Working for Canadian Tire - Parts Clerk /Service Advisor

Hello everyone, not sure where to post this so i figured id post here.

I'm applying to Canadian Tire since i saw an opening in-person. I'm speaking to the manager tomorrow.

They're hiring for parts clerk & service advisor. I have tons of customer experience but I don't know much about cars. I'm willing to learn though! I heard for service advisor you typically are the front line and messenger for customers who have car troubles. I'd have to listen to their complaints and schedule appintments (for mechanics) and check inventory.

Parts Clerk just stock inventory, order parts, and check to see everything's in check. I figure you should have some knowledge about parts?

I don't want to overwhelm myself on something. Should I go for being either parts clerk or service advisor if i dont have experience in the automotive industry? Or maybe i can do parts clerk for a year then switch to a service advisor since they have higher pay.

Any tips?

Really need a full-time job!

I've been applying basically everywhere at this point.

Im a recent graduate from Carleton and studied psychology. However I'm willing to work somewhere not related to the field.

I also have 7 years experience of customer service (started when i was 18) and a couple year experience in being a lot attendant at a hospital.

I'm willing to work 8am-11pm and i'd just take anything that's not door to door sales. I just need a full-time job.

If any employer is looking to recruit I can email my resume.

Since a lot of students are heading back to school I'm thinking it can be good area to post this.

My gums hurt - Oral B io6

Hi there, so my right cheek (inner) hurts when I stretch it via my tounge. My settings are gum care because I have gingivitis.. I've started using the brush for a few weeks and i apply pressure to my gums for the toothbrush base to turn green (Green = perf pressure).

However lately ive been feeling minor pain on that area , it hurts when i touch my gums on the upper pre molars gum area and upper right cheek when i play with it with my hands.

Not sure what to do. if i add less pressure the app will say "increase pressure".

Good French in-person courses?

Hello, so I'm trying to learn and better my French. I already know some basics, like counting to 100, basic introduction of myself, asking directions, colours, ordering, and asking to use the bathroom.

But I can't hold a conversation, accents are thick and hard to understand, and I can't say anything beyond what I stated above. I think im at an elementary position.

Sadly i'm just about to graduate Carleton University and never thought to take their french 1001 courses.

I heard Francais Alliance is too expensive and just follows through a textbook.

Any help is appreciated!

Your thoughts on XUSF?

Their top holdings are:

BRK.B, JPM, V (Visa), Mastercard, American Express, Bank of America.

It's in CAD.

I've bought a couple shares, would love to know your opinion on it.

Plan is LONG term

Looking for suggestions: Keep MU or sell it for QQC

Hi so I joined late for the whole Micron boom and ive been down for awhile. However I keep hearing things like AI memory supply not reaching demand for a few years and i keep thinking about FOMO and don't know the best strategy. Should I see how MU performs over the course of few months and if nothing, then sell it for QQC.

QQC has top holdings of: NVDA, MU, Apple, AMZN, Microsoft, etc.

I basically hoped i wasn't too late for MU and get a lot of gains. I have 3k invested in MU.

Cleaning maintenance for io6

Hey guys. So I bought this after knowing about the common mold issue. So I just wanna lay out what I do to see if this is good enough

  1. After brushing I leave the brush on and rinse the bristles and the surrounding brush head with running water

  2. Then I seperate the head and unit and rinse both. I rinse the inside of the brush head thoroughly and the metal shaft of the unit.

  3. I tap the brush head for excess water inside and i use my mouth to blow dry. I dry the base with a napkin and then leave it ontop of a fresh paper towel in a good ventilated area.

Twice a week I will use liquid soap to clean the bristles and the whole unit (metal shaft, seams, crannies, nooks) and dipping the brush head into mouthwash for 10s followed by a rinse.

Is that good enough?

Just bought my first ever electric toothbrush: Oral iO6

I started taking care of my teeth better. I had a deep cavity close to the nerve and had lingering bad pain and thought i needed a root canal and my tooth would eventually fall off. This lead to many internal crashouts. Turns out, pain went away and my nerves were healing and healthy.

