Old pictures of some 1930ish inspired hair

I used to wear my hair like this almost every day. Tonight is the first time I've put rollers in my hair in about a year and a half. My hair is much longer now and I'm excited to see how it turns out because I've always had short hair and only ever done rollers on short hair. I also have bangs now so it'll be less "historically accurate" but that's ok lol.

Ideas for 7 month old who won't be spoon fed and can't grasp soft foods?

We started solids at 6 month and was doing a combo of puree and finger foods. Recently he's been refusing to let me feed him at all, so I've just been focusing on finger foods. Stuff like avocado wedges, egg stripes etc are too soft and they tend to mush apart in his hand before he can eat them, then I'm just left with a million tiny little bits that he can not grasp, won't let me feed him, and gets thrown out. He's really loves tomato and orange wedges because they are firm enough he can hold them easily, gnaw on them and suck the juices out. Giving him a pre loaded spoon of mashed food DOES NOT WORK. He almost always dumps it, and for the 2 seconds it takes for me to reload the spoon he cries because he wants it back. I have even tried giving him a decoy spoon to play with. Every time I try to spoon feed him he screams because he wants to hold the spoon lol.

Long strand of mucus/menstrual fluid when I take out my cup

This is my 3rd cycle using a cup and I've managed to figure inserting it and popping it open out, but a lot of the times I take out my cup, there will be a long strand of menstrual fluid coming out of my vagina, that does not just fall out, I have to break it off or something 😭 I took out my cup, emptied it, and sat on the toilet pooping for a good 15 minutes, and I look down, and that strand is still clinging for dear life. Does anyone else have this happen?? It's like a long booger hanging down. Did not have this issue with tampons.

Inhumane working conditions

I am not employed with USPS but my husband has been an RCA for about 3 months now.

How the fuck do they get away with treating people the way they do?? If any other employer treated their employees like this there would be huge public outcry for the working conditions. My husband has been working 12-14 hour days, 6 days in a row. That is 70-80 hour work weeks. I know the union says that he cant be forced to go over 12 hours, but he's scared if he turns around they'll just go and fire him because he is still in his probation period. It's not just him. His office is very understaffed and they do everyone like this. They can't keep anyone. He went in at 10 am yesterday and didn't get off until midnight, then turned around and was back at work at 10 am. The one guy who does turn around at 12 hours, the supervisors bitch and give him shit for it even though they can't make him stay. They want to work these people to death.

It doesn't even make sense, it would seem if they lightened up the workload, they'd be able to hire and retain more people. And they must be losing more money in turnover and overtime than they would if they just kept some less than ideal people on? The whole business model just doesn't make sense to me.

Not just the workload, but being in those vehicles with no AC all day in 90-100 degree weather...it's dangerous. Operating a vehicle when you barely have time to sleep or eat is so dangerous. Just, what the fuck.

Feeling discouraged due to weight gain

So I have 2 long standing WIPS, both fair isle cardigans knit at 7 and 8 sts per inch. When I started knitting them I was knitting for a 38" bust. However, since then I have gained about 60 lbs, partially due to pregnancy, but had also gained a lot of weight before then due to an unhealthy lifestyle and I think I lowkey struggle with binge eating. Now I'm at a 44" bust. Both of the yarns for these sweaters was about $100+. I could frog and work on reknitting but the sound of using tiny little bits of cut yarn and having to spit splice or weave in a bunch of ends does not appeal to me. Plus I started weaving some of the ends in as I went and idk about unpicking all that. There are a lot of ends as they both have many color changes. And id also have to buy more expensive yarn, and have to pay tarrifs on said expensive yarn because both ship from the UK. I have knit the body on both cardigans and started the sleeves on one. Just sad and don't know how to proceed. Gifting to someone else is also not an option, I don't know anyone who would find them stylish and I don't think anyone wants to take the steps to hand wash the wool. Not that I'd want to part with my hard work anyway.

German or Asian? north Alabama

3rd of it's kind I've seen in the span of 2ish months. We also get a lot of wood roaches inside.

Project Hail Mary Sweater

It's really fugly. It's tacky. So I don't understand it's overall popularity. A handsome celebrity will literally wear anything and people will be foaming at the mouth to have it.

What's even weirder is the amount of absolute beginners who choose this as their first knitting project. I've seen so many of those posts over the last couple months. "I've never picked up a pair of needles until I chose to knit this, why does my project look bad".

That's it. I just think it's ugly.

Favorite fingering weight, wool, gradient yarn? Bonus if good for socks

I love a pretty gradient yarn. I've used knit picks chroma, zauberball (original and crazy). I've been looking at Viking Nordlys and Dundaga Wool 6/1 lace. Most gradients I can find are only single ply which isn't great for durable socks. I guess maybe because it's easier to make a gradient single ply? I like crazy zauberball but even that is only a 2 ply and I do prefer more of a true gradient rather than the marling that happens with the crazy zauberball.

Can German roaches flap their wings (location: alabama)

I captured what I am not sure is a German or Asian roach in my house. At first I found him partially dead/wounded under some clothes. I assumed he would die soon, and just left him alone, but I found him a few hours later limping across the kitchen. I put him under a cup to observe and capture him. In the cup he was fluttering his wings but not flying. Can Germans flutter their wings? I assume if it is an Asian he may be too injured to fly, but he was fluttering the wings but not flying.

Asian or German? north Alabama

Today I was picking up clothes and this guy was squashed underneath some clothes partially dead. I have seen one like him a few weeks ago and wasn't able to get a pic. I do see roaches in my house frequently but the others I've seen I've known are wood roaches. This is the 2nd I've seen that I'm not sure if it's German or Asian. Not seen any droppings or ootheca or dead guys. I have seen roach nymphs in my bathtub but they looked more like Smokey brown nymphs, however I am definitely no expert.

