SMA Weimer visits USAG Hawaii to assess infrastructure, quality of life

>

The tour concluded at Schofield Barracks, where Weimer walked through Barracks 2081 and 2083. He bypassed formal command briefings to speak directly with Soldiers in their living spaces, discussing maintenance response times, room conditions and their overall well-being.

>By adjusting his schedule to hear directly from the force, Weimer reinforced the Army's commitment to prioritizing people and ensuring garrison operations effectively support the tactical units tasked with deterring aggression and maintaining stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

Just...found this whole article to be kinda laughable. Hawaii has been having notable issues for months - and there's been no sign of SMA involvement.

There's talk of how he 'bypassed formal command briefings' to speak to Soldiers...but he's been insistent that soldiers not do that his entire time in the office.

Anyway, nothing in this article about the bunk beds, the overcrowding, the lack of DFAC on Shafter - there's no notable issues discussed here. They talk about all their 'wins' but nothing about the ongoing issues.

If anyone in the Bs at Hawaii talked to him, love to hear what the responses or any actions were.

Fort Hood CSDV will began offering alcohol

42 Bistro on Fort Hood now offers beer and wine for purchase for guests 21+.

Mon–Fri: 5–7 p.m.
Sat–Sun: Noon–7 p.m.

Alcohol purchases are out of pocket; Freedom Dollars cannot be used.

You may recall I mentioned this before with CSDV, as I had concerns about the alcohol and tipping.

When Task and Purpose's Patty Nieberg asked about this;

>Thompson told Task & Purpose that the reason for adding alcohol for sale was for revenue. Contractors, he said, “have got to be able to have a return on investment so they’ll grow.”

My concerns have been about moving alcohol closer to the Soldier (why not just put beer vending machines back), any price gouging that may occur that targets our lowest-earning Soldiers, and if there will be an impact to AAFES because of it.

$6 for a White Claw sure is somethin tho (E: I take it back, I guess that's pretty normal at an establishment. On post liquor has 12 for less than $20!). Time will tell if this is a net positive - I sure hope so.
