Problem: Sometimes the first 2 posts in a sub will appear duplicated in AB + AB format as you scroll down.

My observations:

- I’ve only seen it occur when the first 2 posts are text-only. I have not seen it occur when one of those 2 posts contains media. I just hd it happen with media posts too.

- This problem has been happening for about a week.

- It happens in multiple subs, but is intermittent. I have not been able to determine if it only occurs in subs that I mod.

- It appears to be only a visual glitch. I haven’t noticed anything affected by it other than one’s sanity.

- Scrolling down a ways beyond the 2 posts + the 2 duplicates, and then scrolling back up makes the 1st set disappear.

[Desktop Web] Chat requests all show "from Empty room" and "Group created".

Problem:

From a desktop browser, chat requests all show "from Empty room" and "Group created" (1st screenshot). Avatars are missing too.

  • This problem isn't occurring in the iOS mobile app for me.
  • If you click on the view request button, it will show the correct info on who it's from in the next screen.
  • When going back to the list of chat requests, the one you just clicked into will show the correct info, but then some of the others will replace the "from Empty room" with the T2 ID instead of the username. (2nd screenshot)

  • In ongoing efforts to prevent abusive scraping and automated traffic, over the next month, Reddit will start requiring users to log in to use old Reddit. This was announced on Tuesday here.
  • If you are in the EU, you may be asked to verify your age. This is a legal requirement to comply with the EU Digital Services Act. You can check out the Help Center article here. Little more info about this here.
  • If you are trying to use a selfie to verify your age and it fails, the only other options are to upload your ID or contact Persona for support. Reddit cannot help you with a failed selfie for age verification purposes.
  • Right now, these are the countries that have age requirements:
  • If you are not in those countries, but your account is unable to do certain things like chat, it may be due to Teen Safety restrictions. The ability to unlock settings in the iOS app if you're a teen will be coming soon. Not sure if that ability will come to Android.
  • If you need to have something fixed regarding your age, you can use this form and then select your region and what your issue is. I do not know what the turnaround time is on those requests.
  • Some users in the EU are unable to use Anonymous Browsing mode. This is not intentional. This is a bug that they are working on getting fixed.

Remembering and Honoring u/bluequail

It is with a heavy heart that I share some incredibly sad news with our community.

Our top mod u/bluequail passed away on June 30th. I was informed on that day by her oldest son. He also announced it on her facebook page for those who knew her IRL.

bluequail was a vital part of this community, volunteering her time, energy, and passion to help make this space a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. She was an active mod in this same sub for over 16 years. It's incredibly rare to see that level of commitment and longevity these days. She was a great friend and I miss her.

She was a very kind woman who not only took care of her family, but was also very kind and generous to people in need everywhere. She donated a lot of money over the years to complete strangers on Reddit, in subs like r/assistance and r/care. She helped people IRL too, and even welcomed some people into her own home. She also cared for animals on her farm.

My thoughts and prayers are with bluequail’s family, loved ones, and friends during this difficult time. Thank you all for being part of this community and for helping us honor her memory. Her presence will be deeply missed here.

I know she made many friends on Reddit under this username or her other account where she made most of her donations. I want to invite everyone to use the comment section below as a space to share your favorite memories, expressions of gratitude, or kind words in her honor.

Yes this is reality TV, and yes its a bit corny, but it was very interesting at the time.
