't know what it's about yet because I haven't finished writing it. ”The following year, it was reported that Media Rights Capitol was repping "the next, currently untitled film" to be written and directed by Field. Its title was later revealed as For God and Country, about military recruiter, which both Leonardo Di Caprio and Christian Bale passed on He was scheduled to start prep on the film the day after his youngest son was born, in March 2008, but he ultimately decided not to make it in order to stay closer to home

Blood Meridian- In 2008, Field was attached to adapt & direct Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy for Scott Rudin.  A passion project for Field, he worked on the adaptation for over two years before moving on to other projects.

In 2011, Los Angeles Times reported was Field was set to direct the film and that Leonardo DiCaprio was offered one of the lead roles, which was turned down by Brad Pitt. In 2012, Cross Creek Pictures was set to produce and finance the picture and filming set to commence in 2013. In August of the same year, Christian Bale was set to star in the film. However, filming did not happen and it would be until 2019 when the project was again reported with Daniel Craig attached to star and Edward Zwick directing. However, the film was shelved due to COVID-19.

Hubris- In 2010, Deadline Hollywood reported that Todd Field was set to direct Hubris. he project was later reported the following year to be a true-crime gangster revenge film based on a 2007 Playboy article titled "Boosting the Big Tuna" about the infamous murders of the men who burglarized Chicago mafia boss Tony Accardo's house in the late 1970s.

The White Tiger- It was reported that, in June 2012, Field had worked on an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s novel, The White Tiger, but couldn't get it off the ground due to a legal battle with the film's India-based financier over whether or not he could make the film he wanted or if one of the backers had the right to reject the script.

As It Happens- On August 11, 2012, Field was reported to be co-writing a script called As It Happens with Joan Didion, described as a political thriller.  "She kept regular hours, and there was a certain hour where pencils were down," Field later noted of working with Didion. Jennifer Fox was set to produce, and Field had met with Cate Blanchett for the lead role. However, no studio offered a worthwhile budget because the protagonist was a woman.

Beautiful Ruins- In April 2013, Field's Standard Film Company, Cross Creek Pictures and Smuggler Films were announced to be teaming up to finance a film adaptation of Jess Walter's novel Beautiful Ruins, for Field to direct. Walter was confirmed to be co-writing the adaptation with Field. In November of that year, it was announced Imogen Poots was attached to star, with filming scheduled to begin in Italy in May 2014. However, the film never materialized.

Purity TV Miniseries- In 2016, Field worked on a planned television adaptation of the 2015 Jonathon Frazen novel, Purity, which was to be a 20-hour limited series for Showtime The series was to be co-written by Field, Franzen and playwright David Hare. It would have starred Daniel Craig as the lead and been executive produced by Field, Franzen, Craig, Hare and Scott Rudin In 2016 Franzen said on The Diane Rehm Show that he was learning the art of adaptation from Field, whom he considered a "master" of the form. But in a February 2018 interview with The Times, Hare said that, given the budget for the adaptation ($170 million), he doubted it would ever be made. "It was one of the richest and most interesting six weeks of my life, sitting in a room with Todd Field, Jonathan Franzen and Daniel Craig bashing out the story. They're extremely interesting people", Hare added "We wrote 2,000 pages for that series," Field told The New York Times in 2022. "What we were proposing to them was, 'Use this as a way to go through the door that is inevitable for you, into a streaming service. You need to do something that's big and has some sweep to it.' But yes, it was large and ambitious, and they didn't ultimately have the belly for it.

The Devil In The White City TV Miniseries- In January 2022, it was revealed that Field would direct the first two episodes of Hulu's miniseries adaptation of The Devil In The White City starring Keanu Reeves, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese signed on to executive produce. Production and filming were expected to begin March 2023 in Chicago and Toronto, with the series set to launch on the streaming platform sometime in 2024. However, following Reeves departure in October of that year, Field left shortly thereafter.

