Guy at my gym made rude comments about my scars

Guy at my gym made rude comments about my scars

Girl Dinner: 2 rice cakes, some frozen blueberries and strawberries, and a spread made from cottage cheese, avocado, smoked turkey and some hot sauce.

I'm 25f and I've struggled a lot with my mental health and I've used a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms ever since I was 14. Not going to go into details about that but you can probably guess. I'm doing so much better. I'm like 6 months clean and I have a lot of healthier ways of coping now. My scars are still one of my biggest insecurities. Luckily for me they're in places that aren't very noticeable.

Yesterday I was doing pull ups at the gym and my shirt rolled up a bit. I have scars on my stomach and I wasn't really thinking about that at the time. I noticed that this guy was staring at me. I thought that he wanted to use the pull up bar so I asked him if he wanted to work in. Then he gave me this creepy ass smile and he aske me if I got mutilated by a wild animal. I ignored him of course and I tried to leave. He then stepped in front of me and asked me if was a kink thing. I didn't respond to him. I just turned around and walked away from him. I wish I had a comeback but in the moment I didn't know what to say.

Its so stupid. I've been trying to ignore it but I can't. I hate how much these stupid comments from a strange is affecting me. I hate that it's affecting me and that it makes me feel like shit. I should be able to ignore it and move on but I can't. Like why is it bothering me so much?? Also, I hate that I didn't stand up for myself but in the moment I really didn't know what to say.

1364 cals, 90g of protein and low carb

I'm 25f, 5"6 and currently 166lbs. I try to hit 1500 calories daily but some days I don't. I do strength training 5-6 days a week plus 30 minutes of cardio after and I try to hit 10k steps every day. This diet has worked for me so far but lately my energy levels has been really low. Also think I need to get more protein in but that's hard for me.

How do you advocate for yourself at the doctors when you know that something is wrong?

I'm 25f and I've been dealing with migraines since I was a teenager. The older I get the worse it has gotten. I've been to multiple doctors and I feel like they all haven't taken me seriously. They act like it's nothing when it's been affecting my life so much. They usually prescribe me these pain killers that do not work. They also tell me to eat better, drink more water and to exercise more. I've been doing all those things but nothing has helped. Sometimes I feel like im being dramatic because they act like it's nothing but it's been affecting my life so much.

I feel so defeated. I had to leave work today because of a migraine. It got so bad to the point where I threw up and I felt like I was about to pass out. The pain was actually unbearable. I didn't want to go here but maybe I need to see a female doctor? I've only ever been to male doctors and I feel like they don't take me seriously. I know that I need to advocate for myself but I don't really know how to. I've explained my symptoms over and over but no one takes me seriously.

Is it acceptable to leave work because of a migraine?

I'm 25f and I've been struggling with migraines for a while now. I've been to the doctors multiple times and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. Honestly, everytime they pretty much brush it off and just prescribe me pain killers. I was working earlier today and i got a really bad migraine. I usually push through these migraines when I'm at work but this one was really bad. I took some pain killers and it didn't help at all. I threw up because of it and I actually felt like I was going to pass out. I was feeling so horrible. I asked my boss if I could take the rest of the day off and he sounded annoyed but he agreed. When I got home I took some more pain killers and then took a nap on my couch. I woke up a few hours later and I took some more pain killers. I feel so much better now but I felt bad for leaving work. I had a lot of important stuff to do today and I feel like I left my team hanging. I've been working full time for over 4 years now and this is the first sick day that I've ever taken. I think I made the right decision but I also feel a little guilty about it.

Weight lifting has helped so much with my self harm urges

I'm 25f and I started weight lifting around 9 months ago. I only started because I wanted to lose weight and build muscle but it ended up helping so much with my self harm urges. My mental health has gotten better and my urges have decreased ever since I started. I think it's because the pain from lifting also releases endorphins that makes you feel good. Sometimes when I have urges I would go to the gym and do a quick workout session. Most of the time it helps but I also have to be careful to not overdo it so I don't end up hurting myself. It's not foolproof. There are times where my urges are too strong and it doesn't help but for the most part it does help. I also have to be careful not to "over exercise" because I think thay would just be another form of self harm. This might not work for everyone but it's what helping me right now.

