People are Way to Entitled to Characters These Days

I’m going to talk about TADC for just a second, so bear with me here.

Now I’m one of the few people who thought the last episode was okay. It wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t as godawful as people made it out to be. However, the entire reaction to the ending has made me realize how entitled fandoms have become nowadays. I saw a lot of people angry that Jax was revealed to trans or that their ships didn’t happen. Okay, why? It’s not your show; it’s Goose’s.

It’s not just Gooseworx either. Long ago, when the character of Kylo Ren was killed off, his weirdly dedicated fanbase was pissed and was harassing people who worked on Star Wars to bring him back. Again, why? These were also not the people who directed the film or wrote the script.

I think there is a huge difference between bad writing that ruins what the creator established vs demanding a showrunner do what you want. Fan fiction and fan art exist for a reason! And just because you’re a fan of something doesn’t automatically mean you know what is best for the characters or the story. Not everyone is a talented storyteller; you have to learn how to tell a proper story. Anyone can learn how to do that; it just takes time. So I don’t see why people can’t do that. Just learn how to be a good storyteller and make your own stories!

It’s so weird how people now have such weird senses of ownership over characters that don’t belong to them.

$20, GA, Repay $30 on 07/02

So right now, I am in a lot of pain due to my period. I get extremely bad headaches that render me immobile. I want to order some ibuprofen via DoorDash along with some snacks because it'll be cheaper and I can't drive right now. I get money on the second of July, so I'll be able to pay this back soon.

I Think Viv is Heading for Burn Out

When Viv started Helluva Boss, I thought the idea of working on two shows at the same time was a bad idea.

And honestly? I still do. It's very obvious that both shows lack polish.

Now, not only are we getting a Zoophobia mini series but she's also working on a movie? Why?

It's been talked about a lot but it's obvious that Viv is no businesswoman. I understand why she wants to make more stuff but wouldn't it be smarter to finish her current projects before starting new ones? She also has a problem with overspending and the company relies on her to make good business choices so how can she handle all that too?

$50, GA, Repay $60 on 06/26, Cashapp, Looking to Borrow for Food

While I do dog-sitting, it's not as constant as I want it to be. I am working on making it a business, but for now, I need some food money to hold me until Friday.

Drama at the Miniso

Not sure if this is a choosing beggar or an entitled person. Maybe a mixture of both.

So a while back, one of the malls close to me got a Miniso. It’s a Chinese retailer store that sells cosmetics, snacks and blind boxes. While some of the stuff is kinda cheap, I am a sucker for Asian snack food and blind boxes. So maybe like two months or so, I went there to grab a few things. There was a couple with two kids and they bought some drinks. I’m looking around, grab some tteokkbokki, chips and a cute Carebears blind box. However, when I go to check out, the mom has returned, saying she doesn’t like the drink. She now has a different drink in hand and wants to do an exchange/trade

Now, if you have worked in retail or food service, you know a store can’t take back a bottled drink that is opened. The store has no idea what you did to the drink. You could have spit it in, peed it or worse. So the cashier, a young woman, politely and calmly explains that she can’t take the drink back nor can she do an exchange. I can tell this will take a while, so I'm going to look at some other stuff.

When I come back, I see the cashier girl going somewhere with the security officer of the mall. Two new people are there, so I go up to the cash register. I then put two and two together.

Me: Did that woman steal the drink she had?

New Person: Yep.

Me: Oh my gosh.

So this adult woman, who didn’t understand that she couldn’t exchange an open drink, just took a different one without paying.

In other words, she stole it!

I know it’s just a drink, but not only is it wrong to steal, but it can look back on the store and have to possibly fill out paperwork. Also, I have a feeling that if this woman got away with stealing the drink, she would probably come back to try and do it again. Thankfully, the cashier girl got it back.

People are wild.

Do We Have Faith in Zoophobia?

So I watched Judgemental Critter's video on Zoophobia, and it's really good because it highlights all the problems with the story. It also shows that Viv kinda hasn't grown as a writer either, because a lot of the same things she does in Hazbin and Helluva are in Zoophobia.

So I'm just curious, how do people feel about the announcement? I have no idea if Zoophobia still has a fanbase but it seems weird that she's rebooting this. I wonder if she's going to change the story and have fewer characters. I don't know, I want to be excited about this because more indie animation but it's hard to be.

The Finale Isn't Perfect but That's Okay

I give the finale like 7 out of 10. I wanted more from it, and I, like many people, didn't like the Jax focus. However, I feel like a lot of people are treating this finale like it murdered their family and ate their puppy.

I do think that Gooseworx really needs to work on her writing skills if she ever makes another show. Honestly, I think a lot of indie creators need to learn how to tell better stories. I think that's a major problem with a lot of indie works but that is besides the point.

This was Goose's story, and while I disagree with some aspects of it, I am happy she got to tell it the way she did. I don't think she deserves to be slandered and treated like a piarah. I feel like the internet in general has forgotten how to have nuanced conversations. It's also not fair to be mad at people who think the finale is perfect. Let them have their fun, what's the harm in it?

All in all, I think the finale was fine and I had a lot of fun with it.

I Enjoyed the Finale But...

Is there a reason we couldn't have gotten Jax's backstory beforehand?

Why did it have to wait until the tail end? Why not have one more episode and then do a proper finale? Like 75% of the finale was about Jax and there was no time to sit with the reveal. Okay, so he was homeless and his parents were abusive. So? Honestly, I got more frustrated because we saw his relationship with Ribbit and it further shows how his stubbornness caused problems for others.

