A Colouring Book Puzzle about the Philosophy of Virtual Reality 🦋 ♻️ 📺

Hey folks, take a look at a puzzle from my solo project Toy Worlds Atlas, a philosophic colouring-book!

This puzzle explores David Chalmers’s ontology of virtual reality. Using logic, the player must distinguish between colourants representing real and virtual objects.

Philosophy is fun! Toy Worlds Atlas is an experiment in making philosophical ideas meaningful to a broader audience. Built around an underrepresented field of learning, it aims to offer shorter yet intelligent and fulfilling play sessions that subvert expectations and inspires thought

If you find the project interesting, wishlist Toy Worlds Atlas on Steam!
I'm releasing a demo very soon.

A colouring book game made in Vector Art 🪲

Hi! I wanted to share a trailer for my solo project Toy Worlds Atlas that I made in vector art. It's a colouring book game that explores philosophy through bizarre, artistic sandbox levels.

Clear vector style fits well for the "colouring book" format. Besides, the art draws from the nostalgic aesthetic of a children’s encyclopedia (like Dorling Kindersley books), and I find vectors fitting here too.

Please let me know what you think about the trailer = )
If you want, you can wishlist the game on Steam

What do you consider a Desktop Companion feature on Steam?

Hi! Could you help me with an advise? I’m considering adding a screensaver / desktop companion mode to my game: a separate scene where collected creatures float around, collide, and produce VFX and SFX. This would not be the game’s core feature, but I would still like to include it.

When I look through games tagged Desktop Companion on Steam, many seem to offer a more advanced system: multiple HUD windows that players can interact with while doing office work.

Do you think a Desktop Companion needs to be this advanced and immersive, as in Mysarium, Bon Voyage, or Birdswatching?

Or would it be enough to have a resizable window with a living scene where things happen from time to time, more like Cast n Chill or Vissekom?

Toy Worlds Atlas 🐞 A philosophical colouring book / sandbox for mindful breaks 🪲 Please let me know what you think about the trailer 🪼

Hey folks! Take a look at the trailer for my solo project Toy Worlds Atlas.

It's a colouring book game that explores philosophy through bizarre, artistic sandbox levels. The project is designed mindful breaks. It tries to combine a relaxing experience with some thoughtful content that refers to classic philosophy. This more reflective content is skippable so that the players can go as deep as they want.

If you think it looks interesting, you can try a demo on Itch
Or wishlist the full game on Steam. I keep developing a full release

Making a colouring book puzzle game about philosophy

Hi everyone! I'm making a colouring book-based puzzle game that explores different philosophical concepts, Toy Worlds Atlas.

This particular puzzle asks players to mix existentials — fundamental states of human being — to create a warm colour palette.

It took several iterations to make the gameplay intuitive and engaging, even for players who may not be interested in its philosophical content. At the same time, more curious players may discover a peculiar perspective on existentials and the ways they interact.

There’re different sets of such proposed by philosophers: Plessner’s, Sartr’s, Fink’s, and others’. This puzzle adapts Heidegger’s set, as it includes human conditions that are not usually seen as existential, and many readers find his approach thought-provoking.

Do you think philosophy is translatable into a game format?
Even further, is it possible to make a philosophical colouring book?

A colouring book about philosophy

Hi everyone! Here's a level from a colouring book game that explores philosophy through creative puzzle-solving, Toy Worlds Atlas.

Each colouring page tries to explore some philosophical concept. This beetle, for example, focuses on the game's core idea: subjective worlds, "Umwelts".

Made for mindful breaks, each page aims to subvert players' expectations and delight their intellect.

Analytical Essay on Disco Elysium's Design and UX

Hi folks! I wanted to share a UX analysis of Disco Elysium that I made for a class at school. It gets into ontology and phenomenology, diegetic and non-diegetic voices in the head, and some more.

I called it "Doors that Never Open: Disco Elysium and The Reverse Engineering of Love" =)

Please let me know what you think!
