What was the first movie you ever saw in theaters?

For me it was the original Lion King back in 1994. The songs I liked the most were Circle of Life and Just Can't Wait to be King. I didn't think much of Hakuna Matata. My sister loved it also. She's five years younger than I am. I was eight when I saw the movie.

Who is your favorite Homestar Runner band?

I'd have to say sloshy. I love their indie/college rock style. I agree that they are a parody of Weezer/Cake, who were a part of my high school years.

What would you think of this?

I noticed a comment for "slumber party" on YouTube that the person can't wait til 2030 when Strong Bad answers an email on a flip phone.

I think that'd be so nostalgic. That was such a relief from my hip dialing problem (I've always kept my phone in my front pocket, and my Spanish classes were held in an auditorium with tight seats).

Why aren't the Inca a part of Mesoamerica?

I tend to generalize the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, and Toltec (and others I may have forgotten) as Mesopotamia since I find them difficult to distinguish. However, Apparently, the Inca don't count despite being from Central America during the same period and resembling the others culturally. Is it just a geographical thing?

Homestar and Marzipan's relationship

I think that Homestar can't function without Marzipan. He doesn't seem to be able to act or think straight or act properly without her, which explains why she's his montesodium teacher. He also can't stand the idea of Marzipan leaving him, hence the anger when she dated the Cheat. This case is so serious that when Marzy was out of town he built a cardboard version of her that acted just like she does.

However, this relationship is not without its side-effects, as evidenced by the occasional strangeness Marzipan has shown (it's just in the foreground, Homestar Jr, etc).

Favorite song from a Disney animated film

What is your favorite song from a Disney animated film? Mine is Just Can't Wait to be King from the original Lion King. It's very nostalgic in that it was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. I still have my SNES cartridge. I watched Simba's Pride and The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa. There are plenty of other potential candidates like He's a Tramp, Why Should I Worry, or Can You Feel the Love Tonight. It's really hard to decide. I chose this one out of pure nostalgia. I actually enjoyed Simba's Pride and the TV show. Hakuna Matata was not much of a song to me. As a kid the song that captured my attention the most was Circle of Life, which I still love for the opening and the start of the chorus (which still gives me goosebumps). I used to be obsessed with trying to figure out what the crap they were saying.

Jefferson Starship

  • Phenomenal success
  • an art rock style similar to that of Boston
  • a rare case in which an iconic band changes its style to keep up with the times but is still able to maintain a complex style, in their case evolving from Jefferson Airplane
  • A part of the San Francisco Sound
  • Their work has come to receive attention on classic rock stations, most notably Jane