Started having joint pain while lifting and it's affecting my workouts

I'm 25f and I've been strength training for about 9 months now. Recently my joints started hurting while lifting. Specifically, in my elbows and knees. For example, my elbows started hurting while doing exercise like chest press and tricep extensions. My knees also hurt when doing exercise like leg press and hack squats. I've been doing these exercises for a while. When I first started I didn't experience any pain. I only have pain in my joints when I'm lifting. I feel completely fine when I'm not. It got pretty bad a few days ago and I had to stop my workout because of it. I did get this checked out last month and my doctor kind of brushed it off and said that I was fine but the pain continued. I don't think that the issue is my form. I check my form multiple times while working out and I also have other people check it for me. It appears to be fine. I'm not sure what to do about this.

Edit: when lifting I do not count reps. I usually do the heaviest weight I can lift and I go until failure. I usually do 2 reps until failure of each exercise. Idk if this helps.

I went from working at startup companies to a support role in a finance company and it was the best decision that I've ever made

I'm 25f and I'm a software engineer. I have 4.5 years of experience. I've worked at start up companies for 4 years of my career. At first it was really fun and exciting but it quickly became stressful. As you may know, startup culture can be intense and fast paced. I was stressed out all the time and I was working some crazy hours. It began to affect both my mental and physical health. I was slowly losing my mind working at those companies. A lot of the companies were understaffed and they compensated by overworking their current workers. I'm so greatful for all the experience I got from working at those companies. I learned a lot and met some really great people but I needed to move on for my own sake.

Now I work as a software engineer in a finance company. It's mainly a support role. I'm in charge of automating any of the process that they need and maintain the current accounting software that they use. Sometimes, they ask me to build new things from scratch. Recently, they asked me to build a system to replace one of the 3rd party software that they use and that kept me busy for like a month. This environment is so a lot slower paced. It's definitely more boring than my previous jobs but I don't mind that. I actually start work at 9 a.m. and I finish work at 5 p.m. I'm not up working at crazy hours every night trying to get everything done on time. There are some days where I don't really have any work to do and then some days where I'm really busy. They also hired enough people for each team and they don't overwork us. I have more of a work life balance now. I'm doing so much better, both mentally and physically. My last job was actually making me sick.

The salary at the finance company is less than what I got paid working for startup companies. I also have less benefits like free gym memberships, free lunches, free subscriptions etc. I still think I made the right decision. Like the only benefit I really care for is health insurance anyways. I love my boring job at the finance company and I think it was the best decision I've ever made.

Growing up my favorite Disney princess was Merida because she was the only one that didn't end up with a man

I hate most Disney princess movies while growing up because most of them were love stories and they always ended up with a man. While all the other girls my age were obsessed with all the Disney princes, I hated them. I always thought they were annoying and cringy. I used to cover my eyes every time I saw the prince and princess kiss because it felt wrong to me. My favorite Disney princess movie was Brave and that's because it was the only movie where the princess did not end up with a man. I was obsessed with it. I was 10 years old and I used to watch that movie almost every day. Also, looking back I definitely had a crush on Merida. Like I wanted to be her and be with her at the same time. Anyways, I can't believe I didn't realize I was gay sooner.

This meal was really good and really filling. Trust me, it tasted a lot better than it looks. I had to weigh everything twice because it felt like it had way more calories than it actually did

I'm 25 and I feel like my life is already over

I'm 25f and I know that I'm still young but I feel like my life is already over. I just feel like I have noting more to look forward to in life. Everything just feels so dull and empty. The things is I have a pretty good life. I have a good job, I'm working in getting ny masters degree, I have friends and family that care about me, I'm really into fitness and I go to the gym 4-5 time a week, I have a lot of hobbies and things that I'm interested in. I don't know what it is but I can't shake this feeling. Sometimes I feel like im a waste of space. Like I'm just here using up resources and I've I were to disappear it wouldn't make much of a difference.

