What actually makes you trust a tradesperson enough to hire them?

I work with a few local roofers on their marketing, and I find that in Leicester the people that want quotes don't tend to go with them whereas their conversion rate in the surrounding areas is much higher.

I'd just genuinely like to understand it from your side as a homeowner or landlord, if you've needed a roofer in the last couple of years:

  • How did you find them?
  • What made you pick one over the others, or put the job off completely?
  • What's the thing that made you trust (or not trust) a roofer?
  • What's the worst thing a roofer or builder has done that put you off?
  • When you did find someone good, what made you trust them?
  • Does price matter most, or is it turning up and being straight with you?

Not selling anything and won't be posting any links. I'm just trying to get the roofers I work with to do better. Cheers.

What do you do when your client goes on holiday?

I have received a message from my client this morning that he is going on holiday tonight and won't be back for 9 days and he has told me to pause the ads until he gets back.

This is a client that is happy with what I have done so far with him and this is my first time running into this situation. What should I do as I know pausing the ads will reset the learning phase? But also if I keep them running what happens with the leads that come in if he’s away?

I run ads for roofing businesses and the budget so far has been £30 a day for Meta ads and we're coming to the end of the trial period for this client. He has said he is happy and wants to sign with me on a retainer deal for a higher fee.

How long before a trial do you ask if they want to sign on for the next month?

I have got 2 clients who I started running ads for at the same day on a one month trial offer. I have checked in on them once already, one has said they are not happy with the leads as they have not got jobs for them (even though I've got them over a lead per day for roofing, qualified them and automated resposne to them) and the other is happy to continue for the next month on a higher retainer. They agreed to £30 a day for a month and it's coming up to the one month date.

When should I contact them about what they think and whether they want to extend it?

How should I go about it?

All help is appreciated, thank you.

Selling B2B

How many of you sell to businesses for the purposes of commercial roofers?

  1. How do you get commercial roofers as clients?
  2. How do you get the right leeds and then sales?
  3. How do you structure your deals?

I'm based in the UK if that makes any difference.

I've heard building a targeted outbound system, done-for-you B2B paid campaigns (Google + LinkedIn), and partnership channels (GCs, property managers, architects) is the way to go but curious on your thoughts and experience.

When do I make changes to my ads?

I've set up my ads for 2 of my clients (both roofers in the UK) and they've been running for 6 days on £30 a day budget each. I got:

  • 8 leads in the first 3 days for one campaign and none in the next two days or today so far (Cost Per Result is £18.53 at the ad set level) and
  • 10 leads in the first 5 days for the other but that was in the morning and nothing since (Cost Per Result is £16.68 at the ad set level)

Meta's AI is giving suggestions like "Tailor Creative for Female Audiences", "Shorten Ad Copy for Better Readability", "Add Music to Static Content", "Replace Underperforming Static Creative" and "Advantage+ Creative Enhancements" but I see mixed reviews on whether the AI actually helps.

With the campaign being so new I don't know if I should just leave it for now.

Also I don't know if it makes a difference but only one out of the four creatives I'm testing is getting the leads and eating most of the budget for each campaign.

When To Make Changes In Your Ads?

When it comes to running ads for months and months and months, how often should you make changes/how do you know when to make changes and what changes to make?

When should you increase or decrease (if there even is a reason to decrease it) the ad budget?

When do you go from running one campaign with one ad set testing 3-4 ads to expanding in campaigns, ad sets and ads?

Curious to know what you guys think and the businesses/niches you've done this in.

What is too small a location area/audience to use?

Hi guys,

What location area or estimated audience size would you consider to be too small for an ad set?

I am running an ad campaign for roofers and my client wants a pretty small radius of a city plus 4 nearby towns with a radius of no more than +10km each (even though I know Meta doesn't let you go lower than 17km unless you click 'this city only'). The towns and the city obviously overlap which makes it cover less distance. I selected +24km on the largest radius and the estimated audience size is 2,300,000 - 2,800,000. The campaign only went live today but I have still got no leads. Is it too small?

Thanks in advance

8 Ads on a £30 daily budget and AI ads?

I was wondering what your thoughts are on this:

I'm running ads for a roofing client for one month as a trial and on a £30 daily budget. Normally I just do 3-4 ads with different creatives and the same copy but now I'm thinking of running 8 ads under one ad set with some different copy on each.

Does that work or will it spread it too thin?

Also has anyone found AI ads performing better than real photo/video ads?

And has anyone found the new conditional logic uploading of a CSV file in the instant forms frustrating or is it just me? I can't seem to get the right mix of dropdown answers that I want - they've either removed the "disqualifying" questions or they include them but they don't end the form in which case I may aswell have just added the questions in the regular way.

Thanks in advance.

What Offers Work Best For You?

I was wondering if I should do a package where I offer on a performance based deal so was curious to see what others experiences of this are and if you can trust the client to tell you if they get a booked job from it (if you're offering pay-per-booked job)

We run lead gen on a monthly retainer or a performance based basis for the first month - our pilot rate)

We book the (qualified) calls, you close the deals

Good fit:

- You have at least a few clients and 2-3 case studies with the offer you want to run in the niche you run in

- You’re either based in the US or UK or exclusively target English speaking markets like US, CA, UK and AU (we only do these)

- You sell a high ticket offer, at least £5k LTV per deal

How Are You Getting Commercial Work?

Hi guys,

I wondering how you get commercial contracts.

I work with roofers and exterior cleaning businesses to be specific and have only done DTC (homeowners) and for that I run Meta ads so I was curious to know how I can get these businesses commercial work and if it's worth me going down that road.

Thank you in advance.

Running Reactivation Campaigns - Are They Worth It?

Hi guys,

I've been working with home service businesses, specifcially roofers and exterior cleaning businesses. I run paid ads but thinking about running reactivation campaigns as they do not require any ad spend from the customer. I was just wondering how those of you that do this really successfully go about it. Do I need any software like GHL? Also how can I text from their number without actually having their phone as I've been told that's what you do in these campaigns?

Anything else I need to know before doing this like proper pricing structure, communication, reports, even the best way to sell this to them would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.

Runnign Meta Ads For A Fabricated Steel Business - Worth It Or Ineffective?

Hi everyone, a steel company has said they want to:

  • Gain likes on Facebook
  • Gain visibility (brand recognition)
  • Improve search position / ranking
  • Sell more of their steel products.

They want to outsource their social media, have been trading for less than 12 months. They haven't committed to a monthly budget yet.

They mainly want to raise their profile and generate more leads on social media.
ideas for content etc. but I don't think social media is the best way for this kind of business to get leads.

For those who have experience of doing marketing/running ads for a business like this, what have you found to be the best way to go about getting this type of business and get leads and sales? I would have thought Google Search ads would be more effective?

Appreciate all the help, thank you.
