What is resistance art? I think of it as a kind of push and pull between progress and harmful dying ideals. The image of two wizards casting their magic wands towards each other, with both spells meeting in the middle, fighting for an inch of give comes to mind. Where a single person may attempt to fight progress, there are thousands more fighting fiercly for it. This morning, when I sat making this, I reveled in the fact that this one simple action, painting a drag queen, will help to cancel out some of the blind hatred that plagues our communities. I'll be doing the same thing tomorrow. A hateful comment falling to the abyss will never win against an act of love.

I'm a printmaker mainly working with lino. I understand the carving process as it relates to making inked prints. I've been tasked with carving a scene INTO a piece of wood that will then be painted. The client and I agreed that the components would be carved separately and attached to a piece of MDF that will then be framed. I think I'll use basswood? Burch ply?

I know this is doable but I need a place to start. Tools, I have, carving knowledge is.. ya know adequate. 😂 Any pointers would be soooo helpful

Added a distinguishing line in front of the "P" and inked it ALL black. Is it more or less readable? Part of the goal is forcing the viewer to go bet seeing positive and negative space. Blah blah blah
