Silver discovers Islam commissioned from u/RaccoonIG12

The joke is iblis from 06 shares the exact name as iblis from Islam

This isn’t making fun of Islam, it’s making fun of how sega used the exact same name lol

Silver doesn’t solo sonic

I’ve seen plenty of people, on this sub Reddit and parts of the wider community claim that silver beats sonic, not just can beat, but that he always wins, will always be in, that he counters him, no diffs him, solos every possibly version of saying he 100% beats him

And not only is that annoying, it’s also not true

Silver beat sonic in 06, you can get into semantics about Sonic being distracted, Sonic beating silver and then getting cheap shotted, but yes Sonic did lose

But do you know who else Sonic lost to? Knuckles, Eggman, Shadow, GUN, Mephiles, and more

But then sonic beats those people, he beat knuckles, he can destroy any gun robot, and Eggman loses to him all the time

And guess what happened in their last fight in generations, where silver fought Sonic

Silver lost. He lost against Sonic.

And here’s the thing, that’s perfectly fine!

Characters don’t have some rock paper scissors or meta stats or card game mechanics to decide who wins, silver CAN beat Sonic, and Sonic CAN beat silver

Just like how Eggman CAN beat Sonic, or how knuckles CAN beat Sonic

Silver’s value as a character, the reason he is liked shouldn’t be based around the incorrect idea that “oh he would always solo he gets nerfed by sega!” Because that’s the least interesting thing about silver and also not true

Silver is interesting in his optimism, his hope, and while he has cool powers and seeing him do cool things is cool, he isn’t some aura farming machine that would crush Sonic’s heart in a nano second if sega would just let him

He’s a character, not a power set, I don’t love psychokinesis, I don’t love Sonic getting soloed or no diffed or whatever term used for losing, I love silver the hedgehog, and that’s what I want to see more of, not the powers, the character

What do you think of Eggman Nega?

Eggman Nega is a sort of awkward aspect of the franchise, being rather contradictory in retcons and lacking in relevance (although that can be used to describe plenty of characters)

However he’s also perhaps the only villain in the series except for Eggman himself to be described as a reoccurring villain

(I do not count generations in terms of something being reoccurring, the whole point of they when is time travel celebration)

The primary aspect of his character is that he seeks world destruction, not world domination, however that’s only really interesting in contrasting Eggman’s own desires. It doesn’t really stand on its own for an interesting goal outside of that.

What is interesting is his willingness for that to include himself and be at the cost of himself, although in fairness it would be stupid for him to plan to live in a destroyed world and therefore have any self preservation beyond ensuring he can enact his plan

However he also has a lot of things that leave me lacking personally

His design mostly works, I’m a sucker for black and yellow, although I would say his boots and pants look kinda weird when you focus on them, but in general it’s strong

His origins however are the most issue intense, as it’s unclear if he’s a alternate dimension Eggman, or one from the future

I would say it makes more sense for him to be from the future, given how sol dimension counterparts are not pallet swapped versions of Sonic world characters, however I don’t see why blaze should have her villain removed for that reason

However his main issue is…he effectively isn’t different from eggman.

Like yes they have different goals, they would get in the way of each other, but tell me this, if you replace Eggman with Eggman nega, how many stories change?

The only one I can think of would be SA2, since he would just destroy the world immediately, and especially not help the heroes stop Gerald’s plan from going through

Outside of that in general the plots would remain mostly the same, he lacks a real sense of distinction between what he plans vs what Eggman plans

I do think he can be a great villain though, I just think his schemes should have more distance from what Eggman does, so you can more easily tell when Eggman’s planning something and when Eggman Nega is doing something

If you have to really look for a difference in what they’re doing, then they’re functionally the same, and if they are what purpose does Eggman Nega have?

I hope the writers can, like every other character, give more to Eggman Nega in the future, make him more distinct to Eggman himself, make him more able to stand on his own (although at that I think he does a good job) and of course, allow Blaze to face off against her own villain, with their own dynamic, and their own stories for use to appreciate

I dislike 06 heavily (SHOCKING OPINION!!)

She sucks in that game, dies for nothing in the game, and is still called back to that game

I hate it, I hate it a lot! >:(

Iblis is probably the weakest character wise, despite also being one of the most destructive power wise, villains in sonic media

However they are confirmed to my knowledge to still be sealed into Blaze, which raises a question.

Should that be used in the future? Obviously none of us make any decisions in sega, but we do all have the right to an opinion and perspective on the matter.

And mine, is no. Iblis shouldn’t be.

This is because of 2 main reasons

1: they aren’t interesting. Iblis is the weakest villain in their game, even when compared to Solaris which barely appeared and Eggman who was in one of his own weakest appearances, and of course mephiles.

Iblis doesn’t exist as a character, they exist as a consequence, they are at best a element swapped perfect chaos without anything that made chaos interesting or notable

In order to change that, you might as well just make a new character, as Iblis does not exist to have a character

2: more 06…

Blaze needs to progress past that, I can accept her and silver working and being paired together (when it makes sense) as sega has worked to have their friendship still exist, through colors DS and other media

But having Iblis become relevant again is just too much for too little in return

Imagine Sonic Rush 3 is about Iblis, a “villain” already defeated, that’s from Blaze’s worst game, and that’s what’s being focused on next

Blaze needs new things, a new villain especially with the mess that eggman Nega is (and who is believe is also dead? Would have to check) to have Iblis take that role, or even really be part of that plot would just further tie her to her worst appearance for the sake of what?

I see no way for Iblis to be used interestingly, or even be interesting without fundamental changes to what Iblis is, and in return would force blaze to have to be further tied to her worst game, rather than expanding on something from the Rush games, or something completely new, both of which would be immensely preferred over a nothing villain from a objectively horrible game that blaze doesn’t deserve to have define her anymore, or at all
