Formal apology to the subreddit

Today I accused Google of abandoning GalaxyXR and all but ignoring it completely.

I predicted the AndroidXR portion would be consumed by 95% dedicated to their stupid copycat meta glasses, with just a 5% mention of GalaxyXR.

Turns out I was incorrect. It was actually 0% GalaxyXR. Not a single mention whatsoever, as if it didn't exist.

Queue the sunkcost kool aid drinkers: "THIS WASNT THE PLACE FOR IT"

really? The yearly main event discussing AndroidXR and the future of the OS? ...when is the place for it a random wednesday in august? In a year since launch we have gotten 1 single update that literally broke the device, they had to apologize for, and took a month to "fix" even though its not fully fixed...

At least it was a good 2 years in before everyone realized Apple abandoned the Vision Pro. GalaxyXR was dead the day it released.

TLDR: I told you so.

You guys ready to be disappointed??

We all should be used to it at this point.

Prediction:

95% XR related talk devoted to the cringe thick Glasshole product nobody will ever buy/wear

5% dismissive talk about GalaxyXR and some ultra stupid AI implementation(speaking out loud with your headset on to open apps or draw pictures)

At least after today you all will finally realize they gave up on this device before they even launched it, like I have been saying for 8+ months.

Grace will you ever actually level with us??

Wondering if you are ever going to actually admit that internally 95% of android xr is glasses related and they clearly abandoned this headest from what appears day 1.

Kinda want to get you on the record now and compare it to the absolute joke that IO will be when just a single year out from their first XR headset and they barely even mention XR headsets and it is 95% glasses.

You know full well galaxyXR is abandonware at this point.

Smart move Google, well played

We all love Grace and so it's hard to really criticize this team even though there is a lot to complain about. Well played Google.

Should be illegal

I genuinely believe that releasing an XR headset with likely use case being VR gaming and NOT providing boundaries should be sanctioned and illegal.

It is a huge safety concern and it should have been the bedrock of android xr.

I actually think Google could easily be in for a lawsuit when/if someone badly injuries themselves.

They better show something at IO

I don't mind if they are going to have this quarterly+ update cadence, but if they are going to pull this shit they better actually have something to show us.

And no... them "fixing" their awful pushed out mistake was NOT an update. As far as I am concerned we have not had a true feature update in 8+ months from this team. The spatial labs thing seems like a college kids project it's not a legit performance update, it's gimmicky AI that barely works and when it does usually looks bad.

There is a LOT of low hanging fruit that they could "fix" that should never have shipped to begin with(tracking, room boundary's, awful stock environments). My goodwill is waning. This is a 4.82 Trillion market cap company.

I swear to god if all they show is some AI garbage where we can talk outloud to our headsets I am going to make some really passive aggressive tweets.
