My friend suggested magnesium. I bought a “relax” supplement not knowing it was from a certain influencer, and it was magic. Switched to normal brand of just magnesium and it’s useless.

I’ve always been really skeptical of supplements. But I recently discovered I have an actual deficiency of B12, Folic Acid, and D. My Iron and Ferritin are both completely fine. It seemed plausible that my RLS was also caused by a deficiency and with Iron and Ferritin ruled out Magnesium seemed like a good guess.

The supplement that was working also had ashwagandha and tart cherry. Has anyone had success with either of those? Or do I have to go back to the influencer gummies?

Since we’re considering canceling I’m going through my bin of non-refrigerated, leftover packets. I found this ancient relic.

Are meal kits dying? Am I going to have to learn how to grocery shop like an adult?

Not sarcasm, it’s a genuine question.

I’ve been with blue apron for around 10 years. It’s gotten awful so I’ve been looking for alternatives, and all I’m seeing are more bad options.

It’s been so long that I’ve forgotten how to grocery shop, and meal plan.

Has anyone noticed that your Indeed cost has massively jumped in the last couple months?

The amount we normally budget for (even with a balanced budget) isn’t going as far as it did even a few months ago. I’m struggling to explain this to people above me, because they think we must have changed something.

My best guess is that their new priority features or just the bad job market are pushing prices up, but I have no way to get actual data to back that up.

What’s with all the “______ shouldn’t have children” threads? Being childfree is about individual choices, being against specific groups of people reproducing is something else.

Complaining about bad parents and their annoying kids who don’t have boundaries or manners has always been part of this sub, I’m not talking about that. Defining groups of people and saying they shouldn’t have kids is the kind of thing that turns a support sub into a hate sub.

r/antinatalism exists.

I recently started omeprazole for acid reflux and my RLS has become unbearable.

There isn’t a tag for venting.

I’ve had RLS for as long as I can remember, but I can usually get past it and fall asleep so it doesn’t impact my life too much.

I recently started seeing a new doctor because my acid reflux had gotten to a point where I was constantly coughing. I didn’t think to mention RLS because it was never a huge issue. I started omeprazole a few weeks ago, and my cough is pretty much healed, but I haven’t slept more than a few hours a night all week. It’s been bad enough that it’s waking me up.

I also found out I have a B12 and folic acid deficiency. I was optimistic being on supplements for those might help the RLS, but I didn’t realize omeprazole could make it worse.

It feels like I can’t win.

So many negative threads right now. What’s the most surprisingly good band you’ve ever seen?

Is there a shrimp color chart that has both parents? I’m so confused by the normal chart people post.

The egg/clado meme is funny and all, but can we talk about the logistics of a salt dip?

I’m pretty new to shrimp and mine are healthy, but I do not understand the logistics of doing a salt dip. How do I catch one individual sick guy? Do you literally just dip them? What concentration? What kind of salt?

Every time some says just “salt dip!” no context I imagine plucking one out of the tank with my fingers and just dipping them in a cup of brine. That cannot be right.

Why can I not keep corys alive?

I realize this is going to be a near impossible question to answer, but I’ll take any suggestions.

I used to successfully have corys in a 38gal with khuli loaches, ember tetras, and emperor tetras. There also was a a betta for some amount of that time. I moved in 2021 and gave away all my fish.

I set up the exact same tank in my new house a few years later. It originally had the same substrate (sections of rounded pebbles and sand), but I’ve since changed it to soil with a powdery sand cap. (I got the powdery sand just for corys, I thought they would love it).

Ive tried corys several times and they keep, slowly, dying over the course of a few months. I’ve had blue tetras the entire time, and kerri tetras and dwarf flag acaras, they’ve all been completely fine. My tank is fully cycled, I check the parameters when anything dies and it’s never been that. I thought maybe it was the supplier, so I switched to the other LFS near me.

None of them have looked visibly thin or anything when they’ve died or had been acting especially weird. My only guess is that the blue tetras are such jerks they’ve bullied them to death, or there is some element in my water that corys are especially sensitive too.

I’ve tried peppered and three lined.

Best pictures I could get. Any idea what these tiny guys are? My only guess was New Zealand Mud Snails, because they’re smooth (and because I always assume the worst), but do they have that pattern? I can only find pictures of solid colors.

Even now that it’s a meme it is SO difficult to tell if my shrimp have eggs or a horrible disease. How are you all getting such good pictures? I can barely get a decent look at them.

If I could get a look at an angle to even take a picture I wouldn’t have to ask, but it’s like they see me coming and hide their undersides.

Why don’t we talk more about WHY Elon is the richest person on the planet and how he’s an outlier of greed even among the greedy.

I think Space X is still operating at a loss. In 2025 Tesla made a modest profit for a car company. What else does he do? At least I can see where Bezos’ money comes from.

His wealth isn’t real money, it’s all based on the inflated valuation of the companies that he owns.

It’s the clearest case possible of a capitalist being rich because other capitalists know that value comes from owning the means of production. Nothing worth trillions is even being produced. It’s a valuation on power over the worker, period.

Tim Hortons. I have no words.

Should we just send Robert to visit Canada for a while? I think US citizens can live there for 6 months without a visa.

Maybe this has been addressed, but it’s pretty obvious that Miracle Grow is buying municipal yard waste for their products. Shady? Sure. But it’s not a conspiracy.

Miracle Grow obviously deserves the blame for all the literal garbage not being sorted out of its products, but it’s happening because people are being careless with what they put out in yard waste bags. It might even be a sign of increased litter in residential areas.

Edit: A couple people pointed out it says it on the bag. I didn’t realize that, it makes people getting conspiratorial about it even more ridiculous.

We use Calendly to schedule phone screens. Today we had three people schedule calls who aren’t anywhere in our ATS and we’re pretty sure they got the link from a candidate.

Why can’t we just have nice things? We’re going to try to ignore it as a one off issue, but this is definitely going to make my life more difficult sooner or later.

Beautiful peonies, planted where no one can see them.

For some reason the previous owners of my house planted these behind the garage. I have to make a point of going back there everyday in the spring just to see them.

One of these years I’ll transplant them, but I’m afraid they won’t survive.

My lacetacara curviceps has been in bad shape for several weeks. No idea what could be wrong.

I have two lacetacara curviceps, the other one is fine. Everything else in my tank is also fine (tetras and corys).

This is my favorite fish, they seem to recognize me and even in their current state they get excited when I come near the tank.

At first I thought for sure it was going to die in a day or two, but it’s been going on for weeks with zero change. I’ve tested my water multiple times it’s fine. I’ve done water changes.

It’s clearly swim bladder related because they can’t swim off the bottom. They’re also very pale, the stripes are because I just fed it, before that they were completely white/grey.

Other than being stuck on the bottom they seem to be able to swim pretty much normally, and they have a normal appetite. The only thing I see physically wrong is the color, and some red around their mouth/gills. I initially thought ammonia poisoning, but like I said ammonia levels are fine.

Any ideas?