This prompted me to buy an electric toothbrush io6 esp with the app that'll track my progress as well as an electric water floss.

I'm so happy and I can't wait for it to arrive.

Investing in banks worth it if your goal is growth?

Hello, I understand banks are more divident based, but I don't see any issue with them growing. I'm eyeing on RBC stock or TD stock.

What's the drawback really since my goal is growth. I already invest in XEQT, QQC, and AI stocks.

This stock has so much potential and undervalued

I hardly see people talking about MDA, mostly NASA, UFO, SpaceX, etc.

This has good contracts, with upcoming ones, potential for solid growths, and much more.

I truly believe this stock will boom soon. We already went up a few days ago.

Gonna be dumping 50 shares into this and then DCA for the next 10 years.

Let's fucking go!

For new investors, be careful when random people DM you here

When you comment or post here, I'd get people trying to DM me, usually starting off innocent and agreeing with my/your post or commenting something related to it. Then they try to move you off platform and pressure you to buy stocks or even crypto. Obviously I tell them to fuck off. I invest in whatever I want, so please don't feel pressured to listen to them.

This seems obvious to most to simply ignore and block but some start off with relating to your posts and carry small talk, then try to convince you that investing in other stocks and crypto will make you gain loads of $$, if you're a new investor, this could be a dangerous mistake.

So to all the new people, don't answer DMs, the posts you make are public so there shouldn't be any reason to privately DM someone, they can simply comment on the post. I'm not saying everyone is malicious but I feel like most of the time they aren't there to be "friends".

That's just my experience.

Should I hold AMD, MU, and NVDA invididually or buy XCHP Semiconductor ETF?

If I buy XCHP (top holding: MU, AMD, NVDA) then it's in CAD so no conversion fees. So far I have 0 USD stocks.

However, if I buy them seperately, these single stocks have had massive gains the past months and year, which I'd like to hope would continue and experience if I hold these.

I'm 26 so im open to risk. I just don't know what's the smart move.

Anyone have experience with Dr. Maxwell Silver or reccomend doctors for mouth breathing?

I don't see any reviews online which makes me eerie as i am a highly cautious person.

I am a chronic mouth breather, I had braces done earlier but never worn my retainers.

I need treatment to correct my jaws as they are recessed as well as my chin and I believe they are in line with my health problems.

I believe MARPE will help me as it'll expand my upper jaws to allow nasal air expansion and double jaw surgery to correct symmetry and nasal passageways.

If anyone here had their mouth breathing corrected by MARPE + jaw surgery can you please give your experience.

A note: I saw an ENT in 2019 and he cleared me of any surgeries regarding nasal structure.

I basically need someone who understands mouth breathing and can help correct it.

25M if that matters

Should I even bother doing this all over again (26M)

Context:

I had braces at 19, dad paid for it, had wisdom teeth removal and SARPE. Thing is, at the same time, had depression (untreated), in and out of hospital, and bad bad anxiety. I wasn't brushing twice a day, no floss, etc. I ended up with gum disease, discoloration, some bone loss, and gum decay. I also had permanent stains on my teeth and cavity.

Somehow I was blessed enough to never needing root canals or anything beyond cavaities.

Originally, I needed jaw surgery to fix these problems

  1. Mouth breathing

Somehow, I don't have bad breathe or dry mouth despite mouth breathing causing those things, however, my jaws are underdeveloped/recessed. I was supposed to do jaw surgery but I backed out of it due to stress and depression. I regret this so bad.

SINCE THEN:

I've reversed a lot of the damage but some damage is permanent. The stains of my teeth is not as visible as before..ive been going to the dentist every 3 months, ive been brushing my teeth twice a day consistently with proper techniques, and i have started flossing once a day and will buy a water floss machine as a supplement.

My retainers do not fit me anymore but my teeth look straight and nowhere near when i was 19 years old.

Now here's why I think I shouldn't bother doing this..