Untitled Adam Sandler Project- In September 2022, on Variety's Awards Circuit podcast, Field's long-time friend Adam Sandler teased that the two were discussing a potential collaboration. In December, during an episode of Happy Sad Confused, Sandler said that Field had an idea for a film that he would star in, but added that he did not know what would come of it. "Until you shoot it, you never know, but we're excited to do this cool movie together." In January 2023, Field confirmed that they were indeed planning a new film. While he remained secretive about the details or tone of the project, Field praised Sandler's performance in Punch Drunk Love and pointed to it as an example of his dramatic range. "There's no one like him. I hope we end up working together; I really do. [...] We've been talking about some things; it's too early [to say].

Untitled Maine-set Film- In March 2023, Field was revealed to be in progress on an original script for a planned film that he wanted to set in his home state of Maine but remained skeptical as to if he would be allowed by financiers to shoot there.

Home, Jack, and Gilead- According to Martin Scorsese, Field had assisted him in writing an adaptation of Marilynne Robinson's acclaimed novel Home, for Scorsese to direct. They finished a draft of the script with Kent Jones before the2023 Writers Guild of America Strike. In October 2023, Scorsese reported that they planned to turn Robinson's Jack into a screenplay and that, additionally, Field was eyeing to adapt Gilead as his next film. In March 2025, it was announced that he would be adapting Robinson's book for Apple TV+ with Leonardo DiCaprio starring.

In my opinion, I think Todd Field is a criminally underrated director, and his films are very great dramas. But I feel it is a shame that he has only directed 3 films and judging by all the projects he tried to do, he has gotten the short end of the stick. Of the projects I mentioned above, I think Time Between Trains and Creed of Violence would’ve been interesting and I hope Todd Field gets to make Gilead.

Regardless, What projects do you wish Todd Field made?

Is there any update on The Magnificent Ambersons search?

Question, Is there any update on The Magnificent Ambersons search?

Back in 2021, Joshua Grossberg embarked on a search to find the original cut of The Magnificent Ambersons because Allegedly when Orson Welles was in Brazil shooting It's All True, he received a full print of The Magnificent Ambersons for him to edit. So far, the print hasn't surface and many feel it was destroyed, but many think it has survived and was potentially sold to a private collector.

When I heard Grossberg was leading a search for the footage after 2021, my reaction was, "Good Luck". I think Magnificent Amberson is an interesting film by Orson Welles and even in its compromised state, I still think its a masterpiece. Anyway, on Grossberg's search, I think the last time he did an update was in 2024, where he was still chasing leads and possibly found a person who claim to have saw the original cut in the 60s. But that's it, so I was wondering if there were any updates since then.

thoughts on The Lost Tapes animation

Finally watching the 1st few episodes on The Lost Tapes and I really enjoyed them. From the looks of it, it looks like the new series is going to take place between any season from Season 1 to 7 and show adventures that weren't seen, hence the title.

If I have 1 complaint, it is probably the animation. Watching the new episodes, I just feel that there is a downgrade in the Animation, it feels more Flash Animation and the characters look a little different than Season 6 through 8 and its not as fluid. Mortdecai and Rigby actually look more like their early animation, but I think Benson is a little off in his movements. I just think the animation just looks off.

Regardless, I'm glad Regular Show is back and will continue watching.

Thoughts on Greed (1924)?

Question, What are your thoughts on Greed?

In my opinion, it is Erich von Stroheim's magnum opus and also his folly. It truly is a magnificent film and I admired what Stroheim was trying to accomplish with the film, but I also think what makes this his folly is the behind the scenes stories behind it.

Essentially, von Stroheim shot the film entirely on location and shot around 85 hours of footage and then he originally intended the film to last around 9 Hours. However, Irving Thalberg forced von Stroheim to edit the film to 4 Hours, then was edited against von Stroheim's wishes to around 2.5 hours long. Von Stroheim later called Greed his most fully realized work and was hurt both professionally and personally by the studio's re-editing of it. As such, the film was a financial failure upon release, but the film started to gain an audience and now many feel it is the greatest film ever made.

The uncut film has become a source a legend and a holy grail for many film archivists and many have attempted to find the film to no avail and many claims as to what happen to the film persist. I think there is a chance that the 4 hour version still exists, but I don't think the 9 hours version exists anymore, but I hope and pray that the original version will be found, but there is a slim chance.

Overall, What are your thoughts on Greed?

Do you think a longer version of Greed still exists?

