Calories in this big bowl of spicy lamb ramen in mushroom broth with egg?
Hi everyone,
I had about 1/3 of this bowl of ramen with half the egg. Can someone estimate the cals? Here are the ingredients they list on their website:
SPICY LAMB RAMEN
mushroom broth, spicy lamb, leeks, greens, chili oil
Let me know, thank you!
This tier thing is super confusing
So I’m confused about this Tier thing. Before, they used to take 20%, which is annoying but that’s fine. But now, they’re taking 30% and their descriptions don’t even make sense? Am I not looking at this right? I’m receiving about $469 on a $640 booking, so Rover is taking about 27%. It says Tier 2 I should earn 85%, I’m clearly in Tier 2 if the booking is above $499 (what Tier 1 is capped at). So if Tier 1 says up to $499, shouldn’t my booking of $640 be in Tier 2? Then why are they taking 27% and giving me 73% of earnings, instead of taking 15% and giving me 85% of earnings? It’s a bit confusing and it seems they’re just trying to get more from the sitters with a “super new and snazzy Tier style” marketing agenda.
My favourite meals (and how I lost 15 lbs in 2 months)
Hey everyone,
People here talk about how it’s hard to lose weight with snacks, but that’s exactly how I’ve been losing weight. I lost 15 lbs in 2 months which is a lot for me (I’m 5’0 and was 134 lbs, I was stuck and couldn’t lose weight no matter what I did). Anyway, here’s what changed. I bought a LOT of low cal snacks, cut carbs out by substituting things with cauliflower rice, zucchini noodles, etc, but still have some carbs here and there for energy like rice puddings and some sweet lattes. I’ve been making ground turkey, zucchini, eggplant, squash and spinach bolognese with zucchini noodles and it’s to die for and max 300 cals per serving. I also got LOTS of snacks, some of which I will list here, but my favourite are seaweed (25 cals per pack), veggie straws (17 straws are 60 cals), crispy minis (9 rice cakes for 60-70 cals, chocolate and apple cinnamon are my favourite), nano fruit yogurt pops are sooo good and 45 cals per pop, jello chocolate pudding cups no sugar added (60 cals per cup), rice pudding no sugar added (90 cals per cup), and my absolute favourite are Halotop ice cream pints (they’re 327 cals for a WHOLE PINT and 130 cals per serving, 3/4 cup), it’s crazy, my favourite is their Peanut butter flavour, it tastes very creamy and exactly like ice cream.
I also buy these chicken and turkey sausages that are huge and extremely delicious and juicy, 130 cals for 26 G protein (chicken), or 110 cals for 20 G protein (turkey). I also sometimes get the Healthy Choice meals if I don’t have time to make lunch but they’re about 210-290 cals per meal, I get their chicken marinara with cauliflower rice and their pesto chicken pasta meals. Anyway, here’s what I ate for lunch: 300 cals total and I was very full and satisfied after that. I just thought I’d share if anyone is interested. I’m always on the lookout for more things and yummy low cal snacks. If you have more suggestions, let me know.

Italian Centre 8 inch pizza cals?
Hey everyone,
I’m just trying to figure out how much these pizzas would be, I could roll it and thin it out (I like a thin crust anyway). But we got these frozen pizza doughs that rolls out to 8 inch pizzas. We have toppings like cooked mushrooms, cooked chicken breast, turkey pepperoni, raw spinach, green peppers, tomatoes, pineapples, shredded mozzarella and some feta. We’re thinking we’re each going to have one 8 inch pizza but again, I might roll mine out, we also have pizza sauce on them. I can completely skip the cheese if it’s a lot of calories. But how much roughly for that?
Fridges in MRU, like Bissett Building?
Hey everyone, I'm taking the bus from work to MRU and have my leftovers for dinner. I have a 3 hour class and don't want my dinner to be spoiled because it does have meat in it. Does anyone if we have fridges in the business building? Or the main building?
Those who do not make plans with you, or invite you to things, while you're always inviting them, are selfish and should expect that they will lose friends.
I hope this is an unpopular opinion because whoever I talk to disagrees with me on this. As someone who loves close connections and hanging out with friends and planning things, I'm quite annoyed at the constant lack of effort from the other parties who still always love the invites and shows up to things, and expects you to keep inviting them to things, despite them never making a single effort (and no its not like I invite them to 1 or 2 things and then expect that, its more I'm the only one ever reaching out to them). I invited 3 of my "friends" to the lakehouse cabin end of September, with all of them agreeing and being very excited to come, but zero other plans to invite me to anything throughout the summer, or even making an effort to contact me (despite thinking they can still happily come to the lake). And no, I am not talking about friends should be a conditional thing, its more like, maybe reach out and invite your friends to things who are constantly putting in effort, planning, and inviting you? I have lost a friend myself because she would always invite me to things, but I used to always just do my own thing and didn't invite her to anything and she stopped inviting me, and now I understand how beyond frustrating it is after having been the sole planner, organizer, extrovert who is always inviting people who are just taking, taking, and taking, but never even reaching out or planning things or atleast inviting me to anything. I feel these people then get offended or wonder what happened when they aren't invited to things anymore, and you're like?? You could've put in more effort to include me and invite me as well? Thoughts on this?

INFO 3365 (Memetics) with Gilbert Wilkes or WGST 2282 with Celeste Pang, or HIST 3373 (World War 1) with Geoffrey Jackson?
