How to reintroduce dairy

After my last post and seeing some of what I took for a possible dairy intolerance might just be behavior separation anxiety, my doctor is good with me re- introducing dairy now at 6.5 months instead of waiting until 9. The nurse on the line didn’t have any further guidance besides do it slow…

I’ve seen mentions of a dairy ladder or tolerance tests. Can someone help point me in the right direction? I’m assuming I would first try dairy in my own diet and watch for (fussy? Spit up? Abnormal poo?) then if it’s going well let her try the dairy.

I’m the only one able to hold baby

And I’m not kidding. 95% of the time she (6 months) will cry within 10 seconds of someone else holding her, including my husband. On the rare chance it’s more than 30 seconds, it’s always less than 10min.

Does this sound like an actual dairy allergy, or something else? It’s been this way 2 months, but before that she was such a chill along for the ride baby.

She got sick right before her 4 month shot appointment, then sick again after and non stop fuss, dropped some weight, then better but kept fussing, so dr had me cut dairy. 3 days later she was calm, but only in my arms. Everyone comments how alert and happy she is, and she is, as long as I’m holding her.

I’m just at a loss, her sleep has been horrible too and any break I get is because my husband holds her for the hour crying while I do something. I’m just not sure if it’s actually a dairy thing or not. 10 days after I cut dairy I brought a diaper in and it was negative for blood. (She’s always been slow to gain weight and poops every 3 or so days). She’s lately been refusing the bottle and spits up more on formula so I’m ebf at this point even though she had a bottle a day since day 1.

Just feeling tired, overwhelmed, and lost. And honestly, I really want my cheese.

Do we ever sleep through the night?

I’m waking up every 2-3 hours to feed 6.5 month baby and feel like I’m slowly losing my mind. She used to sleep a 5-7 hour first stint until we hit the 4 month regression. Tried co sleeping, but honestly slept even worse. Moved bassinet into the closet for some separation but didn’t seem to help. Don’t love the CIO method but getting to the point I need to do something. Won’t go back to sleep without nursing to sleep…

How do I get her to sleep longer at a time?? Do I ever get her to sleep 8-12 hours straight while breastfeeding or would I always need to pump?

Baby rolling to belly at night and screaming

Baby is 6 months and has been a side sleeper forever. She first learned how to roll back to belly (probably because she would curl on her side to sleep) and isn’t yet doing belly to back. I realized during tummy time too she rarely puts her head on the ground even when she was a newborn; she’s good at tummy time for a while but when she’s done she’s done and cries hard.

The problem is at night she’ll shift and roll to her belly and it’s immediate crying, push ups or swimming position, will not settle. If I flip her back to her back or side, bum pats, bouncing/rocking, anything she just gets more and more worked up. The only way to get her calm and back to sleep is to feed to sleep… If I put her bed before she’s fully out at night or naps, she also immediately rolls to her belly and screams.

Any help or advice? I kinda fussed it out with my first, but she’s 0 to 60 on her belly in bed and works herself up the longer she’s left…

Sibling co sleeping

Is that a thing anymore? I remember my mom growing up with stories of multiple kids in a room, and bed sharing when they were little too. I know part of it is economic/privilege.

We’ve been getting my son ready to share his room once his sister is about 1 and he will be almost 3.5. He is really set on her sleeping in his crib with him (might have originally been confused on what her moving into his room meant but now he’s instant). Is it crazy to consider it? Is it even safe?

We have a twin floor bed with railings on all sides we’re setting up soon for him to switch so the crib can be ready once she sleeps through the night. He sleeps in a sleep sack with 2 teddy bears- no blanket or pillows.

ETA: when he starts kindergarten we do plan to separate them into their own rooms

Eggs had milk…what to expect?

I went out to eat and got the eggs…I didn’t specifically ask if they had milk or not just about the bread. Called to check and they do…how can I expect baby to react or anything to look for? Will it take 3 weeks to fully clear our systems again??? So mad at myself I’ve been so careful.

We just started solids so some carrot puree will be in her system too.

Can’t over feed a baby

With milk no… but what about solids?

Baby is 5.5 months and we’re starting purées on recommendation of her doctor (tummy issues, reflux, and slow weight gain). And she is LOVING it! Brining spoon to her mouth to chew, but we’re also spoon feeding to make sure she’s getting some extra calories.

Like a baby bird she rooting to the spoon and just wants more and more, and has loved all 4 foods we tried. I usually cut her off, but should I?

We do plan to start full BLW when she’s sitting more independently (but might still do some spoon feeding for calories for reasons mentioned above).

Help with Deaf culture question

Please tell me if I’m off the mark and this is not appropriate.

