Classic Marvel Figurine Collection issue 77

"Robert Reynolds is, and always has been, Sentry—or so they say. Nick Abadzis explores the powers and mind of a fragile hero with explosive power.

Everyone knows Sentry. He's the guy who... the one who... but what exactly did he do? Oh yeah! He preceded the Fantastic Four and was one of Marvel's first superheroes. With the introduction of Robert Reynolds into the stable, the Marvel Universe was reshaped to adapt it to one of its most powerful heroes. Sentry Reynolds himself claims to have fought alongside the Fantastic Four, to have inspired Spider-Man, and to have been a friend of the X-Men. He remembers him as a truly golden man, but it's hard for him to really remember. To the rest of the world, he's a new hero! The fact that he appears a somewhat simple-minded good man, with an image that doesn't appeal to the public, and as long as he's seen as a kind soul who rescues the innocent from the clutches of villains, his popularity is assured. But why don't we remember his weight? Is it simply a side effect of his immense powers? On the surface, Robert is—and apparently always has been—perfectly self-assured, a superman, with a lot of charisma and a plethora of high ranks.

facts, which earned him everyone's admiration. In a sense, he too is a super-soldier, in the style of Captain America, and like him, gained his powers by absorbing a chemical preparation. But the difference is that this serum—a thousand times more concentrated than the one Steve Rogers absorbed—gave him almost immeasurable powers. It's the power of a thousand molten atoms, which, considering that a super-movement in our galactic neighborhood would wipe out all life on Earth, is truly unimaginable. Sentry has all the powers of a celestial superhero, abilities. In terms of strength, he is on par with the Hulk, with whom he recently fought, despite their friendship. He also has the ability to absorb solar energy, which further increases his strength. He flies, although it is unknown how. And very quickly: he can reach the Sun (which is not bad considering it takes nine minutes for light to travel to Earth). This suggests that he is capable of reaching speeds that allow him interstellar travel: on this point, we can compare him to Galactus, who also reaches superhuman speed in the realm of thought and can also construct objects from raw light. He has been seen catching beautiful creatures like flies, even without a protective suit. Reynolds has amazing abilities

His inventive abilities are perhaps superior to those of Tony Stark Reed Richards. His extraordinary Watchtower, bound of technology, proves it, a sentient computer, like CLOC, whose possibilities are immense.

As for his psychic abilities, they are very great, but do not belong to the same type as those of powerful telepaths like Professor Xavier or Emma Frost. He can even let himself be put in difficult situations by talking. In reality, his powers often end up thwarting his physical powers, and that's the problem. In a sense, it is Robert Reynolds' great humility that is at the root of both his powers and his problems, including the planet's general memory failure. Many superheroes have a yin to their yang, usually a deadly enemy who highlights their qualities through a simple play of contrast. Sentry, however, has good reason to fear his own shadow, since he is, in fact, his own worst enemy. Vaid is indeed a dark manifestation of his own subconscious, and in order to triumph over it, Sentry erases for all of humanity the memory of both its good and bad aspects. This fundamental distrust of himself and of Kummerme is terrible, even monstrous. It is possible, in fact, that Earth knows no greater evil than Sentry himself."