I feel so alone. I have friends and family but I'm not really close with anyone. I don't have anyone that I could talk to or anyone that I could lean on for emotional support. I'm 25 and I've never been in a relationship. I've never ever kissed anyone before. I don't know what it's like to be in love or to be loved. It's mainly because I'm gay and I live in a really homophobic country. Dating here can be difficult. It's not impossible but it's really, really hard. I used to be so motivated. I used to have all these dreams and aspirations in life but now I feel like it's so out of reach. Like what's the point of even trying anymore. I'm sorry this is a really depressing post. This has been weighing on me for a while. No matter what I do I can't seem to shake this feeling.

I love boobs but I absolutely hate mine

I'm 25f and I love looking at boobs. I love it on other women. I get turned on by boobs but I absolutely hate how it looks on me. My boobs are on the bigger side and I hate it. Sometimes I wish I could just chop them off. I love being a woman but I've always hated this part of my body. I just find it so impractical. I can even wear a t-shirt without it looking weird. I was talking to a friend about this earlier and she said that I was crazy. I understand that I'm complaining because my boobs are too big but it's just how I feel. I'm actually very feminine and I love everything about my body except my boobs. I've tried using sports bras in a smaller size to make it look smaller and it didn't help very much. It actually was quite painful and made it hard to breathe after a while. Sigh, I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm weird for thinking like this. Like how can I love it on other women but hate it on myself?? Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant about my big boobs.

Today I realized how important it is to be gentle with yourself when having urges

I'm 25f and I've been self harming since I was 14. I'm around 2 months clean. I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. I would always feel guilty and beat myself up for simply having urges. Urges are hard to deal with and I think it's one of the worst feelings ever. I had really bad urges today. I almost relapsed. I sat on the floor of my bathroom for an hour with the thing I use to self harm in my hand and I contemplated whether to do it or not. I almost gave in but I didn't. Instead I decided to leave my house so that I wouldn't be home alone.

I went for a walk. I still had those urges but I told myself that I wasn't allowed to go home until the urges have passed. I decided to give myself grace for once in my life. I told myself that it's okay to have these urges and the main thing is that I didn't give into it. I walked around for about an hour and then I started to get hungry. I've been trying to eat healthy but I decided to eat from my favorite taco place. When I got home I took a hot shower and I put on some comfy clothes and now I'm in bed at 7 p.m. I had other responsibilities to do after work today but I decided to put myself first for once.

I feel so much better. The urges have passed and I'm so happy that I didn't give into those urges this time. I think it's important to be gentle with yourself and give yourself grace when having urges. And maybe eat at your favorite taco place? I know how emotionally exhausting it can be and that it's easier said than done but it helped me this time.

Stress is my biggest trigger and my life is so stressful at the moment

I'm 25f and I've struggled with self harm since I was 14. Stress has always been one of my biggest triggers because I don't know how else to deal with it. I'm under a lot of stress right now. I have a really stressful job. I'm also dealing with a lot of family issues and personal issues on top of that. It's a lot and it's really overwhelming. The more stressed I am, the more intense my urges get. I know that self harm would help me get the kind of relief I need right now. But I also know that it's not a healthy way to cope and why I shouldn't do it. The urges are just too strong right now and I don't know what to do. Nothing else has helped and I just need some kind of relief.

[Update] I've lost 43 lbs but I think I need to reevaluate my diet because I feel horrible

You can view my last post here

I just wanna say thank you for all the advice I got on my last post. It was really helpful and I realized what I was doing what unhealthy and that I was making myself sick. I'm now 166 lbs. I lost 2 lbs last week which was great but I've changed my diet since then because I was feeling so horrible.

When first started this diet my main goal was to lose weight so I can look better but also be healthier. When I started off, my plan was to work out 3 - 4 days a week, stay in a calorie deficit and just eat as clean as I possibly can. I lost weight but it was slower than I wanted it to be. I started doing more research and I went down a rabbit hole of all these fitness people online. I was listening to all these people that told me that it would be fine to eat one meal a day and that fasting is the fastest way to lose weight. That I shouldn't eat fruits because it's high in sugar, I shouldn't eat carbs if I want to lose fat, that I should avoid nuts because it's high in calories. I started obsessing over these things to the point where it became unhealthy. I was so worried about accidentally going over my calorie limit for the day to the point where I was serverly under eating and it was making me sick.

