2027 is a Fire Goat year, the first since 1967. An old saying claims only 1 in 10 Goat babies is happy. Here’s who the year actually favors
Lunar New Year 2027 lands on February 6, and with it the Fire Goat. The last one began on February 9, 1967. If you were born in 1967 after that date, 2027 is the exact year you were born in, coming back at 60 (Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman are both in that club).
The Goat year comes with baggage. An old Chinese saying goes that only one in ten people born in a Goat year finds happiness. In 2015, the last Goat year, couples told reporters they were putting off pregnancies, and China’s family-planning commission even pointed to the superstition when births came in about 320,000 lower than 2014. Most demographers weren’t convinced.
The thing is, that saying is about babies, and it isn’t how Chinese astrology reads a year anyway. A year doesn’t land the same on everyone.
The quick version, by the animal of your birth year:
- Horse, Rabbit, Pig: the Goat’s natural allies. A year that tends to open doors and bring the right people in.
- Goat: your own year. Traditionally one to move carefully and not force big bets.
- Ox: the Goat’s opposite. Expect a shake-up: a move, a job change, a reshuffle.
- Everyone else: middle of the road.
(January or early February birthday? Your animal follows Lunar New Year, so you may be the animal of the year before.)
But your birth-year animal is only one piece, the way your sun sign is only one part of your Big 3. The piece that matters most is the day you were born, which makes you one of ten types: the sun, a candle flame, rain, an old tree, garden soil and so on.
Drop your birthday (and birth time if you know it) and I’ll tell you your type and how 2027 lands for you: a push year, a build year, or a rest year 👇
