Returning M5 MBA purchased before price hike, for iPad Air.

Placed an order last week ahead of the price bump.

But I’ve decided to return it when it arrives for pickup at my Staples. Despite the ‘savings’ it’s not really a need, but a want and frankly a case of FOMO.

I know it’ll be more expensive when I do actually need one (probably in a year or two).

And I’m probably in the minority, but I’m eyeing a discounted M3 13” iPad Air instead as my use case is more basic productivity apps and a few graphic apps that utilize the Apple Pencil.

Curious if anyone else has gone this route.

How are you staying cool today?

If you don’t have AC, the places open today are limited.

Libraries are typically ideal to cool down, but obviously not open with the holiday.

Open malls are limited to a few in the GTA.

Don’t know if the city has cooling centres open on a holiday.

Will soccer be more popular than hockey in Canada?

Some might argue it already is. New and older immigrants to the country have grown it's popularity. Add to that, Canada's national teams growing success.

And given how expensive hockey is to equip kids, soccer is much more affordable and manageable for many families.

As a result, will Canada perhaps grow to be a soccer powerhouse in the future?

Any thoughts on why strong USD of late?

After dipping to as low as $1.34 CDN in January, the USD is on a bit of a tear lately hitting $1.41 last week. It's even up against the Euro up about 1.8% from a year ago.

Just wondering if this is just a short term blip or perhaps a longer trend due of some greater US policies.

What are the better recreation/community centres in the city?

One of the many services we pay for in the city are the community centres. Membership rates are reasonable, lots of locations, and a few centres are entirely free.

That said, my local old recreation centre is in dire need of upgrades (and cleaning). Weight rooms don't have the latest cardio machines or they're showing signs of rusting. I have seen one newer centre with a huge gymnasium, pool, and well equipped fitness equipment...and clean.

What are some of the better community centres in the city?

What are Wealthsimple's main advantages for you?

For me it's promotions. I just hope there's a return to better promotions.

I'll admit I was lured to Wealthsimple back in the day when iPhones and MacBooks were offered with a $100K and a 1 year lock in. I've taken advantage of this offer a couple of years in a row.

But as someone who doesn't make many trades, I've never found their commission free trades that much of a perk. Obviously if you trade a lot, it's worth it.

Better user interface, perhaps?

Free perks? Willful, Medcan offers are fine, but not must haves.

Better promotions? WS did at one point but some banks are now offering better rates and shorter hold times.

Those born in 1963...2026 is a Platinum/Beddian birthday.

A platinum birthday is when your age is the same as the last two numbers you were born.

Apparently this mathematically happens only once in a person's lifetime.

So if you're born in 1963, you will turn 63 this year.

Just a fun fact.

Why does tax not show up regardless of what I select?

I'm at my wits end here. Automatic or manual settings don't seem to make a lick of difference and my test order still doesn't show any taxes charged.

Is there something missing? Is this a known bug and is there a fix? Please help.

Any other age 60+ runners?

Life long runner here. Not as fast as before but don’t really care. I just enjoy the runs and it keeps me in shape.

Not sure I can do another full marathon, but was inspired by the 78 year old woman marathoner who still runs a 3:30 race.

Would love to hear from others. Is age just a number and how do you approach running as you’ve got older.

How do you feel about being recorded by camera glasses?

We’re seeing more and more these type of cameras out in the public. While it’s legal to be recorded in public spaces, does the stealth nature make it feel more creepy?

Google glasses failed over 10 years ago. Have we just become accustomed to being recorded on cameras regardless of the device?

What is fair rate for manual labour (landscaping) ?

I’m looking for someone to remove grass from existing small front and back lawn with a heavy pickaxe.

Thinking maybe a handy person or labourer as most landscaping companies don’t do small jobs.

Did you get / give out your number on paper?

Back in the day when getting phone numbers were handed out on a piece of paper instead of a smartphone.

And what a banger of a song.

Do vintage style blanks exist?

I’m looking for vintage style blanks. So thinner, muted colours and possibly distressed although this last point is not imperative.
Does this exist or perhaps resorting to an off-white tri-blend which are typically thinner softer feel.

Can I still buy blades/parts for an original Silhouette SD?

I stumbled across an old cutter at my local thrift shop. No power cord, or printer cable.

I also didn't see any blade in the machine. I'm not very familiar with Silhouette and cutters, but was wondering if this might still be usable with new blades and a generic power cable.

Some threads say it can work with MacOS (and potentially Windows as well).

Thoughts?

I finally received notification that I'm off the wait list.

However, during that one year wait, I've since moved funds out of WS lowering my status to still Premium, but much lower than previously.

I'm seeing one of the requirements is $300K in assets for Infinite+ and $400K for Privilege. Has this always been this high, or has this changed?

Currently using an old 1990s mountain bike that does the job but is very slow. I’ve been thinking about getting a new cheap bike for errands.

Given how rampant bite theft is in the city I just want something cheap to run errands with.

I could get a new 700c bike from Canadian Tire for a bit more than $200.

I have also seen some used bike at bike sauce going for only $100 and may have better parts.

Would love some thoughts or advice.
