I like DLC

I like DLC

Microtech has been knocking it out of the park this year with their releases. I usually only buy one or two a year, I am already at three so far.

The LUDT is my favorite model and the new titanium frames are my favorite iteration so far. I picked up a double stone wash version earlier this year. I managed to find this DLC version on sale of all things so I almost had to buy it. The CF accents are nice too.

The HALO IV was a no brainer, when Microtech sells a HALO you buy a HALO. I was just glad I held out for a DLC version, the apocalyptic DLC is a very nice finish and gives the knife a unique look. Hopefully I am done for the year, this is eating into my gun budget slightly

The DLC Knives’s are always my favorite, it just looks really good and wears very well being generally scratch proof almost. The premium they charge for the finish is 100% worth it in my book.

The Current Line Up

I have been into knives and collecting them for the better part of 15~ years now , I had to thin out the collection a lot about 10 years ago and have recently started aquiring more knives as funds allow. Currently very happy with state of the collection as she sits. I definitely have a type when it comes to knives. I have pretty much always either gravitated towards Microtechs or Striders. Fortunately or unfortunately for me Strider doesn't make nearly as many models as Microtech does.

SOTC - 10 Years

I thought I was finished for a while after picking up my HALO IV, but the recent sale on LUDT's twisted my arm enough to get me to cave on a DLC LUDT.

For whatever reason the LUDT is obviously my favorite Microtech design. It's just fun to play with and feels great in hand. The new titanium framed models are epic and feel like tanks. Very much a fan of the Marfione Select line of knives.

Very happy with how the collection is shaping back up, I have been into Microtech for a long time but only fairly recently got back into collecting them. I was borderline addicted to collecting knives around 10 years ago, sold off a lot of my collection. The "one that I should have kept" was a 1/10 special edition semi-custom Whale Shark with a carbon fiber frame, flamed titanium hardware and lockbar with a apacalyptic finished blade. Oh well, live and learn or something like that I guess.

I think my next knife will be a Scarab, I keep hoping they will do a DLC Executive Scarab but we shall see. If they don't make one in a year or so I will just get a apacalyptic / natural Al finish one like my Gen 3 Ultratech since they look very nice IMHO.

NKD: Microtech LUDT

Picked up a new Marfione Select DLC LUDT with a Titanium Frame. IMHO it's the best LUDT Microtech has ever made. Absolutely superbly made knife , it should make a great user with the DLC finish too.

NKD LUDT Marfione Select

Found this on sale and I could not pass it up, Marfione Select LUDT with a titanium frame, DLC coating and carbon fiber frame inserts. It's an absolutely beautiful knife and pairs well with my other marfione select knives. State of the collection incoming.

I have been into Microtech for 10+ years now and the in the last year they have been putting out some of the coolest knives they have ever made IMHO.

Beware of Blazer 147gr Suppressor Ammo

Blazer must be using a weird slow burning powder for this ammo. When mag dumping or firing in bursts flames will shoot out of your ejection port occasionally.

This is the most severe example I have personally experienced. Total blind luck getting it on film. I work around blast furnaces and knew the gun wasn't unlocking early so since it was on film I finished the magazine.

Even when shooting this ammo in my staccato P I will get bursts of flame out of the ejection port occasionally.

It's cheap but not worth the hastle and flame hazard especially if you are a left handed shooter.

Gun is a H&K SP5, 100LP, B&T reduced back pressure SQD-M Suppressor

Silenced Staccato P

I got into suppressors a couple years ago and well things got out of hand. I liked my Mk23 with a suppressor so much I figured a suppressed 2011 would be pretty awesome. Well I was right, paired with a CAT SC-M it's been totally reliable with Blazer, Winchester, Remington and Federal 147gr ammo. The SC-M is as quiet as Pew Science advertises and even in the K configuration it's still "hearing safe" indoors.

The shooting experience when paired with the RMR HD 1MOA can best be described as surgical. The gun will put the bullet through the same hole every time as long as you do your part as the shooter. It's almost boring how easy it is to shoot. The knife is a Microtech HALO IV DLC

The Offensive Guns

My Beretta 1301 Tactical, fitted with an Chisel Machine folding stock, Holosun 507C, Midwest Indistries Rail, GG&G Aluminum Magazine Tube Cover and Clamp, Surefire Scout Light Mini. I keep it loaded with Federal Flight Control 00 Buckshot at 1145fps in the tube and on the side saddle I have Federal 1oz Tru-Ball slugs at 1300fps, both are incredibly effective rounds.