I'm trying to fix my diet right now and I think most importantly my mindset. I stopped intermittent fasting and I started eating at any time of the day once I'm hungry. If I get off work at 8 p.m, then I'll eat dinner at 8 p.m. I also started eating more carbs. I went from eating between 20g - 50g of carbs to 130g - 150g of carbs. I also stopped under eating and skipping meals. I added more fruits and vedgetables to my diet. I'm also eating at maintainace right now. I went from eating less than 1500 calories to around 2000 calories. The first day was really hard. It's been months since I've eaten that much and I felt horrible. I felt nauseous, bloated and really gassy.

I thought I was doing something wrong but I kept at it. The second day was better and now I'm only 4 days in and I feel so much better. My energy levels are up. I can focus better, I've been sleeping better and I just feel great. Carbs are so important. Shout out to the person on my last post that told me I should eat a banana before the gym because it helped so much. I had so much more energy during my work out. I usually drink a cup of black coffee before working out and my workouts would be really hard. I think now I just need to get over some of the mental challenges. I'm eating better but I still feel guilty about it. Like I'm doing something wrong. I'm actually scared to weigh myself at the end of this week because I feel like I'm going to gain weight. I'm trying to fix my mindset but it's not easy.

I still don't think that fasting is bad or that the OMAD diet is bad or that the keto diet is bad. Fasting has helped me lose 43 lbs. I think different people just need different things. Right now, I think i just need to listen to my body. I'm going to continue eating at maintainace for about 2 weeks and then I'm going to go back on a deficit. I'm still trying to figure out what that deficit would be but I'm thinking around 1700 calories. I'm not going to stress about what foods I eat but I'm still going to try to eat as clean as possible. Anyways, this sub has helped me a lot and again thanks for all the advice I got on my last post.

I'm trying to fix my eating habits and my parents aren't very supportive. I just need some support from parents that are actually supportive.

I'm 25f and I've started my weight-loss journey 9 months ago. I haven't been as consistent but I've still lost 43lbs so far. When I first started my main goal was to be healthier but lately I realized that my eating habits have gotten a bit disorderly. I've lost like 90% of the weight in the last 3 months and I hate to say this but it was because I was over exercising and barely eating. I was skipping meals and obsessing over my calories. It becoming unhealthy and I was making myself sick.

I only realized what I was doing when I almost passed out a couple days ago due to not eating enough. I've also been feeling so horrible lately. My energy has been low, I've been having horrible brain fog and I've just been feeling really bad. I was following all these fitness people online that told me it's fine to skip meals and that it's fine to only eat one meal a day. I thought what I was doing was fine but I was really hurting myself.

I'm determined to fix this and I am going to. I had 3 full meals today. The thing is, I'm currently staying with my parents and they aren't very supportive of me eating more. They loved that I've lost weight and have been complimenting me on it a lot. They think that I should stick to my diet. I tried explaining to them that it's not sustainable but they don't get it. All they care about is me losing weight because they think I look better. My mom literally commented on every meal I had today and she made me feel so guilty for eating.

It's not like I was overeating or anything like that. I had some Greek yogurt with a little bit of granola for breakfast, I had a banana before the gym, for lunch I made some sweet potato and grill chicken and for dinner I had a spinach wrap with some ground turkey, lettuce and tomato. That was literally all I ate today. I think it was fine and I ate well balanced meals but they are making me feel guilty for it when I already feel guilty about it. It's just really hard and I need some support from parents that are actually supportive.

Would it be a good idea to come out to my religious best friend of 12 years?