I'm trying to graduate and still need a Tier 3 GNED class, I already took 1 from cluster 2 so need 1 more Tier 3 class from Cluster 1, 3, or 4 for the fall semester. Anyone taken any of these classes? How are they, were they easy to get an A in? Do you recommend any other Tier 3 classes that are super easy? Let me know
Has anyone gotten scholarships with low GPA?
Hi everyone, I unfortunately have a bad GPA due to a surgery I got 2 years ago and almost failed all my classes due to not being able to take the finals (and couldn't get a note), so my GPA is currently sitting at under a 3.0. Since then, I have gradually built it back up. Anyway, I know most scholarships and bursaries look at grades, but I'm curious if there is anything else I can apply to. I'm a Finance major in my 4th year, if that helps. I try to be involved and do trading comps, and similar things, but am not super involved in any other clubs as I also try to work outside of school to make ends meet, but my tuition is still a lot for me to pay, so hoping to apply for some scholarships and bursaries. I am not eligible to get student loans so that's not an option. Please let me know, thank you.
Any recommendations for easy Tier 3 (cluster 1, 3 or 4) GNEDS? Not cluster 2
Yes I know most cluster 2 tier 3 GNEDs are great and easy, I sadly already took one. Does anyone know if there are any good Tier 3 GNEDs (bonus points if available during summer), that are either Cluster 1, 3 or 4? My GPA tanked after a recent class I took so absolutely need close to a 4.0 in my tier 3 GNED. Please let me know, thank you.
What can you opt out of in the fall semester?
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if there's a way to opt out of any of these fees? I have a car, but I'm fine with a UPass, but the $800 student service and SAMRU fee is outrageous. Am I able to opt out of any of those? I can try to opt out of the health and insurance, I do work full time but as a contractor, so I don't think I have any benefits through my work so I can just keep it but if I get a cheaper health and dental plan, I'll use that. Let me know, thanks!
Rover seems so unreliable
Hi everyone, I have decided to try Rover about 2 years ago. I did boarding, house sitting, drop ins, walks and all that, I was also available all day. I used to get mostly boarding requests and had to stop that due to dogs destroying my house and got some housesitting requests after that. Every single review I got were always positive and 5 stars. All of a sudden (algorithm), I stopped getting requests. Thank god I didn't rely on that app and quickly thought about getting a job after because wow, I did not get a single request in 2 years. This app is crazy, and not to mention, I have everything except boarding on there. I live in a very busy city where almost everyone has pets, and my rates aren't super high. Given the fact that Rover charges for background checks and takes 20% of your earnings, the least they can do is make your profile more visible or give you jobs. I wonder how many people actually relied on this to make income and got completely ghosted and got no jobs for 2 years. Rover feels like they're just taking money from us. Does anyone else feel this way or haven't gotten jobs in years from Rover? How do you deal with it? Also, yes I literally refresh my calendar daily.
Insurance for those who got cancelled for nonpayment?
Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if its possible to get insurance after you have been cancelled twice for nonpayment. I don't have any speeding tickets, have never been pulled over. Anyway, the reason I was cancelled for nonpayment was that TD wanted me to pay full year ($3500) at once and I couldn't, because I was a student who had to pay tuition and rent. However, now I have a full time job and can happily pay, and they are DENYING me insurance and saying I'm too high risk because I got cancelled twice for nonpayment? It doesn't make sense as I was a student with no help from parents ever. I'm just curious because it is legally required by law to have insurance on your car, and people get into way worse accidents, for them to deny insurance to a previous student who got cancelled twice for nonpayment but now has a well paying, full time job. Does anyone know how or where I can get insurance from? I need to use my car for lots of things, including commute, work, etc. Please let me know, thank you.
Cengage, Bloomberg Subscriptions
Hello everyone,
I am a student who has been at MRU for the past 2 years (I transferred from Uvic after being there for 3 years), and I am quite shocked at the money hungry ways of MRU. First of all, how are student services and SAMRU fees total to over $800 per semester?? What am I paying for? I barely use student services half the time. Not to mention, after paying for each course, the profs money grab you by making you pay almost $150-200 PER COURSE for cengage, pearson, mcgraw hill, bloomberg, etc for a requirement of your grade like quizzes? Our prof straight up told us our Cengage courses are worth 12% and if we don't pay for the $150 subscription, we get a 0?? I read somewhere that they get commission off it, but this is insane. I didn't think universities are allowed to make students BUY their grades, like that is so awful. Why do we have to pay for our grade when we are already paying for the course? Coming from Uvic, I don't remember signing up for a single one of these sites. I always remember there was a used bookstore and we would all try to get books from there, but at MRU, we must pay $150-200 each course for Cengage for "quizzes" (since they couldn't money grab us by just buying textbooks off Cengage as most students wouldn't do that). But does anyone else find this absurd?? And how are our student and SAMRU fees $800 with no way to opt out?? And why do libraries close at 4 pm on weekends?? I remember everyone studying at Uvic libraries till midnight every weekend and everyday.
- Currently a student struggling badly trying to pay tuition and rent.
Edit: for those asking, these are all the courses that made me pay for Cengage or Bloomberg to get an additional 8% or 10% on the course: FNCE 3228, FNCE 4407, FNCE 4409, and all accounting and Econ courses, and many more but I can't remember all off the top of my head. Also for talking about textbooks, that's not what I'm talking about. I never had to get textbooks at Uvic, and a used one was enough. My issue is the 8-15% class quizzes that if you don't do through their website, it's 0%. These are the websites I'm talking about where you must buy over a $100-200 website subscription to access the quizzes: Pearson, Mcgraw hill, Cengage, Bloomberg, etc.
