I'm working on building a [[Thranduil, The Elven King]] deck. Given the high value of legendary elves, I'm looking at some of my cards that copy creatures. I don't usually play that kind of thing so I want to be sure I understand how they interact.
*Edit: a few replies seem to think I am copying Thranduil himself. No, the plan more generally is to copy a different legendary elf that's on the board. Also I originally got the wording of Waxen Shapethief wrong.
Easiest: if I cast [[Waxen Shapethief]], it "enters as a copy" of a creature or artifact you control. I choose a legendary elf (not Thranduil). I expect that means it will trigger Thranduil's card draw ability, then I can chose to move the existing elf to the graveyard. I get to add that elf's activated abilities to Thranduil's lineup and I have a copy still on the board.
Trickier: I seem to remember that merely copying a creature aka "create a token that's a copy of a creature" does not trigger ETB effects of the copied creature or other triggers related to a creature ETB. This is how [[Cackling Counterpart]] is worded. Though, it would still allow me to move the original elf to the graveyard and keep the copy.
Pretty sure I understand: token copies are still tokens, so their CMC is zero, but their color identity is the same.
However
it was my kid, so I'm proud.
I designed the deck he used so I kind of kicked my own ass.
Overall I'm pleased with my weight loss. It's definitely trending down and I can feel the difference in a few ways. However, my weight chart is really spikey, as you can see. I don't always weigh every day, and I know some people only do once a week or so. But I swear the difference between days is bowel movement related. That or if I drink alcohol (which I have cut way back on), though not always. Any others with similar situations? Any advice?
Season of the Shits
Well, it's happening again. A couple of years ago I was facing a layoff and posted here to see if anyone had advice on where to look for HFC/Fiber design jobs. Got info about places I've never heard of. I actually ended up retaining that job but now the central office has decided to consolidate and my team is just done.
Anyone have any leads on either remote work or things in the Charlotte area? Thanks again. I can do 2-3D CAD, too.
I went to Mox on Friday night and played in a Chaos Draft. And then I came back on Saturday and played a 3.5 hour game of commander. Y'all were great if you're seeing this. Great group, store, and inventory! I've never even had a chance to buy Tarkir or Bloomburrow where I'm from. And I pulled a Three Tree City, so there's that. And I'll be returning home a hero with new Pokemon product as well.
Oh and apparently there's a place in Beloit called Warren Wizards, but guys if you're seeing this, you gotta get on the MTG Companion app and get an events page on your website, I honestly didn't know it existed.

Hey y'all, I'm visiting family in the area this weekend and I want to get my game on. Looks like there are a couple of options to play Friday nights: Mox and Kryptonite. I'm planning to bring a commander deck but I like drafting as well. Not a super competitive player, I just want to have fun. Thanks!
It's a [[Blech, Loafing Pest]] deck. Basic concept is life gain early and often to buff almost all the creatures and tokens in the deck. Wincons are mostly mass buff/trample stompdowns. It goldfishes OK as far as I can tell. My main concern at the moment is card draw. [[Terrasymbiosis]] looks great but I was trying to get away with what I have instead of another $12-20 card. Not sure how visible it is but the Maybeboard tab is full of cards I've trimmed or considered, some of which I have already.
I lied, this is easily one of the best posts of the year. Sorry I didn't get the original poster it was on an aggregator account.
Working on a Blech deck and saw this card:

There are four different printings, all with the same name, abilities, and stats. However, only the most recent one from Tarkir Dragonstorm is typed as "Snake Wizard". The other three are "Naga Wizard". The Oracle text only says "Snake Wizard". Has it been errataed into a snake type for all printings?
I AM A COG IN THE MACHINE
I have seen basically none of his work but greedily watched this entire series. It's three videos long, with a total runtime of about 4 hrs. At this point I firmly believe that WH is one of the funniest people to ever live. Referring to him as "Clinically Sane" is a stroke of artistic genius.
These are paint pallete knives aka paint knives. I've been using one the shape of pictured #2 for going on 6 years and it's still perfectly functional. The edge is thin and flexible but not sharp. It can easily flex under purge and skirt lines with no issue but is difficult to hurt yourself with. Note the rounded profile, it serves both of those features. Now, to be clear, if you're chisling a 2kg block of plastic off the plate this isn't necessarily going to be the answer. But even in cases like that you can often get it under a corner and slide it along the edge to open up the surface.
This was recommended to me by a partial owner of a small 3D printer company and I feel like no one else ever talks about it. The set I found for this screenshot is like $5 on Amazon and there are lots of different sources and options out there. Happy printing!
I took out cash to pay the house cleaners last night at the Wells Fargo on N Tryon near Sugar Creek. Grabbed it and put it in my pocket, thought nothing of it. Apparently one of the bills is a movie fake. It's noticably smaller than the other bills and has the THIS IS FAKE stamp. Kinda surprised it got through whatever systems WF has. Just a heads up I guess, check your bills if you're getting cash.
Edit/Update: I haven't figured out how to effectively report this yet, and I'm not sure that I will given the amount of time following it's discovery. In the end it's just $20. Here are some additional facts:
Well, I guess two but if I only picked one it would be the sexiest man alive.
I'm just getting back into Magic after about 10-12 years. Started with MTGA so I could get familiar with the newer sets and mechanics, then dipping into draft events and some commander at my LGS. I have an old [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] ["Power Hungry" precon](https://moxfield.com/decks/O3zgKgwidEaOkEc0KeyRow) that I had barely used (seriously, there were probably 20+ cards I had never even held in hand before).
I like playing creature sacrifice and token decks, but the original build hasn't aged very well. After playing it a few times my take is 1) Too slow, not enough ramp and hard to establish anything in the first 3-5 turns. 2) Lots of the card abilities seem expensive compared to more recent versions 3) No Planeswalker removal 4) Old mechanics like fear don't seem very relevant anymore
I'm focusing on the "make cheap tokens, use them as a resource" thing as well as ETB effects that would trigger when waves of tokens drop. I ordered some cards that I found recommended in some old blogs as well as some that just seemed right or happened to pick up:
[[Searslicer Goblin]] cheap early card that can pop out tokens
[[Squee, the Immortal]] Cheap, basically permanent sacrifice fuel
[[Slash, Reptile Rampager]] does ETB damage and makes tokens
[[Impact Tremors]] seems like an obvious choice
[[Bastion of Remembrance]] another obvious choice?
[[Zulaport Cutthroat]] Again, why not?
[[Weftstalker Ardent]] Basically same, pulled one in a draft
[[Mayhem Devil]] pinging whenever I sacrifice AND when opponents!
[[Perforating Artist]] He's annoying and might make everyone hate me more?
[[Korvold, Fae-Cursed King]] Nice to have another dragon and he gets permamently stronger with sacrificed chumps
[[Nine-Lives Familiar]] Didn't buy it but pulled it randomly. Seems like an update to Endless Cockroaches but I could be wrong
[[Hero's Downfall]] Just in case of planeswalkers?
Any suggestions or feedback welcome. I am explicitly NOT building a [[Food Chain]] deck, I'm not that rich, fancy, or cruel.
