Where the hell does the "Star Wars was at it's lowest in the mid 80s-mid 90s" copium come from?

I've seen this sentiment on reddit and Facebook. Where does this come from??? It's usually in response to people saying the present post-Sequels content apocalypse is the worst Star Wars has ever been.

I can believe that there was a lull in that decade, sure. But in like 1993 (?), Heir to the Empire and Dark Empire launched. I think X-wing and TIE fighter pc games next. In 1996, the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire multimedia project launched partially to hype up the Special Editions and Prequels. Rogue Squadron for the N64 was very successful and led to two more sequels (and had the Naboo Starfighter as a secret ship, a full year before the movie was out!).

This is Star Wars at it's lowest????

Edit: some great comments have provided good context. I think it's fair to say this time period wasn't so much a low point as just being dormant (till ~93 onwards, where things slowly but steadily picked up). That's not what these comments I've mentioned were saying. It was "the worst time to be a Star Wars fan." Maybe in terms of some bland show not coming every ~2 years, sure, it was bad. But I much would have preferred presocial media internet Star Wars than present Sequels-pocalypse (excluding Andor)

Good local attractions for young families (that offer discounts)?

My family (children are 5 and under) is considering Indy or Chicago for a day trip soon. Shedd Aquarium has a big discount if we were to show our EBT card, so I was wondering if stuff in Indy offers any kind of discounts too.

[partially lost] Battlefield 3 YouTube video featuring someone syncing Caspian Border jet gameplay to a male p*rnstar's verbal utterances (context included).

(I read the sub rules. If this post isn't appropriate for it, I understand.)

r/battlefield3 told me that it was "a parody video of the legendary 4chan vs Reddit Battlefield 3 match they had back in 2012. 4chan had an Ace jet pilot called IMgoingindry. He was REALLY good and Reddit accused him of cheating so he was kicked from the server. The parody video uses footage from a Clint Eastwood movie called Firefox with Clint Eastwood being IMgoingindry and using the male pornstars lines."

"Highlight" of the lost video was the player strafing and dropping some bombs, and at the same time an extremely loud, dramatic guy was moan-yelling "DROPPING FUCKING LOADS ALL OVER YOUR FUCKING MOUTH. OH YEAH."

I found the exact two lines I mentioned above on a soundboard for pornstar Nick Manning. 3 and 18: https://www.soundboard.com/sb/milkmanningparttwo

If it rings any bells, there is some footage of the match still available:

Anyone know the video I'm talking about? Or have it saved somewhere? I had the video saved years ago, but the link stopped working because the video was deleted

Again, if this is the wrong subreddit, or too nsfw, my apologies.

Was there a recent incident or report resulting in the sudden, massive backlash against Flock cameras?

Now of course the backlash is well deserved. But if I recall correctly, they started appearing during the Biden administration, and more frequently during Trump's 2nd term.

Why the backlash now? General angst against Trump, or something else?

What are some good educational kids shows for learning about history?

My son is 5, and I feel it's almost time for him to learn various historical subjects while still being approachable to a child. Does anyone have recommendations (shows, movies, books, etc)? The only real criteria I have is that it remains mostly true to history, provides some nuance, and advocates for liberty when it makes sense. Old or new doesn't matter.

Is Liberty's Kids (early 2000s show on PBS about American Revolution) any good? Saw a review for it on YouTube, and it sounds solid. But of course, PBS can be hit or miss.

A great example I can definitely recommend is the short DK Eyewitness documentaries that I rediscovered on YouTube. The catchy intro song makes it especially memorable!

Lego SW decides to have a "collab" with Lego's City theme, releasing some generic and some location-specific civilian sets under the "Lego Star Wars City" label. Would you want this?

A "banal"pack featuring 4 Mos Eisley-specific, though generic, minifigs and several brickbuilt droids as the sidebuild.

A T47 airspeeder (unarmed for once) with like a gas station or cargo platform seen on many Midrim planets.

A cute At Attin home with a nice Star Wars lawn and garden. Or, a depressing Coruscanti apartment block with a Star Wars bodega.

Lego would never do this, but like a dumpy, shitty Imperial labor camp. Hell, the Narkina 5 prison, featuring a few prison cells and manufactory assembly bay.

Flashier sets like the Confederate Parliament or Republic Senate would go here.

The most militarized the theme would get is like people's self defense blasters, and then Star Wars cops v. criminals. That Clone Wars police gunship, Janix police forces, etc would go here. Clone and Stormtroopers should be used very sparingly.

Etc etc.

The sky is the limit. Would you want a Lego Star Wars City theme?

The Beauty of Clone Wars (2003)

I was looking for inspiration for a Lego MOC, and while watching the intro and Muunilinst sequences, I was enraptured by so many frames. So I wanted to share (but apparently not to yarr/starwars because this was automatically removed there).

Does the Missile Boat have a better name?

This missile boat: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Missile_Boat

I'm building a Lego MOC of one, and the name doesn't sound like something out of Star Wars. It's cousin, the assault gunboat, is a bit better. And the full name? Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing is legit awesome.

So was it called literally anything else in TIE Fighter? Or some other obscure source? I just want to make it not sound lame when I'm posting the end results of my MOC. 😭

There are no printed elements in Billund, Denmark.

Excluding the grey Imperial crest, these are most of the printed elements in one (1) (uno) (en) Star Wars set from over 20 years ago. I think there's 7 total.

Now compare it to the most recent Jedi Starfighter....

We need sets and set mods that are even more inaccurate to the source material.

I got this Coruscant Guard Gunship, and the amount of hate it got was unreal. To be sure, criticism of the lack of accessable cargo space and the bad print job on Commander Fox was very justified. But the autistic spazzing out over THERE NOT BEING TWO DOORS and Palpatine INSTEAD OF GLUP SHITTO was completely insane.

It was very funny that so many subsequent two-door mods didn't really make the primary bay more accessible. And the doors always looked pretty unstable. So that motivated me to make a cooler and more accessable version.

Should LEGO make more inaccurate sets so dust enjoyers actually tinker with their sets?????

[NSFW] Old BF3 YouTube video request: It features someone syncing Caspian Border jet gameplay to a male pornstar's verbal utterances.

Highlight of the video was the player strafing and dropping some bombs, and at the same time an extremely loud, dramatic guy was moan-yelling "DROPPING FUCKING LOADS ALL OVER YOUR FUCKING MOUTH. OH YEAH."

Teenage me found this extremely funny, but I think the creator deleted it at some point, so I'm wondering if it's uploaded somewhere else or someone saved it.

Anyone have the link to an article about how a UI designer came up with his own Lego storage system? I have pics from it

Someone here posted the link, but I only saved some pictures.

Some of the most annoying people are those that unironically identify as this.

Why do you need a specific label for yourself other than maybe "Lego fan"?

u/Kaiserschlut — 26 days ago

We need to combine the least-accurate ships with completely inaccurate crew (that are way cooler than the canon ones).