It's obvious that Gooseworx favors Jax and I think that affected her writing. I don't hate the finale but I am left frustrated

Reddit is Starting to Annoy Me

It seems like I can't go a day without an ad for some Harry Potter merch.

Also, am I the only person who thinks themed Uno cards are dumb?

More Indie Shows Means More Criticism

So hear me out.

As Helluva Boss started to drag on and Hazbin ended up just fine, I think more people are starting to realize the flaws of Hellaverse. Now, of course, that doesn't mean people have to stop liking it but I have seen a lot more fans be more vocal about their frustrations with both shows. I think part of that is because there have been other indie cartoons that are more put together and cohesive.

TADC is ending soon but we'll hopefully be getting the first episodes of Knights of Guienvere, Lackadaisy and Gaslight District this year. Not to mention Matt Braly got his indie Nutcracker dark horror pitch off the ground.

I think the Hellaverse fandom has mellowed out a bit, and while there are places where you can't really critique the show, I have seen more people being more open about their issues with it. Even a lot of diehard fans have voiced their opinions.

I'm honestly interested in the future of both shows right now. Call me morbidly curious. I am hoping that both shows have good season finales but it's up in the air at this point

I Loathe How Stella is Written

So I've been arguing with people by bringing up how Stella being a bitch doesn't sit right with me. In season one, we barely know anything about her, and while she seems like a bitch, she has a right to be angry. Her husband cheated on her.

Then, in season 2, it's revealed she's always been a bitch, an abuser, and they were never happy in their relationship once.

This has always rubbed me the wrong way. Now, I'm not saying Stella has to be super developed or interesting, but writing her off as an idiotic bitch who has no idea how royal life works just feels super lazy to me. We also know what she's written this way, so Stolas can be a cheater with zero repercussions. And while some people are just bitchy for the sake of it, it's obvious this was forced for the sake of Stolas and Blizto.

I also don't like how the abuse is handled in HB. Hazbin has it's probelms but I feel like Angel Dust's abuse is handled much better. The inconsistencies in the writing for Stolas, Stella, the worldbuilding, and their relationship make things so confusing. At the same time, the writers have used abuse as a joke, but then want us to take Stolas' abuse seriously. We're also in hell, are we supposed to care that people are monsters or not?

I honestly think that Stella didn't really need to be in HB and I doubt her character is going to grow beyond being a dumb broad who is hateful.

God, I am Tired of these Bradford Exchange Ads

I will be far and say that it's not just bad Harry Potter merch they make but god, these guys are shown constantly. These I just had to share because these gaudy candles are $50! They're not even real candles, they're fake!

All Fandoms are Toxic to an Extent

So I'm going to admit, I'm an old fart. I'm going to be forty in three years, but I'm still a huge nerd. I've seen a lot of really crappy fandom behavior. I was there for MLP: Friendship is Magic, driving Lauren Faust away, and harassing a girl because she got a Tumblr called Ask Princess Molestia taken down. I saw how racist fans were towards John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran, I've seen people throw a fit because Tom Hiddleston got married and more.

All fandoms are going to be toxic to an extent, but there are two things I want to bring up.

  1. If you see bad behavior, you need to call it out, and you should also straight-up block bad people. If you don't want people getting hurt and ending up victims, you have to say something

  2. It'll pass. I know a lot of people are upset about the start of TADC, and I get that but it's going to pass. It does suck we're dealing with extremely immature, bratty people who are ruining something wonderful for everyone else, but it's going to pass. To survive, you have to make sure you're not part of the problem and find your own niche in the fandom. You can enjoy stuff with garbage fandoms, just make sure you're not adding to the harassment and other problematic issues.

I Feel Like the Abuse Stolas Faces is Poorly Written

Am I the only person who feels like the writers of Helluva Boss did zero research on abusive relationships?

One of the major flaws of HB and HH we don't see anything; we are told everything. The abuse Stolas faces is a perfect example of that. Not only does it feel like Stella was made to be abusive solely for the ship, but she's also written as a moron. Most abusers are smart, clever, and master manipulators. Stella is the opposite. She just comes as a brash bitch with no sense of subtlety.

It also feels like the writers are hitting us over the head with Stolas' bad past and abuse, going, 'Do you feel bad for yet? Do you? Do you?! FEEL BAD FOR HIM!'

Does this make any sense?

People Think HP is More Important Than It Is

So I'm in a subreddit called r/characters, and someone is making a list of the most iconic trios So the Three Stooges, a comedy troupe from the 1920's, was suggested, and it had a lot of votes. Someone seemed genuinely angry that they were winning over the Golden Trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione. They also got angry at me for being shocked that some people didn't know who they were.

Now, while I understand that the Stooges haven't been relevant for years, people still reference them, and a lot of slapstick comedy was inspired by them. Even if they aren't that popular today, I still think they're important to comedy and film. However, this person seemed so upset that the Stooges got more upvotes than the Golden Trio.

I'm not stupid; there is no denying that HP was popular, but as I've mentioned before, it hasn't held up as well as some other pieces of media. For the longest time, I felt like you couldn't say anything bad about HP, but while the books and movies were popular, they are flawed. Even without JK Rowling being a transphobic ass, the book is filled with fatphobia, sexism, handles the theme of slavery poorly, treats it characters of color with no respect, and more.

Yes, HP was a huge thing back it's in its heyday and it was popular, but I don't think it's as important as people claim it is.
