Singularly focused on Marathon right now

All of my attention and time right now is being spent specifically on watching and helping Marathon die at this point.

I admit I am a bit obsessed at this point, I want this so bad and we are SO CLOSE!!!

It's been a hell of ride from 88k peak to(as I write this) 4,000 worldwide(that's less than my high school).

God I want this so fucking bad more than anything.

We are a family

It's crazy how this game has brought us all together. I am seeing and talking with the same guys and getting to know them. We have a real community here.

We all have the same experience and mindset. Who would have ever thought SOMETHING good would come from this game.

I could see us having a meet up and some beers watch some football. Love you guys

When Marathon goes F2P. Call to Arms.

The rumor is that Marathon goes F2p in a month or two.

At which point I want this subreddit to get serious and come together.

We will implement "Operation Hammer. Code Name: Ad arma, ad victoriam"

I can get the latest actually good hacks, not script kiddie garbage legit stuff, we put together a private discord and we establish a command center to coordinate.

We will attack from all vectors, swarm the servers. If you are flagged? No problem rinse and repeat.

WE DO NOT STOP UNTIL THIS GAME IS BURIED.

Buckeye Uniform

Yesterday I posted a pic of a special one-time use uniform that paid tribute to Brutus. It got mixed reviews. People made comments like "waldo".

I went back to the drawing board. I hopefully want to get this to the point where I can send it to coach Day and the Athletic Department. I think it would be a cool home jersey variant for special occasions.

Special Uniform

I am not saying wear this every game but how bad-ass would this be for a single home game of the season?

Pride month every month

This guy asks an honest question and is getting destroyed in the comments. The consensus from the subreddit is they want to keep it year round because, and I quote, it pisses people like "us" off.

Fortunately the game itself won't be around a year from now.

Message to my Brothers

Seeing Marathon collapse and burn has truly been a hallmark moment in my life. I feel like this is now my legacy and that my life has had meaning. I DID SOMETHING.

My contributions were minimal(hundreds of negative social media posts/memes, griefing in game, etc) but I feel like I played a meaningful small part in the demise of this game and likely the studio itself.

All of us here should stand proud for doing what was necessary. We will be remembered as having been on the right side of history.

To my brothers, BLAST ON!

AI is literally the devil and everyone is pretending it’s fine

AI is literally the devil and everyone is acting like it’s just a cute little homework goblin that helps you write emails. People keep saying “AI is just a tool,” which is such an adult-brain sentence. A guillotine is also a tool. A nuke is also a tool. A blender is also a tool if you put your hand in it and hit puree. That doesn’t mean we should all sit around politely discussing the “ethical implications of the death blender.”

It doesn’t create anything. It eats human art, human writing, human music, human pain, human memories, and then barfs it back up with no soul like math wearing a stolen face. Some tech guy named Braden types “sad anime girl in cyberpunk rain, trending on ArtStation” and suddenly thinks he’s Van Gogh with a mechanical keyboard. Meanwhile actual artists are out here learning anatomy and suffering emotionally like God intended.

And adults are making it worse because they will trade literally anything for convenience. Privacy? Gone. Art? Gone. Jobs? Gone. Truth? Gone. Human connection? Gone. But hey, at least the fridge can write a poem about cheese now. We built an artificial god-brain that can fake voices, fake photos, fake videos, fake emotions, fake love, and fake people, then put it in every app and called it “boosting productivity.”

Soon nobody will even talk to each other. Someone will use AI to text “sorry I’ve been distant,” and the other person will use AI to reply “no worries, I totally understand,” and neither of them will have felt a single emotion. Just two empty robot ghosts politely haunting each other in the dead mall of the internet. That is not progress. That is horror with push notifications.

I know I sound like I’m wearing eyeliner in a thunderstorm on the roof of a Hot Topic, but maybe cringe people are the only ones still emotionally awake. AI doesn’t need horns or fire or demon wings. It just needs a clean user interface, a monthly subscription, and a big shiny button that says “Accept.” And everyone is clicking it.

New player, take aways

Game is fun. The lack of pay-to-win is a breath of fresh air.

It's really interesting what they are doing with the gunplay. As a brand new player missing so often when the enemy is clearly and obviously standing still and in the center of your crosshair feels pretty awful and border line broken at first.

But, I realize now that if this was COD/hitscan(even with the reload time) it would also just break the game and kill the flow of movement. They clearly realized this in testing and infused the RNG on targeting.

It's more akin to a tactical top down game like X-COM in that sense, almost percentage based but not really communicated well to a new player.

Really interesting choice from the devs and I could see how it could turn a lot of the COD/Battlefield kiddies off. I respect it though. I think it could use tuning in some respects and would love to see a cool slowmo killcam as well.

EDIT: I wonder if instead of just complete whiffs and misses with no feedback they could instead always apply the hit but then apply the RNG on damage.

Example: Perfect reticle center mass/bullet drop but the RNG infusion is the shot actually veers to hit the shoulder for 10% damage. I know they do this a little bit because I have seen "damage" but it's not consistent. A hit is always a hit, and the shooter always gets proper feedback. You could tune it all the way down to hitting someone in the hand for 5%(which is essentially a "miss" so they get the benefit of maintaining the same thing as completely missing, but at least you feel like and know your shot was true.