  1. Mouth breathing: Since ive been doing this for nearly all my life, it's such a embedded, integrated part of my life and along with the muscle memory is this even reversible? I don't know if I can imagine myself breathing through my nose since it's such an accustomed, decade long habit

  2. Relapse: I heard relapse is high if you: mouth breath, poor tounge posture, overbite. I have all of those! So what if I undergo all this and then relapse...just a scary thought

  3. Cost: It'll suck I have to undergo braces again plus surgery.

Updated portfolio, hopefully better? (26M btw)

Portfolio:

XEQT, VDY, NBIS, and MU. I'm a firm believer of AI and tech, so might even throw in NVDA. VDY I am keeping, big banks making higher than expected profits in Q2 Canada. So I'm glad I kept that up.

How much I invest:

XEQT - 1500 /month

VDY - 300/month

NBIS - 200/month

MU - 200/month

Is my portfolio pretty good?

26M here, holding for a few decades.

My current portfolio:

XEQT

WCP

CNQ

VDY.

My desired portfolio

XEQT - 800/month

VDY - 300/month

CNQ. - 100/month

NVIDIA - 200/month

MU - 200/month

NTLA or SLS (biotech, heard good things about the trials). minimum share

Removed: WCP

XEQT for global growth

VDY for bank exposure in Canada

CNQ for energy exposure

NVDIA/MU for AI/tech exposure

NTLA/SLS for biotech exposure (ik its risky which is why im doing minimum share)

I also understand XEQT does have tech in investments but I think adding the individual stocks like MU and NVIDIA would be good as there's new chips coming/signed contracts.

Any opinions on this? I plan to start this pretty soon

4DX or standard - Backrooms (2026)

I've been a HUGE backrooms fan since 2021-2022. Espicially after the surgence of Kane Parson's 2022 backroom found footage. I've played every backroom game and watched countless random levels on youtube. In a nutshell, i'ma huge fan and I want to experience this movie in the best way possible.

My cinema offers 4DX or standard. I don't mind random movements but would it be better for suspense to build by itself or have the chairs shaking as something tenses?

I can't really decide :P

Shoutout to professor Philippe Antoine Hoyeck, Lisa Menard, and Kyle Harvey

You can delete this post if this isn't allowed, but I can't graduate knowing I didn't make a post about these immaculate professors.

Philippe Antoine Hoyeck - PHIL2340: This professor made the entire course mad interesting, with excitatory movies I haven't seen before that's now part of my top 10, and perplexing theories that took days to comprehend but it was so fun learning about it all. He made the class very fun (even though it was aysch) but he did have some live sessions. His midterm and exams weren't too bad, a little hard but this isn't a bird course. I'm beyond happy I took this course, whenever I was confused about something his responses were very elegant, thorough, and even meticilous (in a good way). He truly cares about his students he makes sure his replies are lengthy but within quality. I sent him an email by the way expressing my joy so he already saw this!

Lisa Menard - PYSC3509: This class was in-person, so this makes the experience more superb. Lisa gave us chocolates after midterms..yum. But here's why she's my favorite. She stays after class and helps students, but she goes above and beyond, I'd walk with her out of class and she'll explain everything precisely, and she always told me to email her if I have further questions. Every single convo she'd tell me to email her, instigating a student-teacher relationship that reflected my excellent performance towards the end. I got an A. She's super understanding with student's personal accomadations or circumstances and treated us like family. lI honestly don't think I'll ever find a professor like her but I'm so glad I found a teacher that showed this level of care in my final semesters of university.

Kyle Harvey - MATH1007 - This man is a math goat. He deserves praise for making math easy to understand. He is straight to the point, gives us concrete examples, and helps us understand math in different ways. His easy exams are relative to his lectures. He was always in the math tutorial center ready to help me us if we needed anything. Truly an amazing GOAT.

Anyone have good advice for the 20s?

I'm 26 and have listened to yall and started investing in the stock market and reading more.

I'm graduating uni with a degree in psych.

I am taking swim classes to maximize my swim techniques

I still eat junk food but im trying to cut it. It's pretty hard. Overall healthy, no health issues

I guess now my focus should be my career path. I'm interested in law enforcement but the night shifts are so damn unappealin..i guess ill have to think it through on what I want to do with my life.

Perhaps can you give general career advice? Or personal stories where you had no idea what you wanted to do and something clicked?
