It's about telling a story and delivering the lines with just the right amount of humour, passion or feeling and sometimes, even with a touch of the theatrical to add to the spectacle - but mostly, it is just about getting up and having a go.

The City of Busselton is inviting residents, businesses and visitors to help shape the future of the Busselton City Centre and foreshore precinct, with community consultation opening on Monday 14 September 2026. 

"I encourage the community to help shape a shared vision before any formal plans are developed. This is a chance for people to share what they value most about the Busselton City Centre and what they would like to see in the future." Acting Mayor Cox said. 

Over the next 12 to 18 months, there will be several opportunities for the community to get involved and share ideas. The feedback received during this initial consultation will help guide the next stages of planning and design. 

Consultation closes at 5.00pm on Sunday 25 October 2026. 

Community members who complete the survey can also go into the draw to win one of two $100 Buy Local vouchers to spend at a Busselton City Centre business of their choice.

Parvovirus has been reported in the Bunbury area. It spreads easily between dogs, and it hits puppies and unvaccinated dogs hardest.

We know your dog is family, so please:

Check your dog's vaccinations are up to date

Keep puppies home until they have had all their vaccinations

Always clean up after your dog

Keep your dog at home if it seems unwell

If your dog is vomiting, has diarrhoea, goes off its food, or seems flat, ring your vet straight away. Phone ahead rather than walking into the waiting room – it helps protect the other dogs there too.

The City of Bunbury will provide more than $250,000 in funding to event organisers as part of the first round of its 2026-27 Grant Program, supporting 26 community events and initiatives that will create opportunities for people to connect and celebrate.

Funding has been distributed across the City's Active Places, Community Connect and Signature Events grant categories, supporting a diverse calendar of activities over the next 12 months.

The successful recipients include returning community favourites such as the Bunbury Fringe, Tree Street Arts Safari, Lost and Found Festival, 3 Waters Running Festival, South West Japan Festival, and Bunbury PrideFEST alongside several new initiatives including Bunvegas Music Festival, Geographe Uncorked and Meet You @ Maidens Hip Hop Picnic.

Among the new events, Bunvegas Music Festival is proposed as a full-day music event featuring headline performers, a stage dedicated to emerging South West artists, food and market activations showcasing local businesses, and supporting activities designed to encourage extended stays in the region.

Bunbury is set to get five new community batteries, part of a Western Power rollout backed by federal funding through ARENA.

Four of the batteries will be installed at the South West Sports Centre in Withers, with a fifth on Mosedale Avenue in Usher. All five are due to be up and running by the end of 2026.

The batteries work by storing surplus solar power generated during the day and feeding it back into the network in the evening, when demand is highest. Because it's a shared community asset, the benefits extend beyond solar households to the wider network, helping ease pressure at peak times and reducing the need for costly infrastructure upgrades down the track.

Locations were selected by Western Power in consultation with the City, prioritising areas with strong rooftop solar uptake and growing demand on local infrastructure.

Boogie Down South is one of Australia’s premier celebrations of swing music and dance.

Celebrating its 10th year, Boogie Down South invites audiences to enjoy performances from some of Western Australia’s finest jazz and rhythm bands.

Alongside the music are spectacular dance performances by some of Australia’s leading swing dancers and internationally renowned guest instructors.

On Friday, 25 September, Adrian Hix & His Rhythm Six will play while dancers from Brisbane & Melbourne perform for audiences, who will enjoy a bird’s eye view of the swing and jazz show from level 2.

On Saturday, 26 September, Oz Big Band will play while experienced dancers from Perth perform for audiences, who will enjoy a bird's eye view of the swing and jazz show from level 2.

On Sunday, 27 September, Adam Hall and The Velvet Playboys will play while dance performances will include international guest dance instructors, Tyderic Hill (USA), Kanini Kiiru (Croatia), Viktor Lillard (USA), Vissliki Papadopoulou (Greece), Tim Christopher (USA) and Claudia Fonte (Spain)
