What would you consider a good salary to have to be able to live comfortably in kelowna?

Not just for the comfort, but to be able to save enough money as well. I got a job opportunity in Kelowna, and it would require me to move there if I accept the job.

Right now, I’m a full-time employee at a marketing agency here in Alberta, making $28/hr. No kids, just two cats. I rented a 1BR apartment before, which was around $1.2K a month, and honestly, I barely saved any money.

I haven’t given my salary expectations to this potential employer in Kelowna yet because I’m still having second thoughts about whether it’s worth moving there. It is my dream job, but at the same time, saving money is important to me.

I’m stuck between a stable career and the career I actually want

I'm honestly so tired of working in a corporate environment. I've been burnt out for a long time, and after four years, I don't think this is the life I want. The pay is good, and I'm grateful for it, but I keep thinking that life is short, and I don't want to spend most of it in an office doing work I'm no longer passionate about.

I'm a graphic designer, but what I really want is to become a videographer. The problem is that I barely have time to practice because I'm in the office all day, Monday to Friday. I also don't want to develop that skill at work because I know it'll just become more work for the same job instead of helping me build the career I actually want.

I've been thinking about quitting and getting a part-time job so I have more time to improve my videography skills and build connections, but I don't know if that's realistic with the way the economy is right now.

I just feel stuck. I know I don't want to stay in this job long term, but I'm also afraid that if I don't start pursuing videography now, I'll regret it later.

Whats a good light stand to use for my ML100bi keylight?

Hello! I‘m just starting out. I bought a godox ml100bi light and will later on buy a soft box for it. I need help with finding what light stand to use. I will be mostly shooting restaurant contents or indoor shoots. I saw a Manfrotto 5001B Nano Light Stand on marketplace and i was wondering if this is reliable?

Thanks for those who will answer:) hope you’re having a fantastic day!

Is Godox Ml100bi good choice for small spaces?

With its compact size and portability, it seems like a good choice to buy for someone like me who wants to do content for restaurants and small businesses. But read things about how this light is so bright even at 1 percent, i guess its a good problem to have in a product but I’m not sure if its worth to buy pr should i get something lower?

But if i would buy this, whats a good modifier to use to prevent the light from getting too bright on a subject? Let’s say I’m taking videos of food and theres really not enough space to move the light farther.

its a nissan rogue 2011. yes its an old car but it was well taken care of. infact this is the first major scratch it had. though someone will pay for it, i feel bad for the person. im not sure if i should check another shop or is this amount reasonable for this kind of damage?

Went to see Noah Cyrus perform, and it was the highlight of my summer.

She was amazing on stage, insane vocal, I couldn’t get over it! It was a mini concert so her setlist was short but god the concert happened yesterday and i still cant moved on how amazing the feeling was. If noah is in your city, please go see her. every song will just hit you right in the feels.

Men in my office likes to talk about girls every single day and it’s getting exhausting.

We're a team where most of the employees are men, and there are only two women, including me. Almost every day, the conversations revolve around women. Sometimes it's harmless, but a lot of the time the comments become sexual or objectifying.

The other woman on our team and I find it really uncomfortable. We've gotten into the habit of wearing headphones every day just so we don't have to listen to those conversations. It feels exhausting that we have to do that just to get through the workday.

I'm wondering if this is considered normal in an office environment. Is this just how some workplaces are, or have I ended up in an unhealthy one? I've been freelancing for so long that I'm having a hard time adjusting to corporate life, so I'm not sure if my expectations are unrealistic.

I've also thought about bringing it up with my manager or the owner, but the problem is that they sometimes join in on these conversations as well. That makes me feel unsure about whether speaking up would actually help.

How to stop being jealous of others?

Growing up i’ve always had this personality of mine where i will feel jealous and it will motivate me to do something better or one sided-ly compete with that person. I thought i outgrew it by now until recently someone joined our team and she just became the star of the work. People at work used to praise me alot for good work and now I’m not getting that attention anymore.

Just writing this now, makes me feel needy, immature, shallow and i don’t like it. How can i change my mindset? How can i just stop giving a fuck about it?

Im tired and i dont know what to do

TW: ED, Depression

Im getting tired of my girlfriends issue with her life.

I'm probably going to sound like an asshole here, but I can't keep pretending everything is fine.

My girlfriend and I have been together for three years. At the beginning, I was deeply in love with her. When she was sick, sad, or struggling, I genuinely worried and wanted to help. But over time, something changed.

I think a lot of it comes from resentment. In the entire three years we've been together, she hasn't held a job. We've broken up over this before, but I kept giving the relationship another chance because we get along so well. She's funny, we enjoy each other's company, and letting go has never been easy.

The problem is that I don't know if I still love her the same way anymore.

She's dealing with a lot. She's unemployed, struggles with depression, has trouble committing to plans or appointments, didn't finish school, and recently I think she's relapsing into an eating disorder that she had before we met.

I know those things aren't her fault, and I know mental health issues are real. But instead of feeling concern the way I used to, I find myself feeling annoyed and exhausted. Every time a new issue comes up, my reaction isn't "How can I help?" anymore. It's "Why does it keep getting worse?"

That makes me feel terrible because I know she's struggling. At the same time, I feel more like a caretaker than a partner. It's gotten to the point where I'm questioning whether I've fallen out of love or whether I'm just burned out from carrying so much emotional weight for so long.

I just dont know what to do anymore

My cat kept peeing on my rugs

I took her to the vet 4 months ago, had blood test, came back normal. Now recently shes been peeing on every rugs i buy. She still use the litter box but when she sees an opportunity to go to my bathroom, she pees on my rugs.

If i take her to the vet do i ask for a blood test again or something different? Its just that I’m in a tight budget and wanna make sure that I’m getting the right test.

Her appetite is normal, plays normal.

How much do graphic designers earn here in edmonton?

I have 8 years of experience in the industry and work as a professional video editor. I currently work for a marketing agency, which has been my first job in Canada since immigrating here, and I’ve been with the company for 3 years.

My current wage is $27/hour. Given my experience level, would this be considered low, average, or competitive for the industry?

For additional context, my performance reviews have been positive, and I have a good relationship with my employer. My manager is happy with my work and values the contributions I make to the team.

I just got my PR and now i wanna stay with my mom in asia for a year. Will my status be okay?

I moved to Canada in 2021 as a student and received my permanent residency in September 2025 in Alberta.

I’m planning to stay in Taiwan with my mom for about a year starting next January, then return to Canada afterward to continue meeting my residency requirements toward Canadian citizenship. One of the main reasons for this trip is that my mom is getting older, and I want to spend quality time with her while she’s still active and able to travel around comfortably.

My employer is open to allowing me to work remotely during that time, but I’m unsure how this would affect my taxes, employment situation, and permanent resident status in Canada.

Would leaving Canada for about a year create any complications for my PR status or future citizenship eligibility if I return afterward?