TLDR; how do I find an ASL learning friend for my toddler hearing son

I would like to post on my local Facebook page looking for other kids who actively sign. I’ve tried to look for the Deaf community or any local resources but have not found them in google searches. How do I approach the question and phrase it as to not offend?

My kid (2) has a severe speech delay but is excelling at learning vocabulary with me (both hearing). It started as doing signs for him as a baby and we just continued to add more. I’d love to find him a friend who also signs and for him to see and experience the real language. I would like to continue learning alongside him and am planning to do the life print class online as well as Oklahoma’s asl course as well to actually understand the grammar and language as a culture since I’m mainly signing vocab in an English order.

Onbuhimo on front

At what age would you wear a baby in an onbuhimo on your chest? I know they are designed for back carries, but I’m thinking my 5 month old would be ok since I can monitor her breathing. She’s great at supported sitting (won’t put her arms down long enough to tripod) and excellent head control.

I’ll be tandem wearing with my 2.5 toddler so I’m thinking the carrier with the waist would support his weight better, and then I don’t have a double waist belt.

Newly cutting dairy poo question

Did your baby have diarrhea from the change and how long did it take to be back to normal poo?

Only cut a week ago, but I need to bring a diaper into the office to test and all week there hasn’t been enough solid in it to bring in. She’s constantly been a poo every 3 days and that’s continued this week too

Beforehand I ate a LOT of cheese…

No e-ink

Just got one and unfortunately the page refresh just does not work for me, the flashes start to trigger a migraine.

I have an iPad but really want a single small lightweight device solely for reading, especially so my kid can see it’s something just for reading and not just sitting on my phone. Any suggestions?

ETA: got the kindle kids. Just setting up and signing in and I feel sick. Made sure refresh is not on for every page. Looking for a backlit screen like an iPad but cheaper and smaller

Travel car seat

Growing out of the cosco screna (his head is less than an inch from the top, plus baby sister will use it now) and looking for a car seat that is solely for travel and grandparents car. Kid is 30lbs and 37in at 2.5yo appt.

-affordable under $200
-lightweight (biggest factor)
-rear facing as long as possible, but ok with forward only if that’s what it is
-doesn’t need to last forever or be convertible, but great if it lasts until booster stage

Could my body forget how to pump?

I took two weeks off pumping and bottles while baby 5months was sick and before I would get about 3oz average, I just got 1oz…

Could my body need to relearn to respond to the spectra? I’ve used it at least once daily since she was born and worked so hard to be able to have a full supply and now I’m panicking it’s suddenly dropped.

When she first got sick she was not eating well (like 5min one side every 2 hours vs her normal 15min both sides every 2), so I’m worried that dropped it if too much time went by? I thought with nursing my body would know better what she needed to get her through it.

Help! All I eat is cheese

Cutting all dairy from my diet for my baby for possible milk protein allergy (so lactose free is still a no go). Give me all your best snack ideas or meals please!

95% of my meals or snacks have cheese…so I really need to keep my calories up. Ordered some plant based protein powder at least!

Cutting dairy help

Please share your favorite snacks or recipes or any help!

It’s been recommended we try cutting dairy for my 5 month old girl. We worked so hard to get a full supply, and although I LOVE cheese, I want to give it a go.

I’m not kidding when I say dairy is in almost every single meal and snack I eat…

Sleeping through the night?

My first was 100% bottles, and around 9 months I started lowering how much I offered and mixed with extra water to make it taste bad. In a week or two, he stopped waking up and was sleeping 12 hours.

When does that happen with breastfed babies? How do you stop too?

She currently 4 months. We do 2 fortified bottles a day to help with weight gain, so I’m a little concerned about not feeding at night for that (but also considered moving a bottle overnight so my husband can do it).

I’m just so tired. Around 3-5am I’m bringing her into bed, because I’m too tired to feed sitting. But then I don’t sleep restfully if she’s in bed either.

Offering the boob is a high offense

Anyone else’s baby start yelling if you try and feed them and they don’t want it?

Like as soon as I start to tilt her sideways yells, upright calms down. Like a switch. Or if she’s eating and done with that side/overall, starts crying to let me know. But seems satisfied as soon as she’s off the boob upright, or laying down, or sitting.

Does mom brain go away?

I’m 4 months pp with my second and feel like my brain is mush. I’ll start having a conversation with my husband about something we discussed less than an hour ago. I feel like my processing speed is so slow. My problem solving is crap. I can’t absorb as much while reading anymore. My memory is gone. Like I used to be an intelligent person, and now my IQ has significantly lowered. I don’t remember it being nearly this bad with my first!

Please tell me it gets better.