5.5 month old not rolling

My 5.5 month old is not rolling in either direction.

He actually has rolled before. When he was probably around 3-6 weeks old he rolled belly to back a handful of times, I think by accident during tummy time because he'd push up, then the weight of his head would topple him over.

He started hating tummy time around 2 months old so I was less consistent with it for a while, and he hadn't rolled belly to back since. Even when I've increased tummy time sessions. He won't even push up on his arms, he Superman's them out to the side and screams if I show him how to push up.

Then at 3 months old he rolled back to belly. Once. I was so shocked because he had been showing no signs of rolling, then one morning he was playing on the floor and rolling side to side like crazy. He made it on to his belly. Couldn't get himself back into his back and had his arm pinned so I freed him.

Then we started PT at 3.5 months for very mild torticollis. The pediatrician wasnt even going to refer us to PT but I pushed the issue because my family kept telling me I needed to get him in PT. It took us a month and a half to get into PT and by then it had honestly got a lot better on its own. I honestly That's resolved now though, but we've been continuing sessions to work on his rolling and sitting up.

He will roll side to side sometimes, but not all the way. And never on his belly. I do exercises with him but lately he hates them extra bad, and I'm getting really discouraged because it's been 2 months of PT and working on rolling and he just won't.

I just think it's so weird because he *was* doing it, and was doing it early, but now it seems like he completely regressed on these skills and doesn't know how to do them. I know babies all develop at their own pace and he isn't necessarily behind, but the regression is what's concerning me. Also, I've noticed a small flat spot forming on his head. When he start PT she measured him for plagio and said he was even, but that was 2 months ago and I know he didn't have a flat looking spot back then. From above and straight on he looks symmetrical, it's just a little tiny flat spot right center on the back of his head. I think it's because he isn't sitting up and rolling and he spends so much time on his back when I'm doing chores, using the bathroom, feeding myself. And hates tummy time. He didn't have it when he was little because he contact napped on me practically all day, but now he naps independently and I have to get on with life and do chores and things and don't hold him all day anymore.

Anyway, has anyone else's baby seemingly regressed on skills they previously knew?

Property management companies gouging for application fees

Me and my husband are looking for an apartment, and we applied to 1 place. We each had to pay $50 fee right off the bat, so $100 total. Then we get a rejection stating that we are denied because their policy is to "accept the first qualified applicant".

If your policy is basically "first come, first serve" contingent on candidates being able to pass a background check/make enough money, it seems extremely scummy that you continue to rake in fees from other applicants before even looking at the applicants you already have. I feel like a background should be the LAST step of the process, have me fill out all of my information, and only have me pay a fee for a background check once youve determined that I'd be a suitable candidate based on the information I provided, and that the others who came first are not suitable.

I'm just so frustrated because you get fucked and gouged for every penny you have every step of the way. Can't afford a house, so forced to rent from greedy corporate overlords who are causing rent prices to soar, nickel and dime you on your security deposit, provide subpar maintenance, etc. There should be some sort of consumer protection for this. I know there is some places but not where we applied. It's insane.

Merchant refunded a card I do not own and did not pay with, claiming it was the original payment method. How is this possible?

Basically the title. I prepaid for services at a dentist office, then cancelled my appointment and asked for a refund. They said they could issue a refund. 3 weeks went by and I did not see it on my account, so I called back to ask what's going on. They tell me they did refund me, they refunded the original payment method, card ending in WXYZ. I say I do not own a card ending in those digits, that is not possible. I pull up transactions for my card ending in ZYXW and find the transaction, that is definitely the card I used, and it definitely does not end in those 4 digits. They keep swearing up and down that it was the original payment method, their system keeps track etc etc. They told me they would get back to me in 7-10 days about this matter to see where there might have been a "glitch". How does this even happen?? I'm don't know how their systems work, but if the computer keeps track, how is it saying I paid with a different card that I don't even own? I can say for 100% certainty that the card I used does not end in those digits, I did not receive a refund, and that I have no card in my name that ends in those digits.

Adding short rows under armpits on raglan sweater?

Hello I am knitting the Tahoma Puff pattern by Jessica powers https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tahoma-puff

Looking at the pattern photos and some project photos, it looks like there is some gaping around the armpit, especially when arms are raised slightly. I'd like to avoid this but I'm not entirely sure how to do it. It seems the issue is that there needs to be more fabric underneath the arms in the armpit area. The pattern instructs you to decrease for the puff sleeves pretty much immediately after you separate them from the body, there are no other rows worked. So I was thinking add more length to the sleeves, maybe just an inch before decreasing. But to add more space specifically to the underarm, maybe short rows? I do not knit many sweaters seamless so I'm not super familiar with how to achieve what I'm looking for. I guess I'm just looking for some input on whether or not that will work, how to execute it, or alternate ideas.

Image is from the pattern page, not mine.

Ootheca or fly pupae? Also ID for dead roach

Location: North Alabama

I found dozens of these in my kitchen this morning. I did have maggots in my trash about a week ago but took measures against them (took out infested trash, vacuumed and killed all the maggots I could find) and haven't seen any.

I've been suspecting a roach problem too, we've always seen a lot of roaches because we live in a trailer in the woods and some entry points are not sealed well. They've always been wood roaches though. But not long ago I saw 2 I thought might be Germans, but I couldn't tell if they were actually Germans or just look alikes. I found this roach near the pupae/ootheca. Did not have the stomach to turn him over but I'm wondering if someone can ID him belly up?

Thanks in advance!
