Ninjitsu > MMA

Hands down. Not even close.

Reasons:

  1. You can't see us; we can see you. You can't hit what you can't see ;)

  2. We have weapons. You guys only wear tight shorts

  3. Ninja outfits were created to make us harder to dox online

  4. We can make you involuntarily shit your pants before the fight starts

  5. There's no movies or video games about MMA guys going on an adventure. There's no "MMA Gaiden"

  6. MMA isn't even real. It's just stolen from other martial arts

Respectfully, leftist Cubans - how do you do it?

I consider you all somewhat of my extended family. This goes for any time I hear a Cuban accent in public.

This question is for leftist or left-leaning Cubans and is not in any way a challenge or criticism. Please, let's be civil and loving.

I feel that many of us, especially in the US, have to live between two worlds: knowing que hijo de puta fue Fidel, but also, maybe not agreeing 100% with the Republican Party, which seems to be the political group which has most supported us.

I believe in, for example, banning factory farms, having more environmental regulations, and better social programs, but every time I go to a community where these things are preached, I am apprehensive of meeting some pro-Fidel or pro-Chavez/Maduro person.

EDIT: This post is aimed at Cubans or people with at least one Cuban parent who also considers themselves left-leaning (while, hopefully, not supporting the Cuban regime.)

What turned me away from the Green Party (as a Cuban)

I voted for Jill at least once. I'm also a vegan, environmentalist, believe factory farms should be banned and that we should re-enter the Paris Climate Agreement. I've done lots of environmentalist and pro-immigrant work throughout my life.

I thought the focus of the Green Party was supposed to be environmentalism and fighting any economic systems that hurt the environment (and I presume, animals.)

Why do Green Party candidates admire Fidel Castro? As a person with a Cuban parent and family that still lives in Cuba, this hurt.

We shouldn't praise just anyone who claims they are a leftist. We shouldn't "admire" the greedy and violent.

What is the Jain view on abortion?

I imagine it is generally pro-life, but I am asking to be sure.

It seems to me that Jainism is the religion that takes ahimsa most seriously.

On another note, is veganism common in Jainism? I have read that some Jains consume milk. Thank you.

Is the Picotracker stable?

I originally wanted a Polyend Tracker, but there's too many reports of it being buggy.

The M8 is pricy.

Is the Picotracker buggy? Any other key points anyone wants to make about it? I'm coming from Renoise.

Hardware tracker closest to Renoise

I'm trying to transition into living without a computer because I have no self control and I keep wasting time on it. I understand that the M8 and the Polyend Tracker Are the main devices in this market . Which one would you say is closest to our beloved favorite DAW?

Non-Muslim who appreciates Islam

Honestly, out of every religion, I believe that Islam is the one that takes the commandment about not having false idols the most serious.

I know of no other religion that avoids Idloltry to the extent that Islam does.

The second greatest lesson I have learned from your religion is that of submission to God - so thank you.

I am not sure what to do. I've never been through this. These are my notes from what the vet told me after bloodwork and x-rays. Sorry they are all over the place.

He is a 13 year old schnauzer yorky mix

chronic renal insufficiencies, anemia

x-rays: major concern (according to vet): missing pieces of mandible and maxula (upper jaw), believes surgeons would have a hard time piecing him back together, fractured teeth, says maxula seems almost detached from hard palette on right side, vet says major dental extractions would be needed to prevent infection, believes surgery would be complicated. my dog is about 13 years old. schnauzer yorky mix. vet fears there'll be not enough bony structure for surgery. shes afraid he may not be able to eat. concerned he may need a feeding tube for 6 weeks. no skull fractured. frontal sinus looks okay. front half of both jaws are liddick. believes surgery would be challenging for surgeon

vet says that surgeon will most likely need to drill holes in front half of upper jaw and put tubes through nostrils. dental disease will most likely create fistula problems which could lead to infect

I know very little about Jainism.

What is the belief of when one eats something that was alive (ex. tofu)? Did the soybeans/tofu have a jiva? If so, does its jiva merge with ours?

Thank you.

I'm sure I'm not the first to have come up with this, but I recently realized it.

Food becomes us, including our brains. Meaning: what we eat becomes conscious.

In my opinion, this is a good reason to be vegan as to not consume suffering, but also, it proves non-duality.

Today, I started seeing my food as "future me".

Apparently, there's a lot of us.

I'll admit, I've been on/off vegetarian for years and only recently started committing to veganism (after learning more about building vegan meals + learning about the dairy and egg industries.)

Do we have communities?

Are you like me: driven by as much ahimsa (non-violence) as possible?

I consider myself pro-life because I believe abortion should be avoided as much as possible - permissible only in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is in danger. Even in these cases, it should be contained to the 1st trimester.

The left's idea that those who fled Cuba and are against the regime are all/mostly "former plantation owners" falls apart easily with simple math and logic.

How old would you imagine someone to be who owned a plantation pre-1959 to be?

It makes much more sense, logically, to assume that the majority of Cuban-born people in the diaspora left from the 80s onwards.

If you speak with these people, they will tell you about the numerous human rights abuses that continued, the attacks on the LGBT community (which the left excuses because "Fidel apologized" lol), or how el pueblo was forced to publicly mourn Fidel.

My right shoulder is in pain from having landed on it during many times. This doesn't happen with every tori, but either I got unlucky or I need to better my ukemi (I made a recent post on this.)

Anyways, I figured I should take a break from judo and was wondering what beneficial activities I could take part in.

I've been considering:

Tai Sabaki

Yoga

Running (my endurance had been lacking)

Sumo (not sure if this would damage my shoulder even more)

Just showing up to my gym's open mat to only work on Ukemi (and possibly, throwing lefty)

Let me know if you have any thoughts or additional suggestions. Thank you.

Judaism - good actions (mitzvahs) are what count. Also, we should work to repair the world (tikkam olam.) Don't disrespect an animal by cooking it in its mother's milk (no meat + cheese.)

Islam - In my opinion, this is the best religion at not having false idols. No idoltry. No images of God or Muhammad. Fully submit to God.

Christianity - I'm mostly familiar with Catholicism. Taking the body of Christ feels good. It fosters compassion in me. Love thy neighbor as you'd love yourself. Give each other a sign of peace.

Buddhism - Be analytical. Do you have right thought? Also, we are ever-changing (I don't like this part, but it's true.)

Hinduism (specifically Advaita Vedanta) - we are all one. We are made of the same matter. You are me and I am you. I am also the table I am sitting at. Also, Ahimsa (non-violence.)

Taoism - the way that can be named is not the way. Also, I interpret being like water because it travels in lowly places as meaning to be humble

There may not be a way to tell without video, but I don't always land on my shoulder.

Also, I have been training judo for 2 years (with 3 years of BJJ in childhood.) I am a grown adult.

I don't land on my shoulder. Only with some Toris. My shoulder hurts and I chose to not attend class today because of this.

Is the issue usually that Tori doesn't rotate Uke enough or is there also something Uke can do in order to not land directly on the shoulder?

Also, I find that, ocassionally, the timing of my breakfall slap is off. The slap should be a split moment after landing, no?

I'm probably going to take a rest until the pain goes away. In the meantime, I'll just be practicing Tai Sabaki and ukemi.

It would be interesting to see more fights from "pure" (1 style) martial artists.

MMA would, of course, not be allowed.

Are there any promotions that currently do such a thing? Perhaps, fighters can be strip searched for other styles.