Question, What are your thoughts on The Truman Show?

I just watch The Truman Show and it is still a great film. Peter Weir, who is very underrated in my opinion, did a great job directing the film and Andrew Niccol did a good job with the script.

Jim Carrey as great as Truman, and I think it's criminal that he didn't get an Academy Award for this performance. He gives a lot of pathos to the role and you resonate on Truman wanting to escape Seahaven. I have 2 things on Truman, 1. I think Truman had some understanding that the word he is in is fake and that we are bearing witness to end result of that in the film and 2. I find it interesting that of all things, Truman wanted to be an explorer, and I think that's his subconscious deep down defying the fakeness of the world Truman is in.

Ed Harris is also great as Christof, the man who is the creator of The Truman Show. He thinks himself as a God and believes he has made a world that is better than the real world and views Truman as his masterpiece. I know this is probably not true, but I have a head cannon that Christof is Truman's actual father. Ed Harris did a great job, but I wonder how Dennis Hopper would've done in the role as he was originally cast in the role.

As mentioned above, Peter Weir does a great job directing the film, and one thing I liked what he did with the film is that he managed to balance out the dark moments and the light moments in the film and had a hand with refining the script to make it a more nuance and emotional story.

Overall, I still love this film

I’ve been thinking about Warren Beatty lately and I watched some of his films, (Dick Tracy, Bulworth) and it still boggles me at how short his filmography is, only 23 films throughout his entire career and sometimes it would takes years before he did his next project and his career essentially ending in 2001 with Town & Country, a big box office bomb. (I know he did Rules Don't Apply 15 years after Town & Country, but that feels like a outlier)

Don’t get me wrong, I think Warren Beatty is a great, and I’m impressed that he can Act, Direct, Produced, and Write his own films and be successful with it, but I must admit, I feel his career is missing something and I feel he needed to have a few more films to be considered truly one of the greats or just act in a few more films. I do know that he turned down a lot of films and had a lot of unrealized projects that he wanted to do but couldn’t. I think part of why he did so little was that Warren was a perfectionist and that he needed to be involved in everything and probably didn’t trust anyone but himself in creative decisions and had to be the star. Warren Beatty is still great, but I wish he did more.

I know I have been talking a lot on Warren Beatty lately, but I’ve been on a binge on his films lately, and now I’m talking about Ishtar and who i think went wrong with this production.

Ishtar revolves around Chuck Clarke and Lyle Rogers, a duo of talentless American songwriters who travel to a booking in Morocco and stumble into a four-party Cold War standoff. What’s notable about this film is basically the production difficulties behind the film, the clashes between Warren Beatty, Elaine May, and Vittorio Storaro and upon release, the film was critically reviled and was a box office bomb

I notice that in recent years, people started to turn around with this film, and many feel that the film isn’t that bad. Me personally, I don’t think its the worse film of all time, but it’s also not good, I feel a lot of the scenes fall flat and I think it was a mistake for Beatty and Hoffman to be cast against type, but there is come charm to the film

Now, What I feel went wrong with Ishtar is the fact that, Ishtar should’ve been a epic, not a Bob Hope/Bing Crosby type comedy. the film should've been much grander in scope than what it is as title like Ishtar just screams Epic. It also doesn’t help that they filmed in the deserts of Morocco, when you do a Bing Crosby/Bob Hope comedy, you filmed in the backlots of LA, you don’t go to Morocco and waste a lot of money, otherwise, a lot of people would think you are making some kind of grand epic or adventure film. Also no offense to Elaine May, but I think she was the wrong director and little out of her depth for this film, and from what I read, both her and Beatty reached that conclusion as Beatty wanted to go more grander with the film. This is my Opinion

Regardless, What do you think went wrong with Ishtar?

Do you wish Warren Beatty did more films?

Question, Is there Any Bande Dessinee you wish were adapted into films?

Me, personally, I really wish they adapt some of Moebius's work (The Incal, The Airtight Garage). They have probably the most outstanding artwork I have seen, and I think it would be interesting to be Moebius work on screen. I wish Moebus got hired for more productions in film.

Regardless, Are there other any Bande Dessinee Comics that you wish would be adapted into films?