My friend and I both (25f) have been been best friends since we were 13. She's more like my sister. She knows everything about my except that I'm gay. I've known that I liked women since I was like 14 years old. I've never told her because I've always been afraid that she would reject me. She's Muslim and very religious. I know how their religion feels about gay people. It's tricky because she's always been very progressive and she's never done or said anything homophobic. I think she would accept me but at the same time I'm still so scared. Like what if she doesn't accept me? Then I would end up ruining one of the most important relationships in my life. I'm just so tired of lying to her. She would also be the first person that I would ever be coming out to and it's just scary. I almost came out to her last night but I chickened out. I don't know what to do. I want to come out to her but I'm afraid that she won't accept me.

I've lost 43 lbs but I think I need to reevaluate my diet because I feel horrible

I'm 25f, 5"6 and I was 211 lbs last year October and I'm now 168 lbs. My goal is 130 lbs and I have a long way to go. I currently eat 1500 calories a day and I aim to lose between 1 to 1.5 lbs a week. I do intermittent fasting from 8pm to 12pm the next day. I'm currently following a low carb diet. Like very low carbs. I also work out 6 days a week. I do strength training and 30 minutes of cardio after. I also aim to hit 10k steps a day. This diet worked for a while but lately I've been feeling so exhausted. My energy has been so low lately and i just haven't been felling well. It got to the point where I almost passed out yesterday during my fasting period and it was because I barely ate the day before.

I take fasting very seriously. Sometimes I would get off work late and forget to eat dinner. If it's after 8pm I would refuse to eat anything even if I'm hungry. Same with lunch. I work through lunch sometimes and I don't end up eating anything until around 3pm. So lately I've been mostly eating one meal a day. A lot of the time I end up substituting a meal with a protein bar or a protein shake. I'm not doing this on purpose. I know that food is fuel and that I literally need it to survive. I've been so busy lately and I haven't had much time to meal prep or to make myself food. So I've just been not eating instead of buying fast food and going over my calorie limit for the day.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm still losing weight but I feel awful. Like do I stop fasting while still staying within my calorie limit? Do I continue working out 6 days a week? Should I change my fast period? Do I eat normally for 6 days and just fast for an entire day? I tried doing some research online and it got so overwhelming. I got contradicting advice from all of these fitness people online and now I'm just confused. I don't know what to do now. I'm glad that I'm still losing weight but I hate the way i feel right now.

I live in a homophobic country. Would other lesbians recognize this bracelet without outing myself to everyone else?

Basically I live in a pretty homophobic country. Homosexuality is still technically illegal here. I say technically because it is illegal but it is not enforced. They are openly gay people here that are in relationships and there is a community (a very small one but it exists). I'm not out yet and it's mainly for safety reasons. My family would freak out if they ever found out. I'm an adult but I still live at home (it's normal for adults to live with their parents until they get married here). Anyways, as you can imagine, dating here is very difficult. It's hard to know if someone is gay and if I make a move on the wrong person then it's over for me. Basically, I want other lesbians to be able to tell that I'm also a lesbian without everyone else knowing. That's why I was thinking about making a friendship bracelet similar to this one and just wear it all the time. I'm pretty sure most people here don't know what the lesbian flag looks like unless they're a part of the community. What do you guys think? Would this be a good idea?

I'm 25 years old and the pressure of my parents relying on my financially is killing me

I'm 25f and I work as a software engineer. I've been helping my family out financially since I was 21 and I got my first job out of college. I love my family and I'm greatful to be in a position where I can help them out financially but that also comes with a lot of pressure. As you can imagine, the job market for anyone in tech hasn't been great lately. I got laid off last year because the company I worked for shutdown. It was so stressful and I was more concerned about my parents that I was about myself. I feel like my parents rely on my a little to much. They rely on me to help them with rent and bills etc. I'm happy to do that but it stresses me out so much and I can't even talk to them about it.

When I got laid off last year I was more concerned about how my parents were going to pay their rent and bills than I was about myself. I also have my own bills and rent to pay but I cared more about them. I work for a pretty good company right now. I've been at this company for only 5 months and it has been going pretty well so far. The uncertainty of the job market still scares me. It stresses me out so much. I worry about my parents a lot. I worry about what would happen to them I was was out of a job for a while. It makes me so anxious to the point where it's affecting my life and I don't know how to stop worrying about it.