The handgun is my H&K Mk23 with an ACRO, Surefire X300 Turbo and a B&T Mk23 Suppressor. I keep it loaded with Federal 45 ACP +P HST

Both guns are pretty large and heavy, but they shoot extremely well and are dead ass reliable under all conditions.

Nuka Cola Quantum

So I have been wanting a Nuka Cola bottle to be a bookend for my play station disk collection for a while now and have been patiently waiting for these to be made. Well after 7~ months the Nuka Cola special editions have finally arrived! I picked up two as I am going to use one for decoration in my "game room" and I am putting the other back as a cool collectible. Time to get back to patrolling the Mojave.

The H&K Collection

My Modernized SP5 and Mk23 plus my CCW a CC9. The SP5 and Mk23 are my favorite rifle / pistol respectively. That being said if you want to get a Mk23 know you have to get a suppressor for it too. Totally changes the recoil and shooting experience of the handgun for the better.

321 Day Wait Time; 100% Worth It

My Milt Sparks (MS) order arrived today!! I ordered two Versa-Max 2 (VM-2) IWB holsters from MS on 9-3-2025 and my order finally arrived today. Both holsters I had trimmed in shark since these will last decades as long as I take care of them. Shark works really well especially for the loops as it takes abrasion better than horse or cow hide IMHO.

The VM-2 is my favorite holster by a lot and no I am not a boomer , not even close. I had them add the "Badger Stamp" double paw prints to show it was inspected for quality by Badger the MS shop dog. Each holster is 100% made by hand in Idaho and their order times have always been this long. They pretty much unequivocally make the best leather holsters on god's green earth IMHO.

Boots are Luchesse Haan Ridgeback Caiman Crocodile. I like nice leether , what can I say. Currently have the staccato double bagged to break the holster in. The CC9 only needed one bag. Going to start seriously breaking them in on my belt tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone!!!

Sometimes the old ways are best

Springfield Armory MC Operator that I have had heavily worker over. Riding in a shark trimmed Milt Sparks 55BN. I need to have a threaded barrel and a RMR cut put on the gun next. Just debating a bull barrel conversion for the threaded barrel

Took The Murph to The Odyssey

This is my Murph I picked up when they first came out and they came in "The Tesseract" Box. It's the pride and joy of my "watch collection" for sure and I love this watch.

Anyways, whenever there is a new Christopher Nolan movie comming out I always wear my Murph to the movie. Just kind of a good luck ritual if you will. I changed out the leather strap long ago for a khaki NATO strap that I much prefer. At some point I need to get the sapphire AR coated

Modern 90's Commando

My take on a modernized MP5 and Mk23

SP5; B&T parts almost exclusively since they are OEM for H&K and still in production. RB RD3-FRT cassette with my lower being engraved by Digital Sublimation Media. By far my most fun gun to shoot, I have around 5K rounds on the RB cassette alone at this point.

Mk23: optic cut done by ZR Tactical , Lobos rail adaptor and a B&T Mk23 suppressor. The optic cut slide is a spare slide , my original serialized slide is still 100% unmodified.

They are collectively my favorite rifle and pistol to shoot by a mile and just pulling them out of the safe brings a smile to my face.

Finished SP5

My attempt at a modernized MP5

Parts List: B&T 39mm QD ACRO Riser, Rail, SQD-M Suppressor and Foregrip, Aimpoint ACRO, H&K Parts Minimalist Rail Mount, H&K A3F Stock. Rare breed FRT-RD3 cassette with my factory H&K lower endgraved by Digital Sublimation Media.

The build is finally done and she shoots like a dream. I went with B&T for most of the parts as they are OEM for H&K. The gun just looks complete now with the full set of pictogram engravings.

I have about 4k through the gun and about 5K on it shooting in FRT. 90% of all shooting has been done with the suppressor mounted shooting various 147gr ammo with zero issues. Well I did have one double feed but that was after about 1,000 rounds without cleaning and the gun was FILTHY shooting weak 900fps 147gr ammo so I cannot fault the gun.

MP5 Monday

Or well an H&K SP5 at least, it's the closest us civilians will ever get without spending 50k.

B&T 39mm QD ACRO Riser, Rail, SQD-M Suppressor and Foregrip, Aimpoint ACRO, H&K Parts Minimalist Rail Mount, H&K A3F Stock. Rare breed FRT-RD3 cassette with my factory H&K lower endgraved by Digital Sublimation Media. VTAC sling attached via U-Loops

The build is finally done and she shoots like a dream, getting an factory 800RPM with the stock 100 degree locking piece. Eventually going to pick up a 90 LP for science.
