How is it being a BM?

I am I leave for training in about 5 months and want to go ME but I was told it is about a year long wait for A school right now and my runnerup is BM. I was curious how BM life is as well as how well it can transition into civilian life if I do end up leaving after my first enlistment? I hear all over that BMs work with MEs and can also go the special divisions as well. What is the QOL for BMs on average?

Question about BAH

I was talking to the Chief at my local office about how BAH works and he was telling me that most Coast Guard duty stations dont have on base housing and so that I would automatically get BAH and that the majority of duty stations dont have on base housing. How true is this and if so how can I look into which stations do and dont have this housing. I really would prefer to get BAH due personal preference. But if not its no biggie.

How Funny is Basic?

How normal is it for people to crack up during basic? All I hear is how its the funniest place you are now allowed to laugh at.

Is it wrong for me to accept her back?

My girlfriend and I have been dating for one and a half years we’ve been living with each other and we finally decided that it was probably best to break up. It wasn’t ugly. It wasn’t anything bad it was just that the way she was raised instilled this idea that she needed to live the life that she had planned and that a relationship was completely unexpected. She’s never been fully on her own before and she asked if after some time if she realized that she had a change of heart and wanted to make things work for good if we could work things out. We both deeply love each other and have been with each other through some of the roughest moments of our lives. I want her to have a wife that she wanted, but if she decides to come back, is it wrong to accept her?

1.5 Years done for and now Im living alone again

My girlfriend and I broke up just a couple days ago. It was nothing ugly. It was genuinely just a mutual agreement that it was for the best as she has a lot of internal issues that she admitted that she needs to work out and didn’t think that she could do so, while being in a relationship. She’s moving out in August yet she’s been living elsewhere, so all of her stuff is still here until then. Coming home these past few days has been really hard because every time I come home it feels so empty and colorless. I didn’t realize how much joy she brought into my life until now. I’ve got about a year until I graduate college and then I go into the Coast Guard but I dread the next year to come because it is gonna be so boring and lifeless without her. I don’t really have friends i can talk to about this so I feel alone no matter what. I know eventually I’ll heal and move on for the most part but that time in between is going to be so torturous.

USCG preparation

I’m 22 and currently in my last year of college so I’ll be graduating next spring. I want to be able to enlist and be ready to go after I graduate and I have a couple questions. I want to be a rescue swimmer and then move up to become a diver when I become an E4 and I know that requires you to be a strong swimmer and I’m not a bad swimmer, but I always think I can improve what would be the best way to practice and prepare for the physical test to be a rescue swimmer and diver. As well as just overall fitness preparation over the year for the Boot Camp.

Dont really know what i am gonna do after college and think the military is the safest option

I am currently a year away from graduating college with a bachelor’s in history. I honestly have no direction in what I want to do after college and the military seems like the safest choice. No clue on what branch to join or what job I would want. I dont know how joining the military after college goes and how it differs from just enlisting out of highschool. I am worried that if I go to a recruiter, they are just gonna bullshit me and tell me what I want to hear so that they can hurry me onto bootcamp and that I wont be getting the fullest of my opportunities. Any info or advice would greatly help.

Im so demotivated

I only have been fishing for a couple weeks and I have only had one good day so far and that was on my Uncles boat out in the delta near me. But obviously I cant use a boat everytime and I dont have the money to spend on a local boat guide. I wanted to go to the American River and try for Striper and maybe Shad but I have tried a couple different lures but nothing seemed to work or get any attention. And everywhere I looked I cannot seem to get a straight answer for a good rig to use to catch Striper. All ive seen is some super complicated setup using weights and dead fish and its really difficult to comprehend and I was hoping there was a bit more of a simpler way to get them. I also have a Medium Light 6’ 6” rod with 6lb line and so i think I need to buy a new rod and stronger line. Idk im just frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Junk 03 Civic with blown head gasket or nah?

Have an 2003 civic 1.7L that I bought off a friend. Has 122k miles but unfortunately it has a blown head gasket. My one if the dudes at the mechanic shop said that the guestimate is around 3.5k-4k for the repair. But they are going ti check in with the main boss to get an actual set quote and I just want advice on if it is that much if its worth junking and buying something else.

Need help finding fishing spots (New to fishing)

I am in the Sacramento area in CA and I am completely new to fishing and have a yearlong license. I know people wont give out their good fishing spots but if you guys wouldnt mind just giving me advice on how I can find fishing spots. Are there fish in every river/stream? Can I just hike around and find a random body of water and start fishing and how do I know what kind of fish are in parts if the waters? How do I know if its trout, bass or blue gill? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Any advice for expanding knowledge on US history

I want to be a high school US history teacher and I have about 2 years until I can get into the teaching field. I am worried I dont have enough knowledge even though I am thoroughly educated in US history, any advice on what I can or should do to prepare more knowledge and expand on it before I get into the field?

Worried I dont know enough

I am a college student currently in my last year before I graduate with a BA in history and then I plan on getting my teaching credentials in California to teach history. I want to specifically teach US history and I know I have extensive knowledge on it but I keep thinking and getting into my head that I still wont be able to have enough to teach. Is this a normal thought for incoming teachers?
